giant bezel for a 16:10 screen or is it just the thinkpads design language at work here

It's a ThinkPad, meant for business and doing work, not for looking chic. Plus Thinkpads go thru extra mil spec testing I would not be surprised if the border is needed to survive that kind of testing.

      • if its the old ibm t series i would happily agree

these ones….kinda dont exactly look the same as they did right?

        • This model is MIL STD-810H certified apparently…according to the psref doc.

Apparently there's 28 sets of tests. I took interest in the Shock set https://keystonecompliance.com/mil-std-810/shock/

          • @hippo2s: well well colour me surprised, guess the old ibm guys wasnt just kicked out of the door after the merge. cheers for that info haha

      • What are you talking about? Smaller bezels aren't for "looking chic", they're to maximise display size in a certain form factor, which is obviously important for business and doing work.

X13 series has always had much larger bezels because it's a 13.3" display in a form factor that's only a little smaller than the X1 Carbon, which has reasonably thin bezels.

  • Pathetic battery. Get cucked.

    • absolutely agree!!! I have a gen1 32gb ver. totally sucked batt!

      • The low power consumption of the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 2 AMD is still higher than that of the Intel model. However, the X13 Gen 2 AMD is much more frugal than the X13 Gen 1 AMD.
The internal battery of the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 G2 AMD has gained capacity; instead of 48 Wh as in the predecessor, it now has a capacity of 54.7 Wh. As a result, battery life increases slightly compared to the ThinkPad X13 Gen 1 AMD, while the Lenovo X13 Gen 2 Intel continues to be marginally ahead of the Ryzen variant reviewed here. Overall, the X13 Gen 2 AMD delivers a good result with over nine hours in our Wi-Fi test (150 cd/m²). Even at maximum display brightness, it still runs for over eight hours in our Wi-Fi test.

        • That's if you have the 54/56 in the 50s whatever battery.

If you're at 41 then you'll be struggling.

        • Although, the review you linked claims the battery is good. The review unit they have has a 54.7Wh battery.

Looks like for some god-forsaken reason Lenovo has spec'd some X13 G2 AMDs with 41Wh batteries. Even with the AMD CPU, if this has the listed 41Wh battery I would expect pretty awful battery life. See the link below.

          Edit: Clarification

      • let us know what batt times you are getting and what type of load once you actually have the machine…..

      • gen 2 battery has greatly improved. last me 8-10 hours on windows. I had gen 1 which I swapped for gen 2 (US version though with 54wh)

      • I have a gen 1 ryzen 7 version running linux and I've never thought the battery life was poor. Two and a half years on and I still get around 7 hours. Is that bad these days?

  • How does this compare to the Surface Laptop 4 R5 16gb ram?
