Cheap for the 45W PD multiport. Love mine…..

I find the 30w original Apple charger charge my mba and phone faster than the 45w multi port charger

      • +7

45W max across all ports which is a bummer. Once you start plugging in other devices that 45W port will deliver less power.

        • +9

Not sure who and why the neg but I’ll make it clear:

Charging iPhone only using Apple 30w charger is faster than charging iPhone only using the 45w cygnet charger

Charging MBA only using Apple 30w charger is faster than charging MBA only using the 45w cygnet charger

I just thought ozbargainers deserve to know that.

          • +2

@CandyMan: Were you using the USB-C or USB-A ports? Only the USB-C is rated to 45w, the USB-A is only rated at 20w.

            • +1

@Whilezee: I tried both usb c and usb a. I now only use the usb c ports. I use the 30w Apple charger if I need faster charging.for either my phone or laptop.

As clear said above, once you start plugging other devices, it slows down.

It’s good overall but not fantastic.

          • @CandyMan: I'd be curious to know if that specific model takes more than 30W as the Cygnet PD levels are different to the Apple PD levels. 15W, 27W, 36W, 45W

            • @Clear: For MBA should be able to charge 30w, 45w, and 65w max as per advertised specs

The 45w multiport has been low stock for a while before this deal was posted, wouldn't be surprised if there's no stock available.

    • Limited stock in Hobart!

  • Looking for a 100w variant so that I can fast charge my phone and laptop at the same time, Amy recommendations?

    • Satechi have one for $110 on Catch at 100W.

@[Deactivated]: Best to avoid Heymix. Countless posts here of them having issues, like being improperly wired, blowing up, fire etc. Plus they're reusing their certifications for all the same chargers when each model should have their own.

      • I'm not sure I'd recommend the 100w model. My one had a glitch where PPS would stop working. It would need to be unplugged for about 10 seconds for it to work again.

This is also mentioned in a few user reviews. I didn't get a replacement unit so I'm not sure if I just had a faulty unit.

Thanks for the tip mate. Price matched at JB.

  • Anyone know what kind of c to c cable you need to utilize Samsung super fast charging?

    • +1

      Any reputable cable

      • -1

Yeah, it's not the cable but the charger itself. Can you get Samsung Fast Charging with any PD charger or does it have to be a Samsung Fast Charger?

        • +1

The charger needs to support PPS. For Samsung phones, there are also two variants - 25w/45w.

          • @ihfree: I can confirm the 30w cygnett works with super fast charging on my s20 ultra. Obviously the 25w version

    • +2

      Samsung SFC 2.0 (45W) requires a 5A cable.

Samsung SFC 1.0 (25W) should work with pretty much any decent usb-c cable, I would think.

    FYI: 30w for $16 @ TGG commercial, $9 for 2 x 12w

    • Gday mate do you have a price for the 45W multiport from TGGC?

      • Couldn't find it :(

        • Thanks mate

      • Used to be $28 but no longer listed.
Seems like they add/remove models now and then

    • On a side note, regarding these commercial prices, have been able to 'Pay less via phone' by telling them 'a friend' has access to TGGC and you know the price of a item is $XXX on there - can they match it as you dont want to hassle your mate to order/collect etc. Has worked for me a few times I have tried and thus able to use gift cards etc.

Any chance someone has a screenshot of "30w for $16 @ TGG commercial, $9 for 2 x 12w" so officeworks will pricematch lmao

  • Not bad, but a little on the chunky side for what they are. The 45w is essentially the same size as their older 57w units from a few years back. So it won’t compete with a GaN charger in terms of being svelte.

    • $18 at TGGC

      • Is there a direct link to view this without having an account? Want to use it to price match

  • I recently purchased a pixel 7 pro phone which didn't come with a charger. I've been using an anko qc 3.0 charger and am wondering if this is suitable or one of these would be best?
Would using a non PD charger do any harm? Would buying an official pixel usb 7 30w pd charger be any better vs exact specs but not pixel branded

  • kmart has 64w (2xC + 1xA) for $49 if you dont mind the anko brand

  • Got one. Thanks OP.

Get Bunnings to price beat by 10% for the 45w:
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/cygnett-white-powerplus-45w-mult…

    • $37.17 from bunnings.

      • +1

how do you get that price? it's a special order at Bunnings so not readily available on the shelf.

        • +1

Just go in and talk to the staff and show them the ad from Target. They should be able to reduce the price and put the order through for you.

        • +2

I done online chat, gave them the website links and they took my details and gave me an order number, just had to ring up and pay after that and will get delivered to my chosen store.

          • @hek666: Thanks got one for travelling

          • @hek666: How did you access online chat? I tried searching on the contact options and could only find phone and email address.

            • +1

@fedex11: Its the virtual assistant box on the bottom right hand corner of the bunnings webpage

  • Thanks OP. Price matched at JB.

  • Dual USB A chargers used to be so cheap. Can't find any dual USB C chargers that are not huge and aren't $70 or super slow.

    • +2

Basic dual A chargers just do 5v @ 2000mA or so.

USB C PD chargers can output a whole range of voltages depending on the connected device.

One is significantly more complicated than the other, which is way they aren't comparable in price.

  • I just got them to price match the black 25w charger at JB

  • Ive been using the 45w since August and it's gone. Felt it and it was really overheated and you could smell the burning plasticky smell quite prominently. I got this to use instead of my Heymix charger (which has been fine for the past 3 years) so that was disappointing. Now I have to deal with the Telstra return…

There have been other reviews where the same thing has happened and from my forum post where i thought my pad killed it, so dont leave it plugged in if you arent around.

  • This 45W was bundled with my steam deck from Kogan
