Absolutely great speaker. Great clarity and bass and sounds way better than alot of speakers out there. Even sounds better than my sony boombox GTK-XB60.

Luckily I got mine in Dec 2019 on sale for $100.

    • +1

Yep when I first heard one of these I was like what? That sound is coming out of that? They punch way above their weight… best mini bluetooth speaker I've come across.

      • +1

Agree - I have used quite a few different portable speakers and cant rate it highly enough. I have used JBL / UE / Sony and nothing compares.

Does OzB allow bots in here? Genuine question.

I bought one off $149.99 deal last year and it's an "okay" speaker for $100-200 price tag. But honestly, a garbage in terms of sound quality because it doesn't have any option to reduce the crappy bass. Also, no built-in radio.. Only good things are Usb-C charging and Bluetooth+ Aux in ports.

I would suggest to save $$ until you hear it in person before buying it because of these reviews. YMMV

Edit: I know I could return it but I was overseas and didn't bother. As I said before, its just an "okay" speaker nothing to glorify.

@DAT: Care to share an alternative speaker that you think is better?

    • in Dec 2019 on sale for $100

Time flying!!! Got one too. One in a lifetime deal for Bose. Still going strong.

I bought my gen 1 soundlink mini in 2016 and I'm sitting next to it listening right now. Still punches above its weight - I love these things. Have bought a few as gifts too.

    • Yep me too. Bought my gen 1 in 2015 and it is still beating like a beast. Just bought another Gen II and feel like it's not as good as the first one, especially the bass

      • +1

Man maybe it was 2015 - I think it was from a Myer deal for a stupidly low price. Does your dock still go okay? I've had to plug my charger directly into the speaker now as it can't seem to keep charging on the dock. Just flicks between the docked/undocked noise continually.

        • My dock is still working ok, but my charger for gen 1 stop working. I should have mentioned that. Note that gen 2 doesnt come with the dock charger

    • +1

Another one here with a gen 1 that is 5+ yrs?? old. Still very happy with the sound quality and the battery life is still fine :)

Isnt the Student Beans code for $40 off $150 - not $50 off?

    • +1

Sorry mate. Was copying from my previous post and did not check the amount. Updated now.

  • I might be the outlier here, but my BOSE speaker - whilst sound quality was outstanding, failed after about 2 years. Wouldn't hold charge, which was so disappointing!

  • my gen 2 is wild and black but my gen 1 came with a charging cradle which sat nice and hid cables.

  • +3

Got it for 150$ after price match discussion with Bose directly:)

    • Did you have to prove you were a student or anything?

      • +3

No i checked on Myer and it was 150 though out of stock. I gave him the screenshot of 150 and he agreed to do the price match

        • Could you please share the screenshot you used? Myers website shows me a price of $NaN…

          • @SillySausage93: Can’t see option to attach here.
You can take the screenshot as soon as the page is loaded on Myer, it will show 150 for 2 secs

@abviks2616: Cmon mate, go the extra mile!

              Here you go: https://ibb.co/whq6rg4

Worked for me too, pricematched successfully. They do it a weird way though. You order it then they refund you the difference after the fact. Strange system.

              • @fLaMePrO: Not a refund system for me, they sent me the payment link of 150 only. I called them directly instead of chat

              • +1

                @fLaMePrO: Thanks, worked for me

              • +1

@fLaMePrO: bloody legend! worked for me too. 2x for $300

              • +1

@fLaMePrO: Thanks for the screenshot. The Bose chat agent asked me to place order then change the order final amount for me

  • Who did you price match?

Edit saw your response just after mine.

  • Spewing I missed the $100 deal from yonder.

  • I bought the version 1 back in 2012 when it first came out and it died last year. Need a new one :)

  • Does anyone know how these compare to the JBL Charge series?

    • I have a jbl charge 3 and bose smashes the jbl in terms of sound quality. The bose is smaller as well.

Obviously bose doesnt have the charging capability.

  • So these retail for more than the newer soundlink FLEX?

  • +1

Grabbed one last night for $150 through the BOSE chat with the help of the screenshot from @fLaMePrO

    Thanks OP!

    • They wouldn't do it unless I shared a link…

      • That's so weird! I just attached the pic as an attachment and they did it.

I do have the chat transcript if that helps?

  • +1

    Yay, got it for $150!

    Thanks OP and Flamepro.

Always wanted one of these since seeing a friend's one about 10 years ago

  • +1

Thanks OP and Flamepro. Just got one too. I was charged the full price of $199.95 through the Bose Website and apparently, they will amend/ price match the price to $150 when they deliver the item. A bit strange. But, I was reassured that only $150 should come out from my credit card.. Cheers

    • My order was handled in the same way

    • Same here. The initial $199 is just a temporary hold to confirm the card works, etc.

They only charge once shipped. So the representative is able to modify the order in the backend.

  • I've had one for about 5 years and love it. The sound is tailored for the average punter that likes booming bass.
My only real complaint however, is each time it connects to my phone or pad it announces in words("connected to bikeham's phone, connected to bikeham's pad"), delaying the listening experience. Would love to be able to turn that off.

Did anyone receive the order? I did the price match using the JB screenshot shared by OP. I did chat with bose agent and they price matched it and assured me that they will charge $150. I checked my statement today and found I was charged $199. After long chat they said they will refund $50 once order is delivered and I need to contact them again once it is delivered to get $50 back. Anyone had experienced same.

    • Yes, just received it and listening to it now. Not a bad little speaker.

I had the same process. My comment above explains their process. I was only charged $150

  • Thanks jdeep for bringing this up. Ive checked my CC statement and I was also charged the full price eventhough i was reassured that i'll be charged $150 only.
I just had a chat with one of Bose agents and luckily, I've saved the chat when they pricematched the speaker as he was asking for the link again. He then kept saying that only $150 was charged. I did a screenshot of the CC statement and then, he was like.. ok, I'll process a refund now.
I think they're being dodgy and I would recommend everyone do check their statement on how much was charged by Bose

I am from India and wanted this one badly . Luckily my fiancé was on a 4 day office visit , the Bose page read 199.99 AUD . luckily thanks (many thanks) to one OP here who put MYERS SC and i chat with an agent on Bose and they agreed to price match but asked me to pay full 199,99 and then give them the order ID . in 24 hours i saw the price match in my Bose account . today i am checking my CC ( AmEx India) statement and i am charged only 150 AUD equivalent in my currency . Guess for international cards due to hold in card and not direct charge i was able to be charged only 150 .(instead of whole 199 and then refund of 50) . i still have to get a hand on these speakers as fiancé flies to Kiwiland from Aus and then back to India . But she got the package yesterday and she said she was blown away . Mind you she has a Flex by Bose and in her opinion this is even better than that !

  • Had one for years. They're in their own category for sound vs portability.
