So much more expensive than before…

I hope you're not referring to Dell Outlet price, they're refurbished and aren't available very often.

      • +14

Dell eBay used to carry them and they could be had for as low as $369 when there are 20% off coupons.

There hasn't been any sale for S2722QC or S2721QS for a while now though.

    • Yeah inflation sux huh

      • +1

I wouldn't say point the finger at inflation exactly.. its just that most of those deals happened just before the end of the financial year. Clearly Dell were trying to move a lot of stock and so discounting heavily to do it. Another contribution factor might have also been the post-covid wave, as there was a huge demand for monitors early on as people worked from home and wanted the extra screen real estate.

      • So do high interest rates!

    • Inflation, Ukraine, Russia, covid… Etc etc

      • Alright relax Bezos

    only 60hz

    • Yeah this is a productivity monitor, the gaming monitors with 4K 120-144Hz refresh rate cost 2.5-4x this price. Hopefully they will get cheaper soon.

      • +1

No reason office monitors shouldn't have 120hz refresh rate by now when $300 budget phones even have them. At this point it's just artificial product segmentation I reckon.

    • It does have FreeSync so if you're mostly doing 4K gaming it might be alright for 40-60 FPS tear-free gaming. Hard to say without looking at reviews of its gaming performance though.

If your employer participates, the 'Member Purchase Program' might be able to nudge these down a tiny bit further.

I was able to buy at about ~$425 in December using that.

I believe it was Brand new for $369 in April 2022. It was $379 in July 2022. $369 in Feb 2022.

    Refurbished has been even less.

    • I think there was a glut of stock when pandemic buying slowed. Hard to see those prices being reached again until this model is end of life.

Got mine for $299 refurbished last year

Last week I asked the online chat to see whether I can get a better deal and they said $425.43 is the best they can do. At that time the retail was A$500.05 (14.92% discount).

Got mine for $369 last year

    • Got mine for $289

  • Just confirming, this monitor doesn't have an output for another monitori does it?

    • +2

I reckon you would need dp 1.2 on both to daisy chain to another which this doesn't seem to have

      • Monitor is DP 1.4 according to specs.

      • Daisy chain is a Thunderbolt feature, this is USB-C/alt-mode.

    • +3

This monitor only supports USB-C/alt-mode. So, even if you use Mac, the Mac doesn't operate in Thunderbolt mode, thus, no daisy chain support.

USB-C's MST support is via hub. So, the answer is no because it is USB-C/alt-mode DP 1.4/1.2 (switchable).

        Thanks for the correction!

Just do a chat and ask for a best price quote, they do $425 as standard it seems.

any advice on this? i asked for best price and got $510.45 delivered.

      • Currently without any discount codes its $500.50 (Price includes GST and Delivery); surely they can't put a markup on it and ask for $510.45 delivered?!?!

        • +2

I finally got them to hit this price but I have to pay delivery!
