Was tossing between this and the Asus KO version. Went with the Asus due to the additional base clock and additional VRMs.

I believe these have even lower power specs than the Founder’s Edition.

I don’t upgrade my GPU often so spent a little extra for the VRMs.

    • +2

Yeah the Asus was definitely a better choice.

For anyone interested in this, the Inno3D has its VBios limited to 200w (less than the Founder's Edition as @jlogic has said) but it looks to be a reference board so it can be crossflashed (fair warning this is not without risk) with another brand's 3060Ti to increase the power limit. This was how people that bought Dell 3060Ti were able to get around this aswell, I vaguely remember the Zotac 3060Ti Twin Edge OC being a good choice for this.

      • Think I would have jumped on this if I didn't read this haha.

Asus KO is $669 which could be a better buy for the extra.

        • +1

Yeah the Asus KO was designed for continuous operation, quiet and good performance for Internet Cafes in Korea, they ended up becoming a regular model at some point in 2020 and now everyone can get em!

Well worth it imo over the Inno3D

      • I have this Inno card. If the voltage is limited does that mean it runs slower than a standard 3060ti?

        • +2

200w is the standard wattage for the 3060Ti, most can have their power slider increased by 10% within MSI Afterburner for instance to go to 220w, the Inno3D cannot.

Real world this won't impact too heavily and if you're undervolting you likely won't get close to the 200w draw anyway, so its not a make or break, I'd say noise and maybe thermals are more important to most people.

Don't be discouraged! Its still a fully fledged 3060Ti :)

    • Somebody also mentioned in another thread that the Asus KO boards use the TUF PCBs (and the Dual fans) which means they have a feature not to turn the fans on until 60 something degrees, making the card silent until it needs to ramp up.

Remember to stack with this AMEX offer

Hmm, is it time to finally upgrade my old GTX 1080 for this. Been holding for so long and prices for GPUs these days are just sad….

    • +6

      Cries in GTX 970

I think I finally might go AMD this time for graphics card though

      • +3

        Don't cry unless you're scraping by with a GTX560ti/GT1030/5600g onboard…

      • -2

If you want an average video card with weak modern features go for it

      • Ahh someone else still ticking along with a 2016-vintage GPU.
My Radeon R9 390 is still going strong but I’m desperate to upgrade finally.

    • +1

i might be looking at the wrong stats it seems that there's marginal improvements from 1080 for $400?

      • Gpubenchmarks says there's a +26% performance gain on average when going from a 1080 to a 3060ti.

The 3060ti also has raytracing cores which can make a huge difference in Blender cycles rendering since you can use OPTIX instead of CUDA.

        • i suppose it's a matter of use case, for me, i don't use blender or the RT cores.
if anything the games i play will probably not use all the cores. so when i'm looking up the comparison stats, its reads really marginal to me for $600. (looking at texture rates and fp64 double it even goes the other way)

          https://www.gpucheck.com/compare/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-vs-…

however for what i do specifically, the 3060ti benchmarks is around 2x or 1.5x faster than my 1080. so this would make a good upgrade for me. but my use-case is very specific.

edit: not sure why i kept thinking this is a $400 card, its actually closer to $600
from the recent GPU posts it seems some pricing adjustment is coming so i'll probably be buying soon.

          • @slowmo: In my opinion a 1.5 - 2x performance increase for $600 sounds fair to me.

Another thing you should consider is whether the 8GB of VRAM might become an issue for you in the future.

            • @huju: i guess i'm a bit greedy to expect a +2 gen card should at least be 3x…. so reality is that i should be looking at the 3080xx series but the prices of those have yet to be at a reasonable level to me.

right now i'm almost balancing between time needed to perform processing vs cost of a new card…

yeah the 8gb vrm is definitely a concern. thus i would feel more comfortable if it's in the 12gb zone

    • Unless you need Nvidia features for production reasons (which some of us do including myself), I'd recommend an AMD card for mid-range gaming, where you'll get way better value. The few unique gaming features Nvidia has don't really make sense unless you're playing on a high end card and 4k monitor, and aren't really all that relevant to most people.

  • For light casual gamer this would be a big step coming from a 1050ti right ? Even though is a lower compared to the Asus

    • +3

A casual gamer would just stay on the 1050ti. they wouldn't need a 3060ti unless they play heavy games daily/weekly and at a minimum of 1440p resolution/triple A games.. and/or a light casual gamer would do perfectly fine with a 5600G with no dGPU, even some games run fine at 1440p/60

      • +8

What about part time and FIFO gamers?

        • Again the 1050ti is a good card for casual gamers. I run a 5600G cpu in my main with the ability to pick up a 3060 if required, but find that all games/productivity I need to do run perfect just on the 5600G's onboard so just don't need a dGPU. in this config, the system runs almost silent with little power draw

        • +4

          What about contract gamers?

          • +3

@m3ndL3: they are paid enough per day to buy a 4090

            edit: and expense it off

      • +1

Yeah agreed been working fine for me . I did upgrade my monitor to 1440p due to needing a widescreen for work. Would this 3060ti be a good buy to future proof for next 5 years of so or not worth it ?

        • Really doesn't sound like you need this, the 1050ti is a good card for a casual gamer. I'd get it if you seriously have no other use in life for $599 such as future home loan repayments/food for your family/education expenses and just wanted to replace the 1050ti now and then not touch the PC for another 5 years

          • +1

@Doomedgrind: Thanks . Since I use my PC for work it can be written off a business expense ..had the 1050ti for ages now . The 3060ti looks like a good upgrade . This price is the lowest I have seen and if it goes down more I can just claim it back on price protection

            • +1

@davenpru: If you can claim it as business expense that changes the story ;) (completely different use case to 'casual gamer' ;))

              • +1

@Doomedgrind: Fair call should have said that the cost can be offset . Just to update my graphics card

      • +4

The above comment is completely wrong. 1050 is massively under powered and can barely play modern 2022 games with any fidelity even at 1080p.

3060ti is a good choice at the right price. You will be able to play all modern games at high settings in 1080 and many at high settings in 1440p. Especially with dlss.

Very good choice if you can afford 600$ for a vid card

      • +1

What about fifth generation gamers that only play goat herding simulators?

        What card should they get?

  • +2

Wow… only twice the price it should be really….
    getting there though

    • Based on….?

      • +5

        Supply and demand..
        new gen is out..
        mining is finished..
        low tier chipset…

Not knocking the poster… just the pricing that retailers are selling for still

        • +1

Don’t get me wrong… I’m waiting YEARS to finally upgrade. It’s ridiculous.

But supply and demand is why they’re still high. People are still buying at this price.

          • -3

@Ulysses31: Time to buy was 6 months ago before inflation really kicked in. Hodlers are worse than magars

            • +1

@Micsmit: I couldn't find anything cheaper than this price for a RTX 3060 Ti. Excluding the Dell ones that were ripped out of machines.

Can you link a couple. Would be good to get some reference points.

The last six months the prices have been at around this pricing but previously you could get a copy of Marvel Suns.

              • @jlogic: @jlogic This is a good price I'm sorry to say.

When inflation is this high your money is diminishing in buying power every week. The longer you wait. The more you pay

              • @jlogic: That's my point though… while this is the best new price available.. it shouldn't be this high..
Prices are still stupid high for no reason except that people keep paying the high prices…
I refuse to.. and if that means i have to wait then so be it…

            • @Micsmit:

              Hodlers are worse than magars

Whoa, what's your problem with Magars?

        • +1

I don't see any cards for ahlf this price on eBay. The market decides.

I don't know what universe these PC upgrade socialists think they are living in. But the price is the price. The market decides

  • +7

Serious question, why is this still so expensive?
For some bizarre reason people continue to pay these insane prices.

And it's made page 1 (with 15 upvotes at this time).

    • +1

They pay these prices because it isn't cheaper than this price. It's how pricing works. Lol

    • +1

21 upvotes now…. people are happily paying these prices i guess.

    • I checked a bit back on the steam hardware survey and nvidias 3050-3060 range was 6x the user numbers compared to the equivalent AMD gpus and AMDs market share has slipped to 10%
People just arent buying AMD this gen. I think the RTX/DLSS marketing is giving everyone a vague FOMO worth a 20-30% mark up.

    • I wouldn't be surprised if the explosion of AI tools in the last few months has helped keep demand slightly higher after the fall of crypto, especially nvidia cards which are far easier for running things like Stable Diffusion on windows.

  • should i upgrade from 2080 super?

    • +1

Only if you can offload your 2080 Super for $350 - $450 on marketplace. Not much performance benefit for you on this other than DLSS / RT titles

  • +2

New gen didn't even lowered old gen price, I can't think of 1 electronic or PC part like GPU. If this sells well, I hope apple and all others brand don't follow this pricing strategy.

    • +1

Too late… Apple started this pricing strategy. They have set price floors that their phones don't go below. It's only when retailers stuck with stock that you get good discounts beyond the standard.

  • +2

And pre-owned (second/third hand?) on ebay with unknown history = over $400. (admittedly brands such as Asus).

  • still using my Radeon RX580… love to upgrade to this
but plan to buy a new pc for the coming diablo 4 :)

  • +4

I first started using ozgargain about a year ago to find a deal on this very card.

I waited months and months and this was about the bestish price it ever got to even before this crazy inflation kicked in.

I ended up getting a 3070ti fe off of eBay for 750$ about 3 months ago(when people thought the mining crash was real) and it is awesome for
Me and my mini itx build.

    I would suggest .

Don't hodl. Buy to a budget and get the best card you can afford. All these armchair market analysts are getting their info from clickbait YouTubers.

    • +2

That's what happened to me… kept a eye on the prices and decided to jump in because it didn't look like it was going to get any lower considering the pricing strategy they are using for the 40 series of GPU.

    • Yes that's what I've done buying AMD Radeon 6600XT for $399 just before Christmas… Sold my old GTX760 2gb that served me well since 2014 for $100.. so that's what I consider a budget upgrade for $299 in total for playing recent titles in 1080p/60fps

Played Yakuza 6, Yakuza Like a dragon on ultra settings. Forza 5 is fine but had to reduce quality of textures as 8gb of VRAM is not enough for everything set to ultra (a bit of stutter when driving through towns and villages…may be something else is bottlenecking like cpu i5-9400)

      • Yeps offloading my GTX 1070 once I have this installed.

    • I mean, you should buy if you're not satisfied with the performance you're getting and the price seems worth the performance uplift. If people feel like holding off on a purchase is the better option it's because they, like I, don't feel like it's worth the asking price. I don't really understand this modern consumer trend of trying to push people who aren't buying products and telling them to just buy now, it's never gonna be cheaper, bro. It's like some people are offended that someone doesn't value the product the same as others. Or they've just fully bought into perpetuating FOMO on behalf of the producers.

Of course, this isn't to say I'm defending the people who do the opposite and berate people for buying a product they want at a price they deem fair, either. I'm just sayin'… Let people who want to buy buy and let the people who want to hold hold.

    • +1

6700XT owner here. I sold the EVGA GTX 970 4 GB (2014) for $109 and paid $515 for a Used Sapphire Nitro+ 6700xt on eBay. Guess I'm back to HODLing for a while.

  • See this vendor has 2060 about 200$ cheaper than 3060. Is that a good price for a 2060 today?

  • Currently running a GTX970 and it’s really starting to show it’s age.

Would a 3060Ti run games at 4k 60fps at decent settings, or do i need to be aiming higher up the tree?

I’ve waited this long so i can keep waiting…

    • +1

      Aim higher up the tree…

This card is designed for 1440p gaming.

4K will be really pushing it in terms of visual fidelity.

    • My 6800 should similar performance to 3070 ti, for games like Shadow of Tomb raider or Callisto protocol 4k 60fps might achievable with medium to mid-high settings. 4k ultra settings around 35-46 fps. So, I suggest at least 3080 or 6800 xt for 4K high-ultra settings. 3070 ti or 6800 for 4K mid-high settings, 3060 ti probably 4k midlow-mid settings which probably better play at 1440p high settings.

  • im honestly going to wait for the 4060 Ti. yeah itll be more expensive than this but the performance difference will prob be at least 50%+ and probably 100-150 less watts.
