Adventure Kings Inflatable Stand-up Paddle Board 10ft 6in + Triple-Action Pump $188.95 + $30 Delivery @ 4WD Supa Centre eBay

272

Hi folks - I've been on the lookout for an inflatable stand up paddle board for a while.

This SUP is one of the best-reviewed models out there. It seems very popular with lots of happy users. This deal gets you the SUP and a triple-action pump for $220 total. Given that the pump can cost about $100 it looks like a sweet deal to me! I got it for about $200 using ebay plus, but even $220 seems a good deal.

I'd love to hear any comments or feedback from people with experience of this SUP.

Or save $30 by picking up in store. If you sign up (using new email if need be) you can take a further $10 off to bring it down to $178.95. Don't wait for the code to come through to email. You can ring their call centre and they will apply a generic code and complete sale over the phone. Did the same for their swag last week

Does anyone know how this compares with Tahwalhi Palm Beach? Thanks!

    • don't know from my own experience, but just based on the brand, probably this one is better

    • +3

Literally just went through this on the weekend, partner had the Kings and her friends had the Tahwalhi. I tried both as I wanted one and theTahwalhi is better hands down. The kings is more wobbly, very difficult to have two people on it. The Tahwalhi had much better balance, I think it's because it's more of a pill shape and not as pointy at the top.
Really recommend paying the extra $100. Plus you can get $20 off signing up to BCF's member thing

      • Note however that the Tahwalhi doesn't have a triple-action pump - not sure how much difference this makes.

        • +2

Doesn't take long to get it pumped up, even with single action one.

          • @lgacb08: School me - what's a triple action pump? I get dual-action is pumping on both up and down stroke, but what other action is there?

            • +2

@hotphil: Different pressure/volume ratio via a switch. IE setting 1 you get high volume/low pressure to do a rapid initial fill of your SUP. Then your switch to setting 2 and get low volume/high pressure to bring the PSI up rapidly.

        • -1

          Probably not much.

Might be more weight to the pump than the other one, but they likely are all made in the same factory anyway.

        • A mate has the Tahwalhi and I’ve got the Kings’. The pump that came with his looks small but I believe is the triple action. It pumped as fast/ faster than the Kings triple action while we’re at the beach last weekend.

      • +2

Exactly what I wanted to know. Much appreciated!

The ones at Anaconda are much better built than the king's ones.

      https://www.anacondastores.com/water-sports/beach-surf/paddl…

A little more expensive than the king's, but worth the extra expense.

I have bought both and paddled both. Tahwalhi is much better - construction and design. Now I got two Tahwalhi - keep an eye on them as they go on special quite often.

I had to return the Kings one, had a chemical smell in the car after I picked it up, patches of glue missing - was a nightmare with customer service and returns process. They told us to go to store, we arrived and the store closed. Rang headoffice, they said they don't talk to the store. Had heaps of other unhappy customers too.

Not purchasing from Kings again, they seem like low quality products made in China and then branded with Kings.

I was going to get the Kings one but there were a few comments online (including on here) from people that had both the Kings 1 and the BCF Tahwalhi range that the quality was better on the BCF boards that I went the BCF option. I did see heaps of kings ones to compare over the past few weeks, the Kings ones are much pointer than the Tahwalhi boards and if you want to load multiple people on the board eg kids then I think the Tahwalhi are better for that.

Now I did get to use the triple action pump from Kings and it is a better pump than the double action Tahwalhi but I have bought SUP valve to use a 12v compressor anyway which was like $9 bucks from ebay.

  • These are cheap and pretty good. However I would recommend purchasing in store and checking it thoroughly before going home. We had one where the fin wouldn't slide in as the part was from another set(but same brand, they use multiple suppliers) and another one where the non-slip surface was already starting to lift. Also beware their online purchases can't be returned for warranty or refund in store. We also purchased one online and the board(delivered quickly) and the pump(took a couple of weeks to arrive)

Yeh quality control is a bit iffy. Our board is fine but got another recently with the single action pump and pressure gauge didn't work. Was pumping and pumping thinking surely this should register by now, took it off and tested with another gauge and was already well past 15psi (first time I had used a manual pump on it, had only ever used an electric inflator). Took back to store and got it swapped over (was in-store purchase)

While I know they don't give refunds for change of mind, only credit, I wasn't aware of the in-store/online separation. Having a look I see they have conflicting information (re change of mind anyway)

Will this make it to New Zealand if you float out of Melbourne bay?

    • +3

Recent events suggest you will be blown back to Swan Island.

    • +1

You'll definitely make it out to Swan Island. Not sure if anyone has tried paddling an inflatable SUP beyond that and to NZ, but give it a crack and let us know how it goes aye!?

EDIT: battler beat me to it.

    • Relax guys, referring to the 4 teenagers from last month who were bloody lucky not to end up near NZ.

  • +2

These are cheap and cheerful. Ours sprung a leak after 1 months use. Wouldn't buy again.

I have this SUP and the triple action pump. The board is good, the pump is effective when working, but breaks easily (something to do with switching between the modes). Getting it replaced under warranty was painful but I got there in the end. A friend had a similar experience with a faulty Kings triple action pump . Obviously this is only anecdotal evidence with a small sample size. Just keep your receipt for the pump!

  • Recently bought the Seacliff SUP with Kayak seat and really impressed with the quality. Only used it once but the kayak seat is very handy and kids enjoyed using it. Can fit 2 kids or 1 kid and 1 adult comfortably.

    • Looks good, wondering if there's a way to make it cheaper.

    • lol I doubt anyone has ever paid $799 for that one!

    • any feedback/comparison with the BCF Tahwalhi?
how good/worthwhile is the kayak seat?

      • +1

This is my first SUP so can't really compare with others but the kayak seat is good according to the kids, just need to really tighten the hooks so it won't move, it also has small bag at the back to store small items.

      • 125kg max user load isn't a great sign, BCF and Kings are 150kg. Gives an indication of the quality imo.

        • Could be because of the size difference, the Kings SUP is a bit longer and is suited for touring with its pointy shape, but they will also be less stable than the wider boards. The rounded edge is more stable and suited for recreational activities such as fishing, yoga etc. and easier for beginners.

    • I have this SUP. I think mine stated 110kg wght recommendation. 90kg standing in the middle and the water is lapping the board. It's fine when lying on the board. Something to consider buying a SUP.

      • I notice it says not to inflate more than 12 psi. That seems quite low compared to others of 15 psi or more. Not surprised it would be bending with that weight if that's the pressure it's got in it.

        • I think they have changed the specifications since I bought my cfx310. I'm sure the pressure was 14psi. The wght limitation is due to the 10cm thickness. It's also not very rigid. It's fine if you weigh under 70kg.

          • @Marky66: Since you have the Kings and this SUP with kayak, which one do you prefer and why?

            • @johnyBgood: I've never used the Seacliff SUP as a kayak (as I don't have a kayak paddle).
The Kings is better suited due to my wght (about 85kg)

  • Can someone explain the draw of these? I see people using them and I can't help but think compared to a kayak, surfboard, surfski, windsurfer, kite, it seems boring. Are the people I've seen just using them wrong? (They stand up, shift the paddle from one side of the board to the other, but don't seem to go more than say 50cm. Most people just stand in the same place for some reason!? Then after a while they jump into the water and paddle back to shore. Is that really all there is to it?) If so I don't get it. No speed, no wind, no thrill. Just stand up and struggle slowly forwards, twisting their torso, and they all have this miserable look on their face. I see them and can't help but think of the first time I used a windsurfer… (once I could stand upright with the sail vertical at the same time, lol) so much fun!

    • +2

No wind, no speed, no thrill, just chill. I think it's meant for relaxing exploration.

      • +2

And some exercise. Uses your legs and core balancing and paddling. Far more than you do on a kayak.

        • Hm, ok… thanks (to both replies).

  • +1

Yeah kings is all garbage everything you buy is not going to last you for long. And if you need any customer service they will throw shit at you like they literally hate their customers. Terrible company

    • I read people saying this same thing in a motorhome forum a few months ago. I only half-listened and nearly bought a secondhand Kings generator. Then I looked up reviews on it and found multiple people complaining the oil seal on the main shaft allows oil past it (from new!) into the area between the motor and electrical half, leaving a puddle of oil on the ground.

I don't understand why business don't lift their game.

As the motorhome group example shows, over time more people are going to be told by other people with experience of multiple product failures to avoid a brand. Next people who have never bought it repeat what they heard. Until even if the brand does lift it's game it takes a decade or more to fight off the bad reputation and declining sales they caused for themselves. In that one generator case, all over a few dollar seal a factory in "some" country (gee, I wonder where - it's a mystery) cheaped-out on. Well, assuming the rest of the parts aren't crap too.

I'd rather be the company who fixes their mistakes, recalls and replaces something dirt cheap like an oil seal which takes under 5 minutes, demands better parts/products from "those" factories or they'll take their future orders elsewhere, and as my businesses reputation grows the others will continue destroying theirs until they go out of business and everyone is now saying, "His may cost only a little more but he holds C___a to a higher standard than the crap they dump on other businesses." Better to make less $ per unit, but sell 20x more of them and not have a growing tidal wave of people rubbishing my brand.

  • I purchased this with the pump for my husband for Christmas. He surfs, rides trail bikes, trial bikes, cycles etc. He is a very active 65 year old and he wanted to try this out as his knees are not good. He tried it for the first time this weekend, on a lake. He said, yes it was a bit boring even after he got the two dogs to get on with him (one at a time). One dog liked it - the other did not. Anyway, he wants to take it in the surf. so yes, not overly exciting but an Ok option.

Edited to add: he also purchased the valve thing and pumped it with an electric pump and finished it off with the hand pump. Not triple action though

  • +1

I have this Kings SUP and find it stable and easy to use. No signs of wear. I use a electric pump and apply sunscreen whilst waiting for the SUP to inflate, that way I'm not buggered before getting into the water.
