    driver etc etc

decent price if you wanna test the water

    • +16

I shall copy this comment and await my turn to paste next week.
      Cheers!

    • +3

      Is it waterproof?

    • wonder how quiet these are compared to the 3070s

    • The hardware review sites are lazy, I have only seen one updated review the other week that used Intel's new GPU drivers that claim to provide up to x2 performance boost gains in some games.

Need more reviews to see where Intel is at on the drivers now, Steven from Gamers Nexus bitching about the drivers from 5 months ago is not useful now.

  • +3

Are there any updated benchmarks with the current drivers? I want to know what this is equivalent to fps wise

    • +14

Equivalent to a 3060 on most games since the driver update to my knowledge

      • +13

Doesn't that make this great bang for buck if it's close to 3060 level?

          • @buffalo bill: No.

            1) RTX 3060 is more capable than the GTX 1080 in raw performance and in technological features.

            2) ARC 750 is more like an RTX 3060Ti in performance, along with supporting similar technological features.

            3) It doesn't matter about how old the tech is, rather it is the price to performance. If a modern low cost GPU is now roughly equal to the performance of an older expensive high end card, that shouldn't matter. However, again, this GPU is more powerful than the GTX 1080 and has more tech features (Ray tracing, XeSS, AV1)

        • +2

Speaking as a 3060 owner, yep, if you don't need any Nvidia specific features for things like machine learning, and it's mainly for gaming. That being said, AMD cards are also much better value than Nvidia for gaming, so it might be worth comparing against those.

        • yes it is but its not from AMD so you wont have people here gushing over it.

A lot of the drivers issues have gotten fixed and it gets regular upgrades

      • +8

In most newer games these are closer to a 3060ti and are a good bit faster than a 3060 even with launch drivers. (i.e Cyberpunk, RE Village, Doom Eternal) , source: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/intel-arc-a750/

        • +3

Specs wise I believe they were closer to 3070 from memory so it's still a slight disappointment.

Though, a great first up effort imo.

          • +5

@scuderiarmani: Yeah in 3d mark this comfortably beats a 3060 ti so the potential is there if Intel Carries on with gpus

          • +4

@scuderiarmani: It could potentially get there with driver updates. It's like how amd is now, when merely 5 years ago, we kept saying nvidia only.

But never buy on a promise.

        • +2

It depends a lot on each specific game. Sometimes performs like a champ while other times falls flat on it's face.
Recent update has fixed a lot of the older titles which is great. That was a huge issue when it first launched

      • -3

Cool story, now turn on DLSS.

  • +28

If you have cash to spare, support these Intel gpus

  • +6

for the most part older dx9/10 titles saw the greatest driver boost, dx11/12 had little gains

    • +3

I bet they aimed to have these done by 2021 when GPU prices were even higher than now, but then had delays with these, and when they realised prices were falling and they didn't have time to optimise the drivers in time for launch, they just focussed on DX12 first.

  • +12

Love the look of these, wish all the stupid ugly designs from the other 2 could piss off.

Nothing more pointless than 99% of builds hiding the fans and their rgb crap anyway.

Have watched many YT videos showing improvements with these since launch. Hope Intel keeps it up.

    • Huh? I think Intel is the only one which has RGB lighting on their reference cards.
Also most cases have a glass or acrylic side panel to see components

      • The cards aren't usually vertical.

My bad if the fan side is rgb too. Regardless, the card overall is cleaner.

    • +2

You must have eye balls on your knees ? I rarely see my PC case

      • So your case is on the floor?

        • +4

          Of course đź‘Ť

        • +6

          Is that somehow unusual?

          • +2

@Diji: If you like cleaning it all the time, great.

            If you don't, it's gross.

Add in carpet or pets, or both, magnify by 10.

            • @scuderiarmani: Eh, my desk gets dusty so fast (super drafty house) that I have to wonder how much more it could possibly collect sitting under it. Not that it's an option for me, I'd have to ditch one of my monitors just to do that and it's definitely not worth it for me. No carpet or pets here, though, for which my allergies are eternally grateful!

              • -3

@Diji: There's literally a million YT videos on the topic.

Desk will never be as dirty as the floor. Especially if you are loaded up with decent intake.

Carpet and Pets obviously a million times worse for it though.

Only reason I could justify the floor, if you clean it too, would be to get around noise. Space requirements obviously influence it too. I got a large corner desk so no issues. Room has no direct airflow and sunlight (town house) and hard flooring so is pretty much ideal.

                • +7

@scuderiarmani: I can't say I've ever been curious enough about where to place my computer that I've ever thought to look up videos on the topic. :) Fact of the matter is, ain't no room on my desk so on the floor it goes!

                  • +2

                    @Diji: I don't look it up.

Cleaning, upgrading and maintaining PC's regularly comes up on the main tech channels on YT. It's discussed ad nauseum.

                    • @scuderiarmani: I do subscribe to GN and HUB but I can't say I've seen anything about where to put your PC or how to clean it. Guess I just tune out stuff that I don't find interesting lol. Or it comes up on channels like LTT which I avoid as best I can.

                    • +3

@scuderiarmani: Putting your PC case on the floor is absolutely fine - we've been doing it for decades with no issues other than an occasional vacuum of the intake filters đź‘Ś

                      • @Nom: That reminds me, I should clean mine soon, it's long overdue.

                      • @Nom: So you clean it, which was my concern.

                        Many don't.

                    • -1

@scuderiarmani: It's discussed to death by pedantic nerds. In the meantime my beefy rig sits on the floor and get's it's filters vacuumed once every 6 months, and it's perfectly fine.

            • @scuderiarmani: Nah wooden floor, not pet, I cleans it every 3 months or so …

            • @scuderiarmani: I have mine on carpet but it's not shag carpet and my cats don't really shed much. I clean my PC out roughly 1-2yrs and there is barely any dust or hair in it. I don't even have the side panel on it, just sitting there on the floor with it off. I blow out some customers PCs every 6 months and they are chock full of dust, depends on how your room is oriented and how dusty your soil is I guess.

        • +2

scuderiarmani I am mostly with on this one. It is optimal to have your computer 'off' the floor (not necessarily 'on' your desk, just off the floor), to limit dust collection.
Having said that, enthusiasts and probably professionals that are heavy PC users (Video editors, 3D graphic designers etc), are the ones who'd be more likely to put their PC on their desk.
Your PC won't explode if it's on the floor, but it may shorten the life if it isn't cleaned regularly, particularly concerning is if the power supply's fan is facing down, I hope your PC case has at least some small feel to allow that fan to get air and cool the power supply down.

          • +2

@conza: Obviously I've offended many. Didn't think it was out there to suggest floor is far from optimal. It's very common knowledge. But obviously you bring up one thing it attracts everyone against it anyway.

  • Could be collectors item if Intel folds on GPUs later.

    • Doesn't look like they're folding anytime soon based off leaks, just more focus going into datacentre while reducing amount of skus they release for consumer market.

      • Makes a lot of sense in the sku side.

I'm surprised that the extra profit they can make off a 3070 vs 3070ti is worth the effort binning, manufacturing, and maintaining an entirely different sku.

Intel could definitely get away with basically 3 well priced FHD, QHD and "flagship" cards.

      • Will Intel fold if Folding@Home becomes supported? :D

    • +3

Their i740 GPU didn't become much of a collector's item.

      • +2

by contrast, if you still got a Voodoo, you can sell that and buy this card for the same price lol

    • Nothing is a collectors item anymore

      • +6

        Except Nintendo stuff and LEGO

        • Not all LEGO either.

    • Literally no sign of them stopping except if you follow dumb youtubers who love spreading misinformation

  • +8

Been waiting for part 3 of the Linus Tech Tips "Arc Challenge". They must have forgotten… again

    • +1

facts, especially after the major dx9 driver updates

  • +2

My son's pc has a 1660ti in it. He mainly plays Roblox but is starting to get into some different games. Would this be an OK upgrade ?

    • +2

Yes it gives around 50% more fps

    • +4

Absolutely! And you will be supporting another competitor entering the market, the more support they get the more the project continues. More competitors are always a good thing for the consumer.

      • +24

You talk about Intel as if they're your local farmer trying to sell their produce at the farmer's market.

Buy the best product for your needs, if a Nvidia or AMD card offers better performance/more features for the price then so be it.

But you choosing to buy or not to buy that one card from Intel will not make or break their business. It is not the responsibility of the end consumer to keep uncompetitive businesses afloat. Otherwise every failed business venture could be blamed on the customers for not "supporting them enough".

        • +14

No one is saying Intel is some local mum and pop shop. But competition is very important, especially in the GPU space. $800 USD Mid-Tier are only normalised because nVidia and AMD have a duopoly and nVidia in particular are happy to increase margins beyond any reasonable amount at the cost of the consumers.

Intel will 100% kill the Arc line if sales remain low, thankfully being so big they may keep it going for a few years but not if no one buys it - And thanks to our old friend capitalism companies only care about quarters, if things aren't successfully in a short time frame they get canned. Just look at the 100+ things google have canned because they could only make millions not billions from them.

          • @rickdwp: Masters (hardware) are a good analogy .

          • @rickdwp: Literally the only reason why people ask to support Intel's Arc GPUs is so that they can drive prices down low enough that those same people then buy Nvidia cards instead, and the cycle continues.

            So much for virtue signaling.

        • No I am not lol, I am acting as if they are entering a new market, if they dont make the sales then they decide the market isn't viable and they cancel the project. Like I said, more competitors = good for the consumer, recommending people buy intel isn't to help intel, its to help the market, I think you may have misunderstood my point.

        • I definitely get what you mean but it is admittedly a pretty abnormal situation due to the PC graphics card market having been in a ridiculous state for years now.

      • +2

Early edition tech is never a good idea in machines not operated by people with the technical expertise to manage issues. NVIDIA or amd will cost more but much lower probability of hassles at this point in time.

      • I used to think that about Nvidia when they just started and I purchased my RIVA TNT even thou the 3DFX Voodoo 3 was the gold standard… Look where we are now… $3000 GPUs from jacketman…

    • +5

no not really, I would aim for the 3060 ti or like a 6600 XT, 6700, 6700 XT
1660 ti is good for 1080p so I wouldn't too much about an upgrade unless he's on 1440p or wants rtx where he should aim for a rtx 3060 ti and above

      • +9

        I've gotta agree.
Buying this is like being a beta tester for Intel graphics.
Ok if you are into tech and like tinkering, but if not, personally I'd I'd stick with Nvidia/AMD for now.

        • +2

especially for a kid not fully into tech, he definitely doesn't want deal with issues with drivers and most likely he won't know what to do

          • +1

@Al Mawsil: Unfortunately he's special needs so definitely not into tech. Just enjoys playing a few games with his mates

            • @ThePunchingBag: try going nvidia or amd route he most likely won't run into issues and can enjoy gaming as much as he can, good on you for looking out for him

              • @Al Mawsil: So the 3060 or 6600 or 6600 XT ???

                Obviously price is a factor

                • +1

@ThePunchingBag: What's your budget and go from there from your local pc retailer (ple, msy, pccasegear, storm, etc)

                • +23

performs 10% better than 6600 XT and is fastest card out of all three except for rt which rtx 3060 wins

                  value/performance per dollar: rx 6600 > rx 6700 > 6600 XT > RTX 3060
Ray Tracing: RTX 3060 is best and the AMD cards are useless for it
                  1440p: rx 6700 > RTX 3060 > 6600 XT > 6600
                  1080p: rx 6700 > 6600 XT > 3060 > 6600

My personal pick for budget is the rx 6600 solid 1080p card and is max 10 percent slower than 6600 xt and RTX 3060 while being a lot more cheaper then the rest. If are willing to spend more, rx 6700 is the next card you should aim for great performance and great price and can deliver solid 1440p and destroy all games 1080p max settings (except rt)

Hope this helps you and sorry for taking so long to reply and any grammar mistakes and if you have any questions I'll try to answer to the best of my abilities

                  • +1

@Al Mawsil: Absolute legend. That gives me a great guide & very much appreciated.

No need to apologise with time taken to reply…

    • +1

Nah only about 50% faster, not worth it to give your kid an experimental product.

Wait a few months and we may see something much better around this price.

    • +9

      Not since the December update

      • So it can play backwards compatible games like their drivers are really up there with Nvidia now.

        Hell fury and thunder.

        • It seems so for most games, although best to do your research before biting the bullet if that's your primary use-case

        • -4

P,s remind my self, if it's technology or crazy specials post.

Expect paranoid toxic people in the room, not all but majority.

          • +5

@LoserScott: You got downvoted because it wasn't valid reason to neg the deal
Nothing to do with paranoia or toxicity.

            • -4

@FireRunner: Never begged 🤷🏼 but it's to be expected on this site.

I'll keep my on you in the future since you seem to be problem.

              • +1

@LoserScott: Did you accidentally neg vote the deal?
I saw your comment with the neg vote though it’s been revoked now

                • @FireRunner: Neg vote gets automatically removed if you downvote his comment enough times, it's why commenting is a requirement before you can leave a negative vote so that if it's for an invalid reason as deemed by the community it will be removed :)

              • +1

@LoserScott: You negged the deal, there was the big ol' negative mark next to your name, that is why I, and others, down voted you. You asked a reasonable question, but the neg wasn't valid. It isn't a toxic community, though there are a few users that are trying to make it that way.

          • @LoserScott: You added the neg well after asking the question. And after people helped you. So you gladly got negged.

    • +7

Why are you negging the deal?

    • +12

I wouldn't buy it either, but it's not neg worthy.
It's a good deal for this product.
If you don't like the product that's fine, but don't need to neg.

    • +3

Negging with a question? Here's a downvote to revoke your neg.

  • +6

Intel should dive into the low-profile market. I'm still waiting for the successor to my 1650 low profile. It's been 3 generations already!!!

    • Given the the 1650 was generally for prebuilt machines in mind, which will always require some +rep before these companies commit, I'd imagine the next generation will likely see Intel offer something similar to the A380 for that market in mind…

The leaked roadmap also suggests they will move further into the budget market in 2023 before their flagship model in 2024
