What Subscriptions Are You Signed up to? Which Ones Do You Think Are Worth It?

Just curious what kind of subscriptions people are signed up to.

I myself am subscribed to a couple of streaming services and Audible, but am considering signing up for a Masterclass subscription and ditching one of the other ones.

I would create a poll but since you can't select multiple options here's a list of potential subscriptions people might be signed up to:

  • Streaming (e.g. Netflix, Stan, Paramount+, Disney+)
  • Audiobook (e.g. Audible)
  • Gift Box (e.g. Sakuraco, Lootcrate)
  • Fitness (e.g. Gym, Centr, Peloton)
  • Coffee (e.g. Coffee on Cue, Allways Coffee)
  • Toilet paper (e.g. Spacewhite, Ecocheeks)
  • Underwear (e.g. Knobby)
  • Vehicle (e.g. HelloCars, CarBar)
  • Magazine (e.g. Money Magazine, Men's Health)
  • Wine (e.g. Wine Selectors, Naked Wines)
  • Food (e.g. Hello Fresh, Lite N' Easy)
  • Porn (e.g OzBargain Pornhub Shared Family (no incest) Subscription)

Personally I reckon Amazon Prime is worth it, Audible is sort of worth it and Disney+ could be ceased.

What subscriptions are you signed up to? Which ones do you think are worth the money? Any interesting ones that you look forward to getting each month?

  • Spotify, kayo during the AFL season, tv/movie streaming is a discrace and I will never pay for any of them Until they grow up and realise they have to become like Spotify and put everything on one platform. Get my own movies and tv shows free.

    • kayo during the AFL season

Haven't watched AFL in ages, can't you just watch it on 7 Plus?

      • No games are on 7plus, and 65% of them are only on Foxtel

  • PSN and Prime.

The wife and mother-in-law have between them:

    Amazon Prime
    Netflix
    Stan
    Binge
    Disney+

I hate that they spend so much on the streaming services but at the same time I happily sit there and watch whatever my wife puts on TV.

I don't have any services myself except for Kayo which I signed up for 1 month to allow me to watch the BBL.

    YouTube premium worth it
Netflix - stuck paying it bacause of family
Disney - stole family members account
Spotify - stole family member but normally just use youtube
Prime - cancelled just get someone else to order my crap now
Audible - shared with family, I am an on and off again member
Kayo - pay for it just for the father in law
Stan - stuck paying for family use occasionally
    Binge - cancelled
    Paramount - cancelled

Trying to cancel Netflix and Stan or just have one of them at a time but the parents struggle when the button on the remote for Netflix doesn't work.

    • Amazon Prime
    • Youtube Premium + Music (replaced Spotify with this, best decision ever, two services for same price as Spotify roughly)
    • Sony PlayStation Network (prolly don't need anymore either)
    • VPN (for torrenting everything else!)

Cancelled Netflix and Fetch TV recently, wasn't using either much and can Torrent what I am missing anyway.

I cancelled my ebay Plus - here's a hot tip though - every year, try cancelling your Ebay Plus, and it will offer you a $20 voucher, which is almost the cost of an annual sub. I did that a year ago, and accepted the voucher. Then last year I tried cancelling again and it offered me the same deal…!

  • Spotify is definitively worth it esp under a family plan.

  • Probably been said but YouTube premium family (turkey VPN)

YouTube without it is basically unusable now. Didn't realise how intrusive and unrelenting the ads are.

Have my dad, brother, partner and tv on it.

    • Doesn't Adblock work for you on Youtube? Unless you mainly watch through the app?

  • Ongoing..
    Foxtel
    Netflix
    Nba league pass (argentina)
    Spotify premium
    Advertiser news corp
    Australian
    Smh/age
    Nytimes

  • Amazon prime is what I use the most

  • I use:

    • YouTube (India)
    • Spotify (shared family plan)
    • Amazon

Above get used a lot so if the cheaper option were fixed I’d probably sign on full price. I’m enjoying the saas model as I recently bought a 1 month subscription to a video provider and downloaded everything I wanted to watch. Compare that to buying movies or spending time downloading it’s saved a lot.

    If only Audible was cheaper.

    • True. At $16.45 per month it’s quite expensive even if you do get a free book each month.

      • $5-$7 per month would be OK.
They would get alot more customers.

  • Gym
AminoZ - Cause it's just like depositing $10 each month, aminoZ member discounts on each product and when I am ready to buy again, I get free delivery. There is literally no out of pocket expenses with this.
Spotify Prem (Philippines sub) - Yearly Sub

  • iCloud 2TB
    Discord (Turkey)
    Amazon prime
    Random online game membership
    Nintendo online
Occasional 1 month signups on random apps, usually discounted for first month.

    Free ones:
    eBay
    Microsoft Office (student domain offer)

Amazon is definitely worth it, eBay not so much imo. I find that I don’t use eBay much anymore. Amazon next-day delivery is nice, my go to for necessities/consumables like hand soap, shampoo, toothpaste, tp etc. - stock up when they’re on sale. Cheaper than Colesworth on sale, and even more so if I stack with occasional GCs purchased at a discount/with bonus.

iCloud is pretty useful for auto-backup. I’ve lost months of data before because I forgot to backup to the computer.

  • YouTube premium
    Spotify
    Netflix
    Amazon prime
    Crunchy roll
    Google One (200gb)
    Adobe CC

Most are subscribed via VPN. Luckily i also got a prime subscription until 2026 thanks to telstra .
