been holding out for the black for some time, maybe i should just rock the rose pink in my engineering office, doesnt look bad

I’ve bought the black one a few weeks back. The letters are a little hard to read without the backlight. You’ll be fine if you touch type but every now and then I’m need to use the function keys so I’ve left the backlight on at the minimum brightness level. Battery life is good and the keyboard is very soft. I think I prefer this over the Magic Keyboard (mini).

If I need to buy another one I will choose the white (pale grey) one and get Officeworks to price beat it from: https://www.umart.com.au/product/logitech-mx-keys-mini-minim…

I have the same issue with the white one actually. Keys are hard to see in certain times of the day and I have to rely on backlighting

        • Damn! Pink might be the one to go for?!?! lol

    • +6

For the extra savings I'm rocking pink.

    • i was thinking the same and also ended up getting the rose pink cos it looks ok and it stands out from other keyboards

      • I used my white one for 1 day and haven't touched it since, I'm gonna put mine up in the classifieds for cheap if anyone wants to grab it.

    For those wondering, it's a multi-device keyboard.

  • +3

I love the feel of this keyboard, and the one button switching between Mac, PC and Xbox saves a lot of hassle. 10/10.

    • You can connect it to xbox?

      • Yep, you just set it up on your computer first using the receiver. Plug the receiver into the xbox, choose the input you set it up on and you're off and running. Same deal with the MX mouse (but you need a 2nd receiver). I play a bit of Parkitect via GeForce Now on the Xbox Edge browser that way.

        • Ahhh yep - was hoping for Bluetooth lol

So many pricey keyboards are losing the trackpad

    • +2

To be fair I'd rather pair dedicated devices I actually like, than getting sub-par built-in trackpad.

I have this (in black and mechanical version)
Such a joy to use everyday. So glad I bought it and would recommend saving up and wait for a deal on the mechanical version (I have brown switches). Goes really well with mx 3s mouse

    • +1

How loud are the keys on the mechanical version?

      • I watched some YouTube videos before buying mine. There is a louder version than mine and a quieter version.

  • This one or the K380? I wonder what is the difference

    • +2

This has backlighting and is rechargeable

    • +1

I wondered this too as a long-time K380-user. Typing feel will be subjective (though I should note the K380’s keys are round and that can take getting used to) but this might help with understanding the spec differences:

      https://www.rtings.com/keyboard/tools/compare/logitech-k380-…

      • So I got curious and picked up an MX Mini. It was an adjustment back to larger and square keys after smaller round ones, but even though I don’t have large hands it’s fine for me. It wasn’t mind-blowingly different however I can feel that it’s a nice keyboard and I do enjoy typing on it.

    • I was using a K380 for a few years and bought this Mx Mini last month. K380 was good but the MX Mini is more comfortable due to the larger keys.

  • +2

MX Keys Mini is full size keyboard … i.e. about 153mm from centre to centre of the A to L keys.

K380 is smaller .. about 143mm from centre to centre of the A to L keys.

MX Keys Mini is ruined by the backlight .. worst keyboard ever.

    • +3

The keys are full-width or regular scale, but the keyboard itself is much smaller than a full size keyboard.

Important to differentiate between the two.

      • what do you mean?

sometimes we get scammed because keyboards are advertised as full size keys but the keys are crammed together, ie not 153mm from A to L.

MX Keys Mini is 153mm .. but yea, might have a smaller delete button or something . dunno .. most important is the frequently used keys.

anyway, MX Keys Mini is real shocker with the backlight .. not usable in dark light at all .. and whilst the keys look and feel very nice, they are just terrible to type.

        • +2

"Full size keyboard" is regularly used to describe a 108-key keyboard with arrows, the home/end cluster and a numpad.

The mini has full-size keys and spacing, but it's missing 30-odd keys to be called full-size.

I do wish more people would check the key width and spacing like you did, though. You're onto something.

You know, someone bought this keyboard and a MX Mechanical Mini, the bastard returned this keyboard in the MX Mechanical box.

How I know? I bought a MX Mechanical Mini, only to find this f**king thing inside.

It makes you wonder do they not check?

    • OMG where did you buy this from?

      • +1

        This very store.

Refunded without issues, but a waste of time nonetheless.

    • They're not a specialist PC store so their staff probably just see that the keyboard inside looks kinda like the picture on the box and approve it. They probably have a lot of items to go through so can't spend too much time on it.

    • Did you buy "new" or "open box"? This same thing happened to a guy buying an NVIDIA 3080ti for a few grand. Someone else returned a 3070 in the other box. They looked the same despite a huge price difference (especially at the time). The guy bought new from a fulfilled by Amazon listing.

      • +1

Open box. There were a few available at the time, picked that particular one because it was marked "like new", the others were "very good". So I actually paid slightly more among the open boxes but only to receive something totally different.

That wasn't the first time though, ordered a new 10TB WD Black, received Red drive. Not sure how they screwed that one up, as the UPCs are completely different (it's not like Red drive was in ESD bag marked Black).

But kinda glad that they sent the wrong drive, because turns out they don't wrap/protect drives, I know HD can sustain many Gs of drop but still I don't like how it got throw around in a padded envelop.

Refunds were quick in both instances. Was lucky the price reduced further and bought from local shop afterwards.

  • This or Keychron K2 v2 mechanical keyboard. Decesion time.

    • +1

I reckon Logitech has the best implementation/most robust wireless technology, most of their late model keyboards/mice support 3 channels of either their proprietary radio frequency or Bluetooth, so very flexible connecting to multiple devices and to switch between them.

That is probably the only reason I stick with Logitech, if that is not important you, I would look elsewhere, there are so many options.

    • MX Keys Mini is a shocker ..very bad backlight so you cannot use in dark rooms .. and the keys looks and feel great, but just a bad and inaccurate typing experience. Avoid at all costs.

  • Not sure if they price matched an ebay seller called ozauction but i bought my keyboard from there today was their lastone (got it for $71.35) then this deal expires an hour later.
