Thanks op, 2021 model and its now 2023…I’m waiting for the fire sale! 😆

Buy a better oled cheaper right now.. bird in the hand and all that

    • when's the fire sale? was considering LG G2 from jb (on sale too)

      • +3

Fire sale will happen as soon as stock is unattainable, aside from a display unit one random Ozbargainer happens to see at a store in the outback.

If you are keen on the G2, that will go down in price around April? (Expected release date of the G3).

I'd wait around closer to EOFY (June) which is where the fire sale begins. I picked up the G1 (last year) for just under 5K (I think it was $4.8K) for a 77" (delivered) through JBHiFi.
So G2 even the smaller sized should go for even less.

Note the G2 doesn't come with feet, so if you are looking for a G2 make sure you wall mount it or factor in around $345 extra if you need the stand (which doesn't come with the TV)

        • Thanks both, will wait :)

From the reviews, they say G2 for games while sony for movies. I prefer movies these days so will wait for sony's

    • This one is better than A80K as per rtings.com comparison tool.

This TV is much better than the C or G series no matter the year. Clarity, tone mapping, upscaling, gradients, etc are so superior on the Sony. This is also better than 2022 Sony OLED A80K.

      • I have this one and the only two downsides are very small onboard memory for apps and screen brightness. This is not great in bright rooms - you will see reflectioms all around.

        • All OLEDs are bad for bright rooms. Its like a mirror if theres a lot of black on the screen. This model has a semi matte finish on the 55 and 65, so is actually a bit better than others for reflections. Its still a problem especially if youve come from a high end LCD, so you know the difference

  • Does anyone actually have this TV and can comment on what the reflection is like in a relatively brightly lit room. I currently have a 2012 Sony Bravia which I think performs well with this particular issue.
I have to use Chromecast as it's not a smart TV but I am looking for something for Free to Air and Movies I don't game much

    • I have a 65" one for more than a year, the reflection is good enough for small lights, but you will see a bit uncomfortable for harsh lights directly to the screen. Other than that, everything else is just beautiful on the eyes plus the recent VRR update is just on time for modern gaming.

I've got a 77" OLED and use it in what most people would consider a fairly bright room.
Unless I am watching something that is really DARK (lots of black scenes) you won't notice the light reflections when watching (standard HD TV channels) and most movies.

This is from my own personal experiences and even in natural light (sun) I never had any issues with the quality of the picture or see reflections.
The reflections for me are not an issue and shouldn't really be a major deciding factor, although it should be noted that 'some' may find the reflective gloss annoying.

I agree 100% that QLED TVs are much brighter than OLED TVs but the quality is with OLED (at least for now).
If you have the money and had to pick between OLED and QLED, I'd highly recommend OLED.

    • Yeah, definitely. The new LG G3 will be on better than QLED on brightness this year.
