I'm really curious as to how many people have bought coffee from Airjo at full price

They're okay at 40% off inc shipping but imo I'd rather just pay a bit more for nicer coffee

    • +1

      What do you consider "nicer"?

      • +1

I just grabbed a couple of bags from Twin Peaks and I'm really enjoying them. Had some really nice blends and single origins from Blacklist too.

Grabbed a bag of Lime Blue's Brazil single origin from one of their deals recently and preferred it over Airjo's for about the same price

There's so many roasters now to choose from that have awesome coffee

        • Thanks, will keep an eye out for those.

        • How does Twin Peaks compare to Lime Blue?
I am looking some beans have better or equal quality compare to Lime Blue

        • I second recommending Lime Blue. Prices are comparable to Airjo on 30% discount and seems to be good quality single origins.
          They also allow delayed shopping.

          • @HomebrewFC: How much taste difference between Airjo and Lime blue?
I have bought lime blue but not tried Airjo yet.

            • @JinWu: I like Airjo's dark roasts (Thunderchild is a standout).
Lime Blue, being single origins, will all be unique. I haven't tried Lime Blue's blends.

            • @JinWu: I've had both and MUCH prefer lime blue. Airjo was weak in comparison.

        • Screen shot these and I will try them too.

        • +1

Lime Blue is inferior to Airjo in my (obviously subjective) opinion.

Lime Blue was bitter and thin tasting.

          • @Shoocat: Which beans you tried from LB & how do you drink and brew your coffee and what machine and grinder you use?

            • +1

@huntabargain: Tried their Colombia single origin, Moments to memories blend, South Central blend and several others.

Drink a mix of milk coffees and espresso, with a Breville Bambino Plus and Breville Smart Grinder.

I get great results with a range of coffee beans so I don't think it's my technique. Like I say, taste is subjective so YMMV.

              • @Shoocat: So which roaster and type of beans you prefer ?

                • @huntabargain: I've used Airjo as my daily drinker recently, but ordered some of the Inglewood coffee from the other deal - looking forward to trying that out.

I'm open to anything and often buy beans locally when I travel and if available.

              • +3

@Shoocat: "…taste is subjective so YMMV."

This is the major point. Lots of OzBargainers ask what coffee is the best, but really, it depends on your personal taste.

    • +11

I was not impressed at all with their Sumatra, was weak and lacked the deep flavour I get from other roasters.

    • +6

      See the latest Inglewood post.

There’s a significant difference in quality. I’ve found Airjo to be lacking.

Even with deals, let’s face it—when thought about properly, even with a 20% difference in price, we might be talking $1.20 per cup, instead of $1.00. Is that really worth quibbling over?

Some won’t notice the difference, but I’m posting for those unaware to be open to trying another roaster. There are plenty of better ones out there.

      • Ah thanks for reminding me about the Inglewood post. I've never tried them so was going to grab a few bags.

I definitely have the same thoughts as you. If I'm willing to pay $4-6+ for a coffee at a cafe then I'll happily pay an extra 20c for a nicer cup at home

        • +1

Tried both, Inglewood is noticably better. It is in the region of twice the price though, depending on sales. Airjo is fine if you are not very particular - better than supermarket trash.

        • +1

Username most certainly does not check out.

      • +1

My other half really likes how strong Thunderchild is. I don't mind it or a couple of the other blends but some are not to my taste either.

    • Agree. We tried Airjo and even with 40% didnt like it much. its not bad, but prefer other brand (Ground control - Major tom). But then coffee taste is subjective.

  • +2

Tried Sumatra out with their 40% off deal and will need to find another roaster. Understand light roasts are difficult to extract but I really struggled dialling this in. I got a mazzer robur grinder and I couldn't grind it fine enough for my dual boiler. Never had this issue before.

    • Thats surprising. I was able to dial it in even on my BBE stock grinder. But that was almost an year ago IIRC.

    • +1

I had the same thing for the last batch I bought. Wasn’t all too flavourful either.

With their consistent fortnightly “sales” I think they’re just abusing OzBargain at this rate.

    • +1

I’ve had the same issue a few times.

I reckon the beans aren’t as fresh as other roasters. And I’ve tasted a nice difference, which confirms my hunch for me personally.

    • +1

I had no problem with my Sumatra order from the last 40% sale. With some dialing I can get golden foam, good smell, good taste. However, during hand grinding I feel the resistance is suspiciously low for such light roast bean; maybe the bean is not really fresh before roasting.

If your grinder cannot get it right even at the finest setting, maybe you can try to add a few more grams to your dose.

Worst coffee supplier, jacked up prices as usual but even gives less than 40% now! Get real Airjo! Don’t get fooled by them again…

    • Please tick the associated box next time hairy cop, you're constant praise for this company has given away the fact you're an employee!

      • I’m not praising Airjo. Don’t be such a tool!

    • Try Rubra

    Regularly 30-40% off

    • +3

Must admit I don't think I've ever paid full price there, and I probably wouldn't either. I can say their delivery is very prompt.

  • +8

People are savage today, ive tried a bunch and still use airjo as my primary with twilight my prefered blend (also a little cheaper). Maybe there are better out there, but its quick reliable delivery of good coffee at a reasonable price.

    • +2

Yeah, I'm not really understanding the hate.
I agree that the deal is a bit ordinary, but not convinced it's worth the negs?

FWIW, I like Airjo coffee. I haven't had an issue with it at all. They're in the regular rotation with other mobs around here posting decent coffee for reasonable prices

  • +3

From the first time I tried (and I did try a few blends) , you could taste the quality. After that it was just commercialised and fake marketing.

    • -5

Worst coffee! Aldi beans are much better!

      • +2

Don't agree ALDI coffee is better at all, even though I'd love for this to be true for price reasons.

ALDI coffee isn't in the same ballpark.

        • You're trying to rationalise with a mentally ill person who posts the same shit on every deal. They are fixating for whatever reason.

  • +1

I no longer buy them. Quality was real poor last few times.

  • Good coffee and quick delivery. Thnks

  • +6

The ozbargain is going to kill airjo like barty lol

I only bought it twice, I was not impressed. Moved on. No need to neg and kill someone's business.

  • +2

Doesn’t take much for this OzB community to turn does it…..

    • Very true, lots of hate today…

  • +5

The owner doesn't post anymore on Ozbargain. Why is that? He was roasted by the Ozbargain community for his spam?
