Lenovo Tablet M10 3rd Generation $199 @ ALDI

690

Lenovo Tablet M10 3rd Generation
Decent price, Even on Amazon the best price it's been has been $246 accorinding to CCC
On amazon it's currently $249, but i couldn't find the best price on CCC as when i put the URL in CCC it shows it as the 2gb 2nd gen model

I can't speak for what stock quantities will be in your respective area.

As far as performance, i can't speak for how it will perform, but i imagine it will perform as good or better than similarly priced (non aliexpress) tablets, Especially as it's priced similar than the previous generation of the same tablet by other sellers.

Please don't start comparing this to other tablets going for 3-4x the price.

Unclear if it comes with a cover, it shows a cover in the photos, but doesn't mention it in the description

      • Thanks.

  • i'm looking for a cheap tablet to pretty much exclusively run the navionics marine charting app on a boat - does anyone know if this tablet has GPS?

    • -1

….specs are all in the description

      • +1

i've read the specs on here and on the website but there's no mention of GPS - i just don't know if that means no GPS, or it's a known thing that all tablets have GPS or something. like, the specs don't say it's touch screen but of course it is, it's a tablet. i guess my question is whether the fact that GPS isn't mentioned in the specs mean that it doesn't have GPS?

  • Looks like a good value but can't seem to find any further details or accessories on Google. I can't even find a case that would fit?

    • +1

I believe it comes with a flip case.

    • having siad that, I've made a pig's ear of applying the screen protector, so if anyone does find them
      I'd appreciate a PM, please.

  • So this is the M10 gen 3, which is different to the M10 Plus gen 3 ?

No listing for it on gsmarena.com which only has the m10 plus gen 3

    • Yeah it's different since the plus is a 1200x2000 screen and this is a 1200x1920. Can't find any info even on the lenovo website. It's screen is better than 2nd Gen (again based off 2nd gen HD edition..) but I'm guessing same internals Octocore

      • I believe it's a UK model

  • is bootloader unlocked ?
(and in general would appreciate an advice about good unlocked tablets)

Gas spring monitor arm for $50 on the same day, is this a decent deal?

Edit: I see the F80 is $40 on Amazon with free delivery and more weight capacity (9kg vs. 6.5kg). Probably better to go with the F80 then. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B071HWSGPN

    • +1

Ive got 2 of the F80s and had no problems. Will buy another when I convince myself a 3rd monitor is essential.

  • +1

I have the 2nd Gen, its quite nice, wanted a reader thats bugger than a kindle but not so lacking in functionality that i couldnt browse the web.

This fits that purpose, and its damn light which is also great for reading. Decent colour, cant complain. Its probably not gonna be your "go to gaming and tablet powerhouse" but for $199, for what youre probably gonna use a tablet for (toilet reading, browsing random crap), its a fantastic product.

  • Hi team, will Netflix work on this? Wildvine?

  • does anyone know how this compares to the Lenovo Xiaoxin 2022?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/748250

specs for the Xiaoxin seem much more impressive - battery, resolution, screen size, later android version, etc. and for only $20 more than this.

Featuring Android 12, 10.6" 2000x1200 IPS 400nits display, 4/6GB RAM, 64/128GB storage (supports MicroSD), mid-range Qualcomm 680 CPU with Adreno 610 GPU, 7700mAh battery with 20W PD charging, 4 speakers with Dolby Atmos, 3.5mm audio jack, 8MP front + rear camera, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.1 and USB-C.

    thoughts?

    • honestly, just looking at the specs the one you shared looks better.

I think the only benefit my one has over yours is that its from a local supply.

      • Would be interesting to know if your one can play netflix HDR because there are known issues with the xiaoxin in only being allowed to play sdr

        • i don't have or use netflix, but is there a way to find that out through the specs?

          • +1

@whitepuma: Not sure if that's accurate and why it is like that, but the Aliexpress page linked to in that deal specifically states "Please note that the system does not support Netflix software". Which is a pity if true, as the specs of that device look quite nice for the price.

            • @jakentta: ….i didn't link to an aliexpress page in my post

  • +1

FYI: I couldn't find this model/specs on the Lenovo AU website - it seems to fit between the Gen 2 and Gen 3 models sold locally.

I eventually found these specs in UK https://www.lenovo.com/gb/en/p/tablets/android-tablets/lenov… So it's a grey market item with presumably no support after the 12 month importers warranty (which may not be worth much).

OTOH it seems reasonable spec, so I'm thinking to get one mostly to use as a Home Assistant control panel.

    • Trying to get to the bottom of the specs as it's kinda on par with a Samsung Tab A7 lite (processor) but bigger screen and extra gig of ram.
1.8GHz UNISOC T610 octa core processor
      2 x Cortex-A75 1.8 GHz + 6 x Cortex-A55 1.8 GHz

      Whereas the M10 2nd Gen HD & A7 Lite runs Octa-core (4x2.3 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x1.8 GHz Cortex-A53) + PowerVR GE8320
The A75/A55 are newer but clocked lower than the A53 which I'm not sure why? They could be more power effecient but why gimp a newer product (unless that's why these are on sale).

4GB ram is enough for basic tablet and the screen is a nice size.

  • The one you linked on Amazon is 2nd gen, and it's priced at $227. The 3rd gen Plus is priced at $327 (FWIW).

    • The 3rd gen plus isn't the same one.

The one from aldi is "3rd gen" no plus. Refer to donburch comment above

      • (FWIW)

        • +1

sorry, i didn't even know what that acronym meant until googling it now

  • Wonder if Aldi will have enough stock to meet demand?

They have in the past been criticised by the press and ACCC for bait advertising.

    https://www.adnews.com.au/news/aldi-accused-of-illegal-bait-…

    https://au.finance.yahoo.com/news/aldi-accused-baiting-angry…

“ The ACCC website states consumers have a right to a replacement in cases where an on-sale product is in short supply.”

    Model # TB328FU

Edit: Cover & screen protection are included.

  • no stock broadway (or sold out <1hr)

  • Went to store opening in Brisbane, and another near by store..no sign of these.

    • Ask the counter.

    • Did you manage to find one in the end? Also looking for stock around Brisbane.

  • 4 units was spotted in the top ryde city aldi at 10am today

  • I take it OW & JB don't sell this model to price match, do they?

UPDATE: I've just walked into a JB in the Sunny Coast; they have the same model, or so they thought, bc they had to come up with all sorts of lame excuses no to price match: that it'd have to be sold online, that they needed to check stock, dara, dara, dara.

    • UPDATE 2: Just picked up two at Aldi in Kawana (Qld).

UPDATE 3: JB in Maroochydore calls me back saying they'd be able to price match. Not sure what with, as their website only shows 2nd gen and 3rd gen plus.

UPDATE 4: JB Maroochydore doesn't have gen3 in stock. Refers me to another store that also doesn't.

    • Out of curiosity what was the price at JB Hifi?

      • it wouldn't matter, at JB they don't have the same model. So price matching isn't really an option.

        • Ah, thanks. I've seen your exhange with wisdomtooth further up now and see how they were mistaken.

          • +1

@sam buster: All good, in everyone that misunderstood it's defence (myself included), it is incredibly confusing the way lenovo has launched these different generations but having some only available in certain regions.

Having a m10 gen3, and a m10 plus gen3. With the plus being the only one that's readily available here whilst the gen3 is the one with very limited info on.

It's understandably why not only we got it wrong, but people at JB & OW got it wrong, when you ask them "do you have any lenovo tab m10 gen3's available" they just assume you mean the plus (as that's all they have), and say yes.

  • 5-10 at Aldi Kwinana (WA) this morning. In the usual special buy bins between the other tech they had on sale this weekend

  • I got one.

There were only 4 in stock at Leichhardt

  • Yep, went past a few stores today to see.
Had a family member pick one up when they went into store (rural store) for other things this morning - they have 8 in store at 9.30am apparently.

I happen to be in Eastern Subs of Melb. Saw 2 stores, each with stock 4+ behind the counter/cabinet. No issues.

Half the problem I feel for retailers and stock is OzB. Y'all (ok and on occasion I am 1), all seagull in and buy everything up! hahaha… OzB…

    • Yeah that is the double edged sword of ozbargain

  • got mine all setup as an interface for home assistant. Works very smooth, can't notice any lag, mind you what i'm using it for isn't really resource intensive.

    • that's good to know. Got one for my partner, who is currently still using a Nexus 7 2013! She only browses the net social media, and a bit of YouTube and Pinterest. Reads a cooking pdf, that kind of thing.

I myself replaced a Nexus 7 2012 with the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 2019 (3GB / 128GB) at $300-ish. I've been pretty disappointed with that device, although I have higher demands than my partner.
The reason I mention this is because the two devices (my Galaxy Tab A and this Lenovo Tab M10) seem to be pretty comparable - equivalent benchmark performance from the chipsets, screen resolutions etc. This Lenovo M10 does seem to have a slight edge on the Tab A in nearly every aspect though (bigger RAM, lighter weight, slightly faster charger,..but slightly smaller battery). So as long as the wifi connectivity doesn't have issues and the screen is reasonably bright, this would seem to be a bargain $200.

      • "lighter weight"?? I never had a 10" tablet, but this thing is a brick!

        • +1

Actually, I misread the listed weight of the Samsung - they are approx the same at 460g. My kid's Chromebook Duet is also about the same without the stand and keyboard (which makes it almost a kg).

          • @sam buster: Yeah, looking at GSMArena, they seem to be all about the same at this screen size (including the iPad "Air"!). It's only the Huawei MediaPad (M3 Lite 10) and the TCL (10 TabMid) that weigh incredibly 25% less! (~330g). Maybe they're flimsier?

  • got 2 for my kids, great for them, replaced 5 year old A5 tablets

  • Got mine today from miranda…using it now to replace my dead Samsung tablet..so far very impressed.

    • Do you do any streaming by any chance? Like netflix? If so, how's the quality?

      • Perfect. Streamio too 😉

The camera sucks, tho (unless I missed some setup). I also miss Xiaomi's miui shortcuts (screenshot, etc).

  • Got mine from Altona North (millers junction)
Had to ask them to check the back since there were non on display but seems like they had plenty.

    • Yeah Aldi is great at hiding there stock i have to ask them all the time to check out the back and sure enough product is out there .

    • Mine were in a box under the cashier's counter.

  • Would this be good for streaming/media play? Like netflix?

    • i don't see why not

    • It is. The camera sucks, tho (unless I missed some setup).

  • Cheers OP ;)

  • +1

I was very sceptical getting a $200 tablet initially but then I can always return it (Aldi) if it doesn't do the job. Man, I'm blown away with the overall quality considering the price tag. It is a very solid general purpose tablet for everyday use (web browsing, watching movies, and standard gaming). Let's see how long it can last or perform this well, might be the best $200 I have ever spent on a tablet.

    • How did you find the camera?

      • +2

I'll be honest, I'm not too fussed if a tablet even has a camera, IV never bought a tablet for its camera specs. I guess for me, a tablet in this price bracket all I care about is if the front facing camera is "good enough" for a video call, and in that case it is.

The camera is nothing to write home about, but it's certainly not a problem (when comparing to other similarly priced tablets)

      • +2

I agree with @whitepuma. For me, the camera is good enough for a video call and does the job. Obviously, you can't compare it with top end devices with fancy camera features. I use my iPhone to take pics.

  • 5 in stock Aldi Westfield Miranda today

  • I've had this for a couple of weeks now (it's my first tablet 🥰). It's comfortable, but I could easily live without (not gonna return jt, tho). One thing I sorely miss on it is fingerprint id (no, I'm not gonna do face id; that's just creepy).

  • Whoever feels you've missed this, I just saw a few under the counter in Kawana (Qld).

  • +1

    Just picked one up - it's now $149 !

    • 😳

      • Worth a return repo 🙄

    • Aldi's website still says $199; was it a store clearance?

      • Yep, confirmed; it's $149 in Qld. Probably everywhere. Cashier wasn't too sure — or happy — about it, but ultimately did the return repo for me. At a $50 "profit"!

    • +2

$150?! Already at $200 it's an really good deal! You would be cheering
