Not Seen Any "Good Refurb" Laptops Around Recently

Anyone seen any sub $250 deals for an older (good condition) refurb i5 Gen 6 or 7 or the likes recently?

Doesnt seem anyone has picked anything up in the last few weeks…

Oh, i had then lost it.
Having said that - preference not to be a Lenovo. Should have clarified. My bad.
While much of a muchness, I seem to have had more problematic Lenovo's than any of the HP's, Dells, or Asus's i've had over the years…

      • Thinkpads are quality units. I've used them before as work laptops.

        • Did they get better? IBM think pads were tanks but early Lenovo units I saw were not good. That was a long time ago.

I love the nipple though. I had that on a Toshiba once.

        • Ive had plenty, and out of HP, Asus, Lenovo and Dell, I've found the Lenovo's binned much earlier. Mind you, i do use most of my gear pretty hard.

The Fujitsu/Lenovo's seemed to be a bit better, but havent tried in ages.

Usually we see Dells, HPs and Lenovos as the refurbs when ditched by corps and gov. Hence preference for either of those. Early Dells (many many many years ago were trash - but seem to be basic and yet solid now days).

          Just my experiance.

          • @mickyb80: I used to fix them years ago. HP were easy to get parts for. Dell was impossible. Outside the warranty period they would refuse to fix them for any price and would not sell parts to 3rd parties.

IBM were good for parts but the ordering process was bizarre

@CascadeHush: Parts - EMPR or from the US.
I did the same for 10 yrs when I had my business. Was importing parts from refurb's in UK and US every week.
Was fun, but stressful and did my head in. On occasion when asked, i'll still get the tools out. Even do board level crap with the station powered up when im bored 5#17less, but must be totally bored 5#17less and thats rare! hahaha
Lucky I still have E14/Farnell account RS etc…

ha! i need to stop nerding and geeking out on this site!
Rest of the board level stuff was a POP… Ingram, Synnex etc… or EMPR… :)

      Bit exe for a refurb.
Either get something cheaper or spend more and get a new one.
Bit of a weird price bracket in my option, but depends what you need.

  • You should be able to find something at AC Trader, 20% off code on eBay.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/str/australiancomputertraders/Laptop…

For $270 you can get an 8th gen:
    Dell Latitude 5290 Intel i5 8250u 1.60Ghz 8GB RAM 128GB SSD 12.3" Win 11

Catch is "HD" screen. Cheaper models only have 4GB, which is not good, but you can upgrade.

    • Will take a look when in front of the PC again.
Just looking for a clean iso box to use. Could do the job nicely.

      • ISO do a PC standard?
