Sydney to Auckland, New Zealand from $198 One Way, $335 Return [Mar-Sep] on Air Asia / Jetstar @ Beat That Flight

90

New Zealand for under $350 return!

If you're having trouble viewing the tables or just want a full hyperlinked list of all dates and prices, see the original post here

Air Asia X is my favourite low cost carrier - mainly for the food. I highly recommend paying onboard the few dollars for a Nasi Goreng. I have even been known to request a second.

Skytrax rates them a 3-star airline and 7/10

If you're wondering, Air Asia is the short haul operation of the airline, and Air Asia X is medium-long haul. Apparently NZ is medium?

Jetstar on the other hand, we're all familiar with and love/hate them. I only include it because on a few of the dates, they're marginally cheaper one way. And depending on when you're travelling, sometimes two one way tickets can cost less than a return so it might be worth combining airlines. Up to you.

Very cheap but as this deal is Jetstar you will need to factor in additional costs such as accommodation, food and transportation to deal with delayed flights with minimal communication.

Most of the best prices are with Air Asia. I only threw JQ in there as well because on a few dates, they're marginally cheaper. If you're worried about cancellation, take Air Asia instead, perhaps ;)

  • Should i or should i not…………….

    • Personally I prefer to fly with airlines that have not crashed in the past decade…

      • You won’t have issue travelling with AirAsia next year then :)

        • Don't bet on it…. See below. Don't fly with this disgrace of an airline.

  • NZ isn't medium but because SYD-AKL is a tag leg on the end of KUL-SYD which is medium haul.

Went through take off standing in the isle on Air Asia (double booked seat..we both had the same seat on our boarding passes). Hosties couldn't give two stuffs we had no seat.

Ground crew (Melbourne) poked their head in and said "it will get sorted", and closed the doors.

Even worse there was a seat empty near an exit (but it was a "pay extra" seat, even though we had superior business class seats booked, they wouldn't let us sit in them). I ended up sitting in it anyway..as it was a red eye flight to Singapore. Once levelled, Hostie continually poked me in the neck to make me stand up!!!
I ended up laying on the floor at row 55.

Then the landing was aborted at the last second, and we had a go around (cherry on top).

I would never fly with Air Asia…says plenty about their concern for the rules and customer safety. Pathetic X 1000 airline.

  • Nothing for Mel?

  • Wanting to travel end of next month Feb - does this count as last minute, which is why the fares are pretty darn expensive, or is it cos it's also still counted as peak season?

  • Will there be any flights for sydney to melbourne deals for march?
