Car Key and Garage Remote Cloning/Programming Devices

Anyone picked up one of those RF and key trans coding tools on Aliexpress?
Keen to pick one up. Sick of loosing keys and paying $150+ for a replacement each time.
Yes, easy fix, stop loosing keys..yeah, that's not gonna happen.

So, back to the question, anyone got, used or had experiance with the reprogramming devices?

(Have the OBD devices for programing and paring on the car side, once the key itself is sorted…)

*Disclaimer - pls remember this is a forum and im not chasing details on any unlawful acts or the likes. Please let's stick to the topic of the coding devices.

Thanks all! (;

Your replacement car key is only $150?? I tried to get a replacement for mine and was quoted $1250 or something along those lines (and I can't even remember if that included programming or not!). After hearing that price, I thought the best thing to do is not lose it!

I'm curious.. how many times have you lost your car keys?

    • Aaahhh.. how do i say this.
The expensive key(s) dont leave my pocket, so dont lose those.
Its the ones for the run arounds I often loose.
They range between $150ish and $350 depending on which of those two cars.
Plus, only got supplied 1 key on one of the 2nd hand rides, so need to duplicate that one.

That's the thing some people don't realise - the real "high yield investment" is the servicing and parts.

      • It's a cost that's avoidable.. and I must admit, the key is pretty convenient.

You could get one of those things that lets you open garage door with an app/Siri. Or put an AirTag on your keys so you can find them when you lose them.

Then OP won't be able to clone other people's keys! 😋

Denial of the negative is the positive..

Many garage remotes allow you to clone them onto a new one. So providing you have one, cloning should not be an issue.

    • Have a current remote, yep. So just wanted to clone that also. The devices i was looking at seem to double up for keys and remotes also.

      • Keys would be handy.

I’ve replace my garage door openers a couple of times. Generic cheapies are about $5 on EBay.
Just need to access the main control panel for the opener, hold down the setting button and press a button the the remote.

Not necessarily. Just because I say I won't hate something doesn't mean I will like it.

I assumes OP's point there was their willingness to accept answers in the grey area inbetween - they're not specifically chasing details of lawful acts; they're just not chasing details of unlawful acts.

Stick an airtag on it, save $150 per pop :/

  • Depends on your car dude, some earlier cars can use the cheaper key coding machines, (let's say pre 2009), and 2010-2016 more expensive, and then there onwards you honestly need most expensive coders usually.
(may be better to get a slightly more expensive one to be future proof).

Cheaper ones could be as little as $100 (but require special keys, e.g. Xhorse VVDI etc). other decent ones are also sub $200 ish. Expensive ones go as much as $1500.

Another tip - You might find these cheaper at aliexpress (Since all stuff basically comes from China). But just saying you gotta be careful with Aliexpress (i.e. international shipping, foreign sellers, GST etc). Definitely pay only through paypal there, (some sellers are dodgy as f there)

    • Yep, thats what ive been looking at!
Seem to be around $300-$500 mark for the key and rf remote cloning devices.
      U ever used one?

    • Any recommendation the cheapest place to duplicate car key with transponder/programming in Sydney?

  • Considering getting a tile or airtag?

    • Really not a fan of carrying anything extra. So the car keys are always the only thing (alone) on the key ring. Too bulky in ones pocket otherwise.
In "normal people" language and world, sure, would be fine. But for me, cant deal with it.
And the tag things are 5#17. Had one in my wallet and replaced it after 3 months. Second was rubbish also, so gave up!

  • I keep my car key in the car all the time & I use the door remote to get in; I have that hung around my neck.
If I leave the key in the lock, the door remote does not work, so I just use the spare key I taped on the front grille; or anywhere I chose.

I get my keys cloned at a locksmith, don't go to the car dealers, they just rip you off

Don't care what you say, sounds dodgy af and it's irresponsible discussing it here.

Anyone with half a brain can copy a garage remote key at home by themselves, costs next to nothing to buy a remote on ebay.

I don't believe this post for a second. If you lose things that often that this is really an issue, well, that's on you.

    • Hahahah funny f@…
If you knew me, you would know there is NOT ill intent here. Bur sure. Id imagine we dont know each other.

Rather it was a genuine, "usless (un7" brain and a tech lover than enjoys doing tech stuff themselves.
The garage was a bonus and second part of the request.

Im far from anyone that would be interested in flogging anything from anyone, let alone having much of a conversation beyond this with anyone that is clearly a flog themselves, or thinks thats what or who i am!
      (;

Enjoy ur weekenrld scuder. When something is readly available on the web as is a cloning tool, and the question was simply put in a clear and open way, on a forum such as this, which you have also IDed, then why in hell would anyone plan any unlawful activity. Lmfao!
      2023 wow!

      Take it easy!

Hope your property is secure and no one thinks it's OK to steal your s#17 either.
