Why wouldn’t you just use the free shower caps you get from hotels. I always take a bunch when I stay somewhere. I have a whole cupboard of them.

Is it free to stay in hotels?

      • -4

Did you never stay in one?

        • +6

Not for the shower caps, and certainly not often enough to forgo the need for food covers.

    • No

      Ken M? Is that you?

    Cheaper to use glad wrap.

    • +7

Wastes a lot of plastic using glad wrap.

Sorry I’ve never used these, but I guess it uses a considerable amount of water washing food covers?

        • Just chuck em in the dishwasher with usual load

          • @uder: Hand wash only.

Even if it wasn't hand wash only, good luck in arranging these in a dishwasher so they don't just accumulate dirty water

        • +2

Less than it takes create plastic wrap and transport them to your shopping centre.

      • Wastes a lot of plastic using glad wrap.

Not wasted. It serves a purpose.

Clogging up waterways. I suppose we don’t have beavers in Australia.

            @try2bhelpful:

            Clogging up waterways.

I don't dispose of mine in waterways. So all good…

@jv: So you track what happens to every piece of rubbish you throw out?

"Food covers". Does that mean it's microwave safe?

    Good

  • I love Glad Press'nSeal, however, it only sells at Costco in Australia. Of course, there are a lot of resellers but very expensive…

    • this is exactly what I've been wanting, but I can't justify the prices, especially for a mere 20/60m! Think I saw it on Amazon shipped from US, but totally not worth it. Will stick to gladwrap until I someday find a good price!

    • Will check this out at Costco today to see if they still have it. Apparently it is reusable too.

I just put a plate/saucer over the top of a container. Just as good.

    • +1

Was just going to say this. I throw a plate on top of the bowl or whatever…mainly out of pure laziness because it's quicker than taking out the roll of glad wrap (although you have to clean the plate later but generally it's just a rinse). It also means you can stack other things on top of it too.

      • Exactly how we stack things in the fridge.

If I’m going on a picnic I use this to cover bowls. It works as a good insect deterrent as well. The lids are easily taken off and put back in place.

      • Yeah I get it for picnics and transporting. But if it's just going in the fridge then it's getting a plate lol

        • Sounds like a reasonable option.
