Clean Air as a nominal product name?

Not much in the way of air cleaning features in the description - goes straight to dehumidifier text

    • My order has been cancelled. Tried to talk to online servo who are useless arrogant and unfriendly. So I gave up. No more shopping with myer. Wasting time n efforts. No more games of paying n refunding.

Cheap enough to take a punt for this unit. Been looking at kmart one that cost $95.

This might do a cupboard or a small caravan. It'll be useless in a house room.

    • +2

Slightly better than useless id say. I have a kogan one that is probably not much better and whilst it helps, dehumidifiers are one of those things you really should go overkill on.

      • +1

Why not just have an air conditioner? Works way better than a dehumidifier and won't increase the tem of the room

        • A good humidifier $400-$600 can be fantastic and extract loads of moisture like the ones by Ausclimate. They work very well. Infinitely better than these poxy little things. A reverse cycle A/C also removes some moisture from the air and they have dry modes these days that do work OK (i use it for bedroom) but not everyone has $10-15K for ducted aircon or even a few grand for multiple split systems. We get bad moisture problems that cause all sorts of grief year round, and house retains heat/cold badly, so we will be putting in 2 more split systems to help deal with everything.

          • @Xizor: What sort of house are you in a d what do you think is the source of the moisture. I used to live in a full brick unit and while it was always usually quite cool with no need for a/c, there was always some spots that would end up mouldy, so I basically had to get used to keeping windows open all year round.

You cna get small ACs, from window rattlers to small splits, limited choice isn't the problem IMO.

            • @Jackson: Our house is besser block+brick (and rendered besser block internal walls). It retains and radiates heat like an absolute mofo. We are at the bottom of a broader terrain slant and have a creek/reserve immediately behind/below us and then sharp incline so rarely get any breeze coming into house. So airflow is poor, even with doors and windows open. Concrete tile roof. Roof insulation is 30yr old so probably half useless. I've always lived in brick/double brick homes so very familiar but this joint circumstances really take the cake. I'll be putting a 5-6kw split system in the living room and a 2kw in the small home office soon, they will make a huge difference. I had hoped to not have to as ill need to run copper and have the external unit on the opposite side of the house… but after 3yrs diddling about trying half arsed options enough is enough.

      • I have the Kogan smart one and I never find any liquid in the tray. I guess my room isn't humid enough.

    • How about my shoebox?

Good reviews. Worth a go for this price and good use of Myer One rewards voucher.

  • Ordered. Thanks OP

Cheers. For $30 I'll give it a crack.

  • Drinking water by-product, nice.

  • +2

It doesn't even detail the most important specification of a dehumidifier which is how much water it will take from the air per hour.

The capacity must be so low that this information is left out. Likely a landfill item.

  • Through this website, I found that it removes 1.5L per day

    https://bestsell.com.au/products/pursonic-clean-air-max-dehu…

    • I read a testimonial from a seller on ebay that told me I can make water from wine.
Perhaps it was the other way round….
I tend not to believe everything I read about products from sellers…. and certainly don't take that link's:

      Working Capacity: 1500ml/D
      Coverage Area: 20m2 (approx.)

As any sort of guarantee that it will remove any amount per day.

  • The description of it on the Harvey Norman site says it’s suitable for a room 20m2 max

  • Thanks op, decided it’s worth a punt, grabbed 2 for 2 small rooms at the back of the house

  • has good reviews. thanks

This looks like typical generic rebranded cheapos unit similar from aliexp/ebay, but slapped on with Aussie premium RRP.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/393748

I had a very similar looking ones (probably exactly the same unit) , back in 2012.

Good for cupboards / shoe / robe, not sure about 20m2 room.

    • Exactly…. these things are low effectiveness, low efficiency, and high energy users. Peltier technology for dehumidifiers is the worst of all dehumidifier options.

  • Anyone know how noisy these are? I have a big delonghi on that I believe uses a compressor, I am guessing peltier is a lot quiter. Albeit my delonghi takes out 10L in 24hrs.

Also does it come with a hose if you want it permanently set up?

Peltier effect dehumidifiers are verrrrry inefficient in removing water, and very efficient at burning electricity.
Compressor and dessicant technology are both light years ahead in effectiveness…. each shine best in different circumstances.
I reckon the last thing on your mind after buying one of these would be….what a pain in the arse to drain it.
You'd probably be delighted there was some moisture to drain.

  • +2

As someone else posted and got downvoted for….. peltier effect dehumidifiers are NOT the duck's guts.

For $20 or $30 you probably won't be distraught about expensive landfill… for the "RRP" price of $100 you would be.

Simple…. google "peltier effect dehumidifier"…. and filter out the bullshit coming from any .com that is selling these.

If you have a big problem, and want to get rid of high humidity quickly in warm environments get a compressor dehumidifier, and spend the bucks… quite a few bucks

If you have a lesser problem, or it is a cooler environment, get a dessicant dehumidier. (or it it's a big problem and a cooler environment, get several of them). spend around $200 to $400 each.

If you have a moisture problem in an area bigger than your wardrobe or shoebox…. don't buy landfill.

    • Agree with everything you said. No way is a small peltier based doing anything unless you're humidity is 90% and water is beading on anything remotely cool.

If you're handy, you can take a portable AC and use it to dehumidify a room. These can be obtained fairly cheaply second hand, especially when they are missing the hose bits. You just need to jack them up, put a bucket underneath and open the drain. I run one during winter to remove moisture from the room while I dry my clothes, with the heat from the exhaust being a bonus. The trouble with these dehumidifier options is that you kind of want something that runs unseen and unthought of, and the cheaper options won't give you that without some hard work.
