Just got an email from Dans. Not targeted, you can use a new account.

25% off the first box, free delivery. Lots of box selections. Worth a try.

$75.25 for 6x smooth reds. Will report what I receive soon. With these services I usually expect when it first launches, for them to use quality selections before dropping down to "hey we got this cheap shit nobody else has so they can't price-compare, we'll send that" stock.

This is what I got for the 6x Red Smooth box:

(Dans single-item price on right right - I price-checked and the wines are a mix of. Price is fine, but the matching is not. These are pretty much all "bold" wines.)

  • 1 x XO Wine Co Adelaide Hills Tempranillo (Bottle) $31.99
  • 1 x Willow Bridge Estate Dragonfly Shiraz (Bottle) $17.99
  • 1 x Zonte's Footstep Violet Beauregard Malbec (Bottle) $30.00
  • 1 x Merite 343 Wrattonbully Merlot (Bottle) $24.00
  • 1 x Brothers At War The Old Man' Eden Valley Syrah (Bottle) $28.00
  • 1 x Distant South Tasmania Pinot Noir (Bottle) $20.99

  • Free wine journal I'm in boss

  • OP the optimist. DAN s wine rating starts at 96 points, which is equivalent to Jame's Halliday's 12 points (for cleaning only).

    • OK, added the wines I was assigned as part of the "Smooth Reds". 1 is good. The rest are fine. At least 2 are definitely not "Smooth Reds" though, and looking at their profiles I'd say 2 others aren't either.

      1/6 ain't bad.

I'm gonna return the shit ones.

      • gonna return

        Half empty or unopened?

  • Wine subscriptions are never worth it and are just a dumping ground for wines they can't otherwise sell.

If you're serious about wine, invest the time to learn what you like, do lots of tastings and read reviews. Otherwise you are paying a lazy tax

  • I wouldn't mind 1/2 dozen of the Brothers At War The Old Man Syrah at that price!
