  • Such easy points, I got these 1000 and also the other offers, plus US$10 of Tesla stock for using referral.

Earn 1,000 Qantas Points per trade on your first 10 Australian trades (excl. $0 brokerage trades)

Earn 5,000 Qantas Points on your first U.S. trade

    • $5 per trade or $0 for ETFs .. but transferring ETFs out of Superhero to another broker incurs a $5 fee.. yuck

      • +1

        I paid $50 fees for 5 buys and 5 sells = 10,000 Qantas Points.

Paid a couple bucks FX fee to do a US buy/sell = 5000

        1000 points for linking account.

Free referral Tesla shares worth $A36.

All up 16,000 QFF for $15 = Yum

And the tax loss is deductable against other capital gains, so even less overall cost

        • +3

How did you calculate $15 given you spent $50 alone on trading fees?

          • +1

@drfuzzy: Free referral Tesla shares worth $A36.

The free shares are US$10 when using referal code.
They have since gone up to US$25, thanks Elon

    • Does selling the Tesla shares count as your first US trade?

      • Not sure, I still have mine, doubt it though, would be a nice double dip…

        • +1

T&Cs just say first US trade. It's a US trade.

I processed mine a few days ago. I'll report back if the points come in.

          • +1

@puffinfresh: Sweet as, good luck you glutinous little doughboy!

Edit: hope you're a Simpsons fan or the above is just super weird lol

            • @cook99: I just got a notification saying I'm getting 1000 points for an Aus trade (I've made 2 trades and only gone one notification, and it says I have 7 left which is strange). Has anyone got a notification for the 5000 points US trade?

              • @puffinfresh: 1000 points from my first Aus trade yesterday already came through to Qantas. I sold the free US Tesla shares a week ago and haven't got 5k, so I don't like my chances.

                • @puffinfresh: Got it! The 5k came through, but not for the initial sale of the free Tesla shares. I bought them again, and sold them again.

So no currency conversion needed. Sell/buy/sell the free US$10 Tesla shares and get 5k points :)

No HIN, so that's a no from me dawg

    • +5

Just milk it for the free points. Money in and money out dawg

    • +3

you can transfer to CmC or somewhere else for $5
DCA'ing to ETF is free (unlike pearler)

Then do a transfer every 6 months or whenever.
I struggled with optimising fees for such low amounts of investing frequently, this has worked well for me.

      • How do you do the transfer to CMC? TIA

    • For US shares I believe all Aussie brokers operate on a Custodian model.

    • +3

For anyone wanting to understand the difference between HIN and an omnibus arrangement. TIL.

"A HIN is a unique number that is issued by the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) when you become a client of a broker. All shares that you buy through that broker will be connected to your HIN.

You can find your HIN on a CHESS statement. A HIN starts with the letter X and is followed by ten numbers, e.g. X0001234567.

To offer lower brokerage rates, some entities may use an omnibus (rather than an individual) HIN to hold shares. This means investors are not the legal owner of their shares and they have fewer protections (including being able to claim against the National Guarantee Fund) if something goes wrong.

If you hold shares through an omnibus arrangement, be sure to look at the terms of the arrangement to understand how your shares are recorded and how corporate actions like voting rights are handled."

  • +10

Asks for a Credit Card, License or Passport for verification, yeah nah, im out

    • -4

You dont need any of those things to create the account and connect your QFF

      • +3

Not sure how you bypassed it but verification is definitely required before linking.

        • Were you able to get through without it?

          • +3

@jace88: I just did it and wasn't asked for anything beyond name, address, phone number, email address. You would think some more info would be necessary. I wasn't even asked my Tax File Number, which is kind of key for claiming franking credits, witholding tax etc. Perhaps these things pop up as you try to fund your account, trade or move assets out.

            • @Thor Bargain God: Same, but couldnt get. Past the email verification link'

              • +1

@FredAstair: I eventually got asked for more personal details the second day I logged in to transact on PC, which was really strange because it was letting me trade and do a lot of stuff without this info. Usually financial institutions make sure they know their customer first to comply with AML/ CTF laws.

        • I wasn’t asked either.

        • I wasn't asked….

      • I wasnt asked. I used PC not the App.

    • I just tried to sign up online and got asked for this as a required step in the process. Maybe it’s because I was using my iPhone browser rather than desktop browser?

  • -1

Yep too greedy for personal info

  • Did it a week ago still no points, everyone else seems to have gotten them in 3 days

  • +19

16,000 pts for $50 (less USD $10 TSLA stock value).

Step 1: Using referral link make account
    Step 2: Link QFF Number
    Step 3: Deposit $160
Step 4: Make 5x buy and 5x sell of the minimum $100 trade. Buy > Sell > Buy > Sell
Step 5: Convert $100 AUD to USD
    Step 6: Buy US stock
Step 7: Sell US stock and convert USD back to AUD and withdraw the balance.

    • Thanks. Pretty easy to do.
Just waiting on the US pending trade and then we can go from there :)

    • +2

      This is the way

    • -1

I feel like they wouldn't honour that

      • +2

They absolutely do honour it and even chose to extend the promotion well past its original expiry date.

    • Don't we have to do 10 AU trades for 10k QFF points? instead of 5?

Earn 1,000 Qantas Points per trade on your first 10 Australian trades (excl. $0 brokerage trades)

EDIT: ah silly me, 1 buy + 1 sell = 2 trades of course.

      • buy, sell, buy, sell, buy, sell, buy, sell, buy , sell
        Total 10 trades

    • +3

last time i got 5000 points offered, then looking to buy US share and end up loss 90%…lol…

    • Where's it mention minimum $100 trade value for Aus shares?

      • +1

It's a restriction of the platform, not part of the terms and conditions. Minimum ASX trade is $95

    • Thanks for the info. Will definitely be following these simple steps.

    • I think it's even better, it's only a $10 USD minimum trade.

"Invest in U.S. shares and ETFs with $0 brokerage on trades and US$10 minimum investment."

"Invest in Aussie shares for just $5 a trade. $0 brokerage when you buy ETFs and A$100 minimum investment." - I assume it's not a minimum trade of $100 required to sell.

      • AUD to USD transfer minimum is $100

    • Ive tried to buy various stocks and they all get stuck on pending, am I doing something wrong?

      • +2

You have to wait until the market opens

  • +1

If you trade, don’t you have to include all of that on your tax return? I get a sweetheart deal on tax prep from a big 5 firm due to my ex but think if I include a whole bunch of nonsense that might go away

    • +3

Since you will be making an overall loss (considering the brokerage), you will not have to pay any additional tax but will have to declare it as a loss in the capital gain section of the tax return form. The loss carries over to your next year's tax return.

If you already have profits from shares, you can offset them with this loss to save taxes and in that case, it makes it an even better deal.

      • +1

not if he gets billed additional for now having to declare share income/loss. it's a whole other section to fill out, i'm sure these big 5 accounting firms are on to it.
a -50aud brokerage to reduce your capital gains isn't going to make up for way more in professional accounting fees (which you can also tax deduct but probably not worth it either) i'd imagine.
i'm more curious about this 5th firm..? which is it?

    • What’s the fifth firm?

Depends on what the reason for the sweetheart deal is (eg are they trying to “equalise” someone’s tax position ie claim the benefit for themselves) and whether you’re getting the basic services (or even the automated ones!) of the firm, or the much more bespoke bill by the 6 minute version. I used to have the former where I still did 99% of the leg work of filling in various online questionnaires (or using the app) and they just helped transpose it into the form and ask me a few questions/clarify deductions/etc (but it’s nice to have the extended filing date).

  • +1

Asked for verification for ALL 3 IDs seems no way to continue if you do not verify these

    • +1

This was my experience too (passport, licence and Medicare), I sucked it up and tried to go through the online verification but it failed. At which point it asked me to email scans of these things over - no thanks.

  • +1

Where do you link to get Qantas points?

    • +1

      In the profile section

      • Thanks. I didn’t see it because I hadn’t activated their email.

    • +7

Was able to withdraw direct to bank account and got money within 2 days, no statements required

    • +2

I register and use superhero back in Oct 2022
from memory, it only took me few minutes from creating account to depositing using PayID

I basically earned 10000 QF from account creation till all the 10 transactions done within 10mins

  • +1

    Thanks!

    Please use referral links

  • how safe is it to put my money/shares with superhero?

    • +1

You don't need to keep it for long. it takes around 15 mins to do 10 trades and then you can withdraw the money

      • +1

but my shares still sit there and superhero is the care taker?

        • +1

If you sell your shares and take out the money, you have nothing left in SuperHero

    • +1

If you can’t trust a superhero with your billions… who can you trust?

(In all seriousness shares are held in your name but the cash would often be held in a trust account… but you need to check these details yourself beforehand)

      • thanks for helpful answer…unlike others…this helped…

"When that company goes belly up, you become a secured creditor and you actually have to chase your investments," explains Chris Brycki.

"So you're not only wearing the risk of the share market, you're risking your money with a counter-party that you're not sure how credit worthy they are."

  • Can confirm does not work unless you put in all your details (license, medicare, passport). Tried via multiple devices, with password reset, partial incorrect info. Doesnt seem to be a way around it.

    • Same here. I think if you started on a mobile phone then it requires you to provide this. I even tried putting just one of the three things in, but then surprise, you need to provide another. At this point I decided it wasn't worth it for 1,000 points and I asked them to delete my account and my data.

  • I received the linking bonus points the night after I linked my account, but I've done my first 10 trades and am still waiting for the rest of the points to show up (after 2 weeks)…

  • -3

Nah, to dangerous these days to give all the personal information this organisation demands.

DOB, street address, phone, MV licence number, Medicare card number, passport number, etc.

USING A TWO PAGE SIGN UP protocol, where initial personal detail is requested and shared with them before they REQUEST greater personal information (drivers lic., Medicare number, passport no. etc.). is, in my mind, suspicious in the extreme AND shows an arrogance or ignorance when it comes to acceptable business practice in the 21st century.

IF, they had a 'user experience' analyst involved in the construction of their sign-on form, they would know that, in today's environment of almost daily hacking of lazy organisations, is a warning to potential customers that a cavalier attitude to protection of their personal details is resident here.

THERE IS NOTHING IN THEIR TERMS AND CONDITIONS THAT INDICATES HOW THEY WILL PROTECT THIS DETAIL FROM BEING HACKED ON THEIR SYSTEM. NO STATEMENT ON HOW LONG IT is required/HELD. NO STATEMENT OF THE PAYMENT OF DAMAGES IF THEIR SYSTEM IS HACKED AND PERSONAL DATA STOLEN, to the detriment of the owner.

IT IS ALSO A BAD REFLECTION OF QANTAS, WHO, AS THEY HAVE CONFIRMED BY THEIR BEHAVIOUR DURING COVID, PUT MONEY BEFORE CUSTOMERS… SELLING THE USE OF THE QANTAS BRAND to A COMPANY WHO CLEARLY HAVE A CAVALIER ATTITUDE TO CUSTOMERS' PRIVATE INFORMATION IS NO LONGER ACCEPTABLE. 1960's COMPUTER PROTECTION PROTOCOLS HAVE NO PLACE on the internet TODAY.

PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK IS THEIR ONLY MESSAGE.

  • Thanks,

I bought and sold 4 X ANZ shares as they were $25 each, did that 5 times

Bought and sold 1 x US shares last night

    All done

  • anyone know how long before the tesla shares drop in after using the referral link?

    • Id like to know too. Haven't got either my QFF points or Telsa credit

  • Is it possible to link multiple accounts to the same Qantas FF number?

  • +1

Just did my 10x trades and I can see a confirmation of 1000 QFF points against each trade by looking at the activity tab in the Android app. Now waiting for my TSLA stock purchase once the US market opens

    • Superhero customer support told me the TSLA stock gets deposited 5 business days after you fund your account with minimum $100.

  • Superhero is a financial company, they are obligated to do KYC. You can't run away from this.

  • +2

Got my 16k qff points today. Signed up the day this deal was posted.

    • How 16k?

      • $50 fees for 5 buys and 5 sells = 10,000 Qantas Points.

couple bucks FX fee to do a US buy/sell = 5000 QFF

1000 QFF points for linking account.

Free referral Tesla shares worth $US10.

        All up 16,000 QFF

  • Thanks I got 16,000 QFF a few days after completing this!

  • Got my 16,000 points by following Ovapoweredqcumba's advice. Total cost of AU$54.31.
