  • So the trade in option is offering me $800 for my 512GB Z Fold 3, which isn't a lot less than street value. It's in great shape except for a couple small dings and I've recently removed the godforsaken inner screen protector as it was peeling. Anybody have any experience with these guys? Worth the effort over trying to flog it on Scumtree?

    • The inner screen protector should not be removed.

      • Meh. That's what they say, but it doesn't affect warranty. This was a major issue on the previous iterations, but not this one. Plan was to replace it anyway.

  • So I take it we have to pay for the phone upfront rather than pay it off over the 12 months?

  • Can good guys match jbhifi on their bonus $200 gc for trade in?

    • The extra trade-in bonus is $300 with Jbhifi or $200 your saying for Harvey?, im still trying to figure out this Harvey deal as so far Jbhifi's is better deal for me as ill be trading in 2x mobile phones and the trade-in values are great with there $300 bonus on top, ends tomorrow 15th Feb

  • +1

Is the port in / loyalty monthly discount available ontop of this deal? Has anyone managed to get this?

    • I just signed up today and have asked 6 different staff via the telatra app but all said they cannot see any "port in" credit offers on my account. Ive also had one tell me to go back to the good guys and ask them to apply the credit.

    • +1

Yes I was able to get a $20 port-in credit after asking almost 10 different team members!

      • Does the $20 port in credit apply to the monthly rate? I.e you pay $49 per month for the plan? And was it done through Telstra chat? Cheers

        • +1

Yep I was told via Telstra chat that the port in credit will apply for 12 months, and will be $49 per month :)

      • The comment from duminduweera shared how to get the port in credit but his template mentioned he bought it from JBHifi. Did you avail from thegoodguys? Also, did you used the same request everytime for those 10 different telstra chat staff? The telstra chat rep usually ask for where did you get that info or can you share a link or details with that promotion.

    • +1

Can confirm, had $20 port in credit applied per month for 12 months. Did it over chat in the app, first attempt.

      • Did your sales rep from goodguys told you about the port in credit? how did you request the port in, normally telstra chat will ask for link or proof of port in promotion.

    • Only got 10 dollar port in credit

      • How is everyone getting port in credits? No one seems to have heard of it

  • Is it Instore only? Can we combine another offer of $800 GC on 24 months plan with this?

    • +3

instore only from what i can see.
if you sign up to the 24month plan you can get the $850GC instead of the $750 GC that comes with the 12month plan.
Not sure why you would lock yourself into 24months through for the extra $100

      • So if i choose 12 months, do i have to pay $1121 upfront ( 1949 -828) or I can use $750 GC towards the payment?

        • +1

My understanding is they take the $750 off the price of the phone.
So $1949-$750 is what you pay upfront, then the phone plan is monthly installments.
The $250 gift card and the $90 storecash will come after

        • The $750 is not a GC. It's straight discount on the phone.

          • @DontNeedThis: It means we are paying close to the original price of $1199 + 828 = $2027 but getting $340 as GC/Store Cash ( 90+ 250) which becomes $1768 the cost for the phone, and on 12 months plan it $147.33 Per month.

Or $168.92 Per month with $340 cash to spend in TGG store.

            is that calculation right ?

            • @Looking4Bargians: Not sure if you can spend the GC and Store cash towards the phone payment. Also not sure if the device itself will be on a plan.

      • Agreed, baffling one that.

  • Do we have to pay upfront for the phone?

  • i need this deal to work for me but sadly i'm on Belong prepaid and judging from the historical posts i've google search it won't work, and Telstra would let you through only to back-charge all the discounts in a few months time. (Read from a post in 2020 Comment here

and also this Term written in the PDF : 3. Customers who port out and in are not eligible to obtain these bonuses. Service must be off
the Telstra network for 30 days to be eligible.

would suggest those that are trying to use the $2 Optus route , i was planning to do that but after reading that term above and also finding what telstra can do to you i'll avoid this deal.

Buy from Good Guys or JB hifi?

      Yes.

  • im outdated, i thought S24 is supposed to be out in march, but im reading S23 only just came out?

    • +2

Why would 2024 come out in 2023?

      • i didn't realise it was linked to the year. and i thought s23 came out last year some time. and when i googled s24, lot of sites said this year (but looking into it deeper, sites look unreliable)

        • Them sites just in it for the clicks.

      • Just like 2022 came after 2020.

    • You're not outdated. If anything, you're too indated.

  • +2

    Can I confirm my maths/understanding?

    Plan: $69 x 12 = $828
~ You will be eligible for $750 off the phone

    Phone:
    S23 256gb = $1349 - $750 = $499
    S23+ 512gb = $1649 - $750 = $749
    S23 Ultra 512gb = $1949 - $750 = $949
    S23 Ultra 1tb = $2249 - $750 = $1249
    * Prices already include the double storage offer

If you're already paying for a mobile plan of $69/month - nothing will change.
Your out of pocket price will be the cost of the phone minus $750.

    You will also receive:
+$100/$150/$250 gift card (unsure whether this can be used towards the cost of the phone)
+$90 store cash (unsure whether this can be used towards the cost of the phone)

    • Trying to confirm with Telstra chat you can merge a new service into an existing number, if yes I think this is the best deal around.

EDIT: Confirmed with the Australian call center this is no problem.

    • +1

Looks like your maths are spot on.
Don't think can use the $250 or the $90 towards the phone itself as the gift cards will be issued after ordering. You may get lucky instore, the $250 might be the only one possible but I doubt it.

    • +5

      Your maths seem off

      1349-750=599
      1649-750=899
      1949-750=1199
      2249-750=1499

In addition to the gift card and store cash

      • +1

My math is way off! Thank you!

      • He just double counted the gift card.

        S23 Ultra 512gb = $1949 - $250 - $750 = $949

        • and if i trade in my s21ultra that worth $500, does that mean i only need to pay $449 for a 512gb S23 Ultra?

  • +1

They think the economy is going well still

  • +1

Would it be possible to get a discount on the monthly plan through their chat if you are switching over to Telstra?

I remember reading in old phone posts that you can sometimes get $20 a month off the plan, bringing a $69 plan to $49.

    • +1

It's absolutely worth trying, you just won't know until after.

    • let us know how your play out? :)

  • -3

    Just got spammed by Hell$stra!

Buy me first and you have access to a faulty and compromised network.

    Be a sheep and follow Murdoch's advice….

  • Can someone please confirm if the price of the phone needs to be paid upfront?

    • +1

Yes, you are buying the phone outright at a discount.

You might be able to AfterPay it, but you can get it down to as little as $499 upfront by the looks of it.

  • Can someone clarify the figures?

I'm looking at the page and it clearly says

Bonus $300 EGift card for the Good Guys Plan, right?
It then mentions $250 and $90 Store Cash for Pre-ordering an S23

    PLUS a Bonus 750 / 850 or 1150 off.

    So if I opt for
    S23+ 256GB

    $1649
    -750 (actual instant discount?)
    -250 (card)
    -300 (card)
    -90 (card)

Total cost, including a years use, $938

Out of pocket up front $899
Plus $828 for the plan over 12 months

Minus $640 dollars of gift cards?

This absoloutely can't be right (and I think someone else mentioned it) - surely some of those gift cards don't actually get paid out?

    • You dont get 300 card. That when they have no bonus promo. Look at the post. You get 90 store credit though so not bad

      • Does it at least mean I get a 512 for ordering the 256? Kinda confusing

        • Yes double storage is the promo bonus.

  • Can you port in from Boost? Or does Boost belong to Telstra and not count as a port in?

  • I only see the 512GB ultra, and it says when added to cart it automatically upgrades the storage, but if I add the 512gb ultra to cart, it still says 512gb and the price is 2250.
Is that normal, all other sites show 1tb in cart.

  • +1

can someone just do a chart with all the options?

Too much confusion on what is applicable and the final price will be.

If my math is correct it would be:

    Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus 256GB (free upgrade to 512) - 1649

    -750
    -150 GC
    - 90 Storecash

    = 659

Than 828 over 12 months for the plan?

  • +1

Just had good guys in Joondalup tell me you don't get the $250 GC because the terms say not valid with any other offer. Wtf

    • Can anyone else confirm?

      • I called another store, he checked with his manager and said it was fine to use both, might have been the first guy was just an idiot.

The first store I actually went in there and he checked with his manager but I don't think either of them had a clue , were just reading the T&C wrong I think. But I walked out , not pre-ordering until I can confirm.

The $250 GC and $90 credit are literally two offers at the same time advertised next to each other so how can stacking not be allowed .

  • Some one have said international roaming does not work, it says it does in the T&C….. i know its a rip off and i would only need in an emergency, can someone confirm your telstra TGG sim will work overseas if needed ??

    • My Telstra JB SIM card works overseas which I assume is a similar deal given they're owned by the same company.

  • +13

Signed up to the deal today in-store. They were very confused with all the different promos going on (and it meant I signed up with one idea, had to cancel the whole thing and re-sign up, so took a while). In terms of stacking this is what I officially ended up with:

512gb S23 Ultra (Order was made for 256gb at full price, so assumption is they send me the double memory version)
$69 12 month plan with Telstra
$250 GG Gift Card (claimed it online when I got home and received the emailed card within a couple hours)
$90 store cash (pending, haven't gotten it yet but head office confirmed this would be received, but also I honestly have no idea how this one works)

I paid 20% deposit on the end cost of the phone (less the $750), so will pay the remainder when it arrives in 2 weeks. I can apparently use the $250 GG Gift card and the $90 store cash to pay towards this. Apparently.

The $300 GG Gift Card currently running as a promotion for the $69 Telstra port-in/new customer plan is NOT stackable. This is what cased all the confusion and initial cancellation (they signed me up for this originally then realised the $750 discount promo is a separate product in the system, so its one or the other).

Hope that helps sort any of the confusion!

    • Joondalup WA GG claimed the $250 GC wasnt stackable, knew it was bullsh!t, they had no idea and were just reading the generic T&C on the spot. I will go to a different GG and have no doubt they will process it no worries.

I am very surprised they let you get the gift card without paying for the phone in full as you could now use the store credit and GC to pay down the phone which is definitely not their intention. I will be trying this tomorrow though , thanks for the tip!

      • +1

No worries! The $250 gift card claim has nothing to do with the store turns out. I had to go through the promo on the GG website, enter the receipt number and that let me claim it, then got it emailed a couple hours later. So even if they say its not stackable, they can't not let you claim it if that makes sense?

Yeah the deposit was because its a pre-order. Maybe I got lucky (the store was actually quite nice once they realised their mistake) but they did say before I even asked that it would only require a 20% deposit and the remained on collection.

        Good luck!

    • +1

How much was the cost for the phone ( 20% + remaining) excluding $69 deal ? did they deduct $750 from $1949 ?

      • Yep from the full price. $1949 - $750 = $1199 total cost of the phone.

    • Hi Mate,

Which state and store you got your deal at? I've been around a few stores in melbourne and a few stores have said no I don't get the $250 until the phone is fully paid for on pickup. And some saying it maybe possible but there not sure.

      • Hey mate, like I said, the store itself doesn't seem to have anything to do with the $250 - its an online deal, so you go through the bonus claim link on the website (and you need a GG account for that). You do need the receipt though. That being said, I can only go off my experience and that's what I did/happened to me.

I got mine from the Good Guys in Darwin, NT. Great service and even though they made a mistake initially, they fixed it without kicking up a fuss (despite having issues with HO).

        • Hey mate, which number you used to claimed online? Is that the order number? My order number not working. Just guess is a different number. Cheers!

  • -3

can someone point out the specs comparison for the standard vs plus vs ultra? what are the differences between them? thx

    • +4

I didn't neg you but you should try google rather than here.

  • what deals better GG or HN? you just pay for the phone and terminate plan and go with whoever you want?

  • I was wondering if anyone has signed up in the Sydney West area and what store?

  • Is there a way to get around the 12m contract. Can we cancel it similar to the Optus one offered by HN.

  • +2

Do peoples invoices say 256GB model or 512GB model? Mine is showing the lower model, was told I will still get 512GB.

    • My invoice says 256gb (UG 512gb).

  • Hi Guys,

Anyone in melbourne been able to get the deal? and was given the option to pay off the remaining balance with the $250 gift? I been to a few stores in melbourne, a few said it maybe possible but not certain. and others have flat out said no you won't get the gift card until after the phone is fully paid on pickup date?

  • +2

Unfortunately the T&C confirm that the $90 store cash and the $250 e gift card can not be used to pay for the phone.

Store cash: cannot be used for payment towards any Product that you have ordered prior to earning the StoreCash, including any Products that were purchased to earn the StoreCash. Product must be received on or before 1/03/2023. StoreCash will be automatically paid on 9/03/2023.

Gift card: Pre-ordered product must be received before claim can be made. Pay the full ticket price for the product at point of purchase.

Unless you are lucky enough to pay a deposit only, get the receipt and claim online to pay towards the phone, then you're left with $340 to spend at TGG.

  • Hi - does the tgg tax invoice show full phone price but use TGG giftcard $750 to offset the cost and just pay the difference?

Asking because can claim gst back.

    Thanks

  • +1

how long the expiry is on the giftcard? I know the store credit is stupidly short.

  • Does live chat still give the 10 or 20 off each month?

    • Tried to get 20 but only got 10

  • I have Boost prepaid and would like to port in.
    What are my options?

    • +1

Simply buy a $2 Optus or Amaysim SIM Card and port out, and next day head out to TGG store and sign up.

      • So no need to wait for 30 days before re-porting into Telstra?

        • +2

I have ported out in past for a day and then successfully subscribed to such deals by porting in again. So its doable, just don’t tell the store reps. Hope it will work for u as well. Alternatively, just get this deal on a new number, and then jump on the chat to move the package to your existing number.

  • Do good guys have a trade in bonus can’t seem to find it

  • Think harvey norman deal still better? $1128 s23+ 512gb / s23 ultra $1428? or add $69 ontop prorated.

    • signing up optus is the deal breaker

  • +2

Signed the deal with TGG Hectorville SA, the guy was very helpful but won't take my deposit for the phone nor giving me the receipt, so I can only get/claim the $250 GC and spend towards something else once I get the phone in 2 weeks of time

    • I got the receipt but not working now. They may fixed that bug.

  • +9

    Tips:
    — Message at night, night team is far more flexible.
    — If messaging during business hours, type "Billing" and start messaging so you talk to the billing department.

NOTE: Tried 3 times chatting to general help staff during business hours without any luck. Messaged at night (10PM) and got the discount with no questions asked.

    Use this template:

    Hi

I'm a new customer, just came in from XXXX.

JBHiFi rep said I can get $20/month port-in-credit if I ask the team via Telstra chat, can you help me to add this to my account.

Here are my details so you can verify my account.

    DOB: dd/mm/yyyy
