Hey mate, I'll try this out, btw, with your recent try did you buy from TGG or JBHiFi?
      Thanks.

    • Only got offered 10, Ah well better than nothing!

      • Did u preorder from jbhifi or tgg?

      • I tried a few different Reps using similar wording, but none was helpful. Keep saying to fill out the form and ask the JB rep to call you back and discuss it with them.

        • took me 2 goes after 11pm, was told all of these promos have finished but as a gesture of goodwill they will do it.
It was a very slow process.

  • Does anyone know when will the handsets be available for pick up if you sign up this deal? Considering that Samsung is already shipping the orders placed via their online stores.

    • Feb 17?

    • I was able to pick mine up 4 days after ordering in-store :)

  • Anyone know when is the date of the invoice? I can claim TRS if the invoice is on 22/02 or later dater, just wondering if I pickup the phone a couple of days later would the invoice be on the date I pick up? Thx

    • Invoice date is the one when you signed up or preorder the phone.

  • Can anyone confirm whether the invoice shows the phone's value as full price (e.g. 1949) with $750 credit applied

    or

$1199 unit price and it doesnt show a $750 credit.

    • +2

      Full amount

      • I doubt. Because I signed up a similar deal in past at TG and invoice showed the discounted price. Also signed the S23+ deal at HN yesterday, and invoice again showed the discounted price of phone as $300 that I paid.

        • +1

At TGG, my invoice is showing me the full amount ($1649) after completing payment of $899 ($1649 - $750).

          • @humptydumpty: Hmmmm my HN invoice only shows $300 I paid under the Optus $69 24 months deal.

          • @humptydumpty: What is the date of your invoice? Is it when you sign up to the plan or when you pay and pick up the phone? Asking for TRS purposes

            • @yummypinacolada: The date on the tax invoice is the day I went in to port in. They sent me an SMS with a link to pay. That same link allows me now (after paying) to get the tax invoice. I haven't received the phone yet! HTH.

  • +1

You can pay with TGG gift cards, Shopback has 3% Cashback on this.

  • If anyone's actually interested in buying, try to find users with access to 50% off Samsung vouchers and buy a code from them. Would end up still being significantly cheaper than any other deal available.

eg. 1tb S23 Ultra would be $1324 + cost of code.

    • Haha that's the dream! Where to find them is the question 😅

  • For anyone already with Telstra and out of contract. I just signed up a new number (put it in the same account), spoke to a telstra rep on the phone and got the old number put onto the newly registered plan. No issues.

    • I wish i could do with Optus.

      • I've always stuck to Telstra since you can basically do this every 12 months. Sometimes excellent deals like this one, which effectively makes a new phone free or almost free (since my S21 512gb Ultra is averaging 800 to 1K resale), paying the same monthly bill as usual anyway.

        • Hey @Kentrolla what are the wordings that you used to merge the two together? Cause i asked on live chat the other day and the rep said he/ she would not be able to do it for me.

          • @going nowhere: You can't do it through live chat, due to security reasons etc. You have to call 132200 and speak to someone, and do a "Change FNN". There is no merging.

You cancel the one that's no longer on contract, change FNN on the new number using the old one.

        • since my S21 512gb Ultra is averaging 800 to 1K resale

I appreciate this is indeed the market value - but who the hell are these people who buy used phones for a thousand dollars ?!
Phones are the one piece of tech that does actually wear out - batteries lose capacity, ports get worn, case gets marked etc etc - and you don't even know how bad any of this stuff is until you start using it.
And on top of all that, if you have a thousand dollars to spend then you can already buy awesome handsets brand new !!

          • @Nom: No idea. But I've always managed to find a local cash on pickup buyer very quickly as soon as I've listed it.

That's another reason I always only keep my new phone for 2 years, as the loss in value doesn't make sense to keep it for longer.

Topping up 200 to 400 every 2 years to swap to a new one, rather then wait 3 or 4 years and having to add 600, 800+ etc.

This year there's effectively no top up since TGG have the store cash and GC totalling 340 or something. So it's either I do this and get a free phone, or don't and not get one.

    • Would this work with Boost as well?

  • My phone has arrived at TGG for me to pick up. I hope the same has happened for the rest of you.

    Enjoy your friday!

    • When did you order it? I just did yesterday. Was quoted 5 days or so.

      • Ordered it on monday

  • Can we canel the $69 plan with 50% penalty just like optus plan from HN

    • +1

You'll end up paying more then the $750 you get off. They mention the amount in the terms and conditions voice recording that you have to agree to. Total is over $750, plus they mention any vouchers received from the sign up will be void. Which means you'll be double screwed and end up paying even more.

  • -1

    @Kentrolla
As per t&c, Plan has voucher of $300 which is totally diff from deal.
I beleive they will cancel that voucher but since we are not getting $300 voucher in any case, it will be only cancellation fees. How much amount they say in voice recording?

    • +1

It doesn't matter what voucher/gift/promo you get.

It's really simple. If you sign up, then cancel. Whatever bonus you received for signing up will be forfeit. This includes the $750 off on the phone, which you will have to repay.

On top of this, you will have to pay out a sum to Telstra.

I don't understand why anyone would do this. Total sum will be over the cost of the outright phone, plus time wasted.

      • +2

Because they got this idea that they can outsmart the system and thereby getting it cheaper.

        • +2

          Yeah I figured.

There's no loophole. Telstra have obviously got it covered.

I went to JB first to ask about their $700 GC deal with 24 month plan (before finding out about this better one).

Before I even asked anything, the store rep told me any cancellations will result in being charged for the $700 GC on top of cancellation fees.

For me personally, this is the best deal. $1199 for phone after Telstra sign up. And more cash back after selling my S21 512GB Ultra. Plus the 250 and 80 (or 90) storecash.

  • Has anyone had such experience with present or past deal of Telstra

  • Went to JB hi-fi this morning and they wouldn't do this deal and would have to go to tgg to get it.

    • +3

Why would they? It's only through Good Guys, not JB. It's like going to Lamborghini to order an Audi lol

      • I'm pretty sure some people here got the same offer through JB rather than tggs, a matter of fact my brother got the same deal last week at the same jb I went to.

        • That's amazing! I'm sure they matched the $90 store cash too then totalling $340?

  • How long does the gift card take to be sent after picking up the phone?

    • I was told you needed to redeem it online via the TGGs website.

  • I went in and signed up yestersay for the $750 off s23 series on $69 plan
I got the email bill from telstra but theres no email from the good guys to comfirm a phone preorder.

According to the t&c it gets processed after the port in?

My port in finished yesterday at 2pm. Do i just need to wait longer? Am just a little confused since theres no record for me ro say ive pre ordered it?

    • Edit: all good just got a text from them

      • Do you not get the phone straight? Or have to wait?

        • I'm sure they would not have given you the phone until the port occurs. Some stores wont have stock yet and others will.

        • Have to wait. A few pages back some people got it a few days ago, but they pre ordered earlier.

  • I just ordered s23 ultra, pay only 20% deposit as I intended to use the gift card that comes it to oay the remainder of the phone.
However, apply gift card online and received the email back saying eligible claims will receive the bonus once they have received their item. Did anyone else receives this or you get the gift card straight away?

Also, for anyone who wants to claim TRS, the invoice date will show the date you picked up the phone. appraently, the staff told me that.

    • They closed the loophole, GC only triggers after full payment.

    • I did the same with 20% upfront, and hopefully, I will get the voucher $250 before I make the full payment and can utilize it along with store cash.

      • You can't, it gives a message that you have successfully redeemed the voucher and will receive it when you get the phone.

        • I will give it a go once I receive the voucher via Txt/Email. Not sure how long it take as I did the signup yesterday in the store.

          • @Looking4Bargians: You don't get the voucher until full payment triggers its release. Good luck anyway.
I will take advantage of the ultimate gift card flybuys deal to save a bit.

            • +1

@Spendmore: I paid in full on sat and claimed online same day, but yet to receive the gift card.

              • @Richsta: I did see the store cash is paid out on a specific "payday" so maybe they do a cycle with the GC also.

  • Messaged MyTelstra through the app
    And they mentioned that
"Thank you for getting in touch about this . We have been receiving multiple inquiries with regards to the same offer a couple of days back. That being said, we have raised it to the management already to get some clarifications with JB Hi-fi as we do not have access to the said offers as of this writing. It's important that we get it fixed. I know you have spent a lot of time on this already. We'll definitely communicate with you once we have resolved this issue."

Anyone else having luck with obtaining the port in monthly credit?

    • Yep. I did right after doing an FNN change. I find it way better and easier to speak to someone via the 132200 line, then dealing with live chat. They seem to know what they're doing more then the live chat people.

After all the deductions etc, my new phone is "costing" me a negative amount (hope I'm saying that correctly). Eg. I'm profiting from doing this, as opposed to not (hanging on to old phone and doing nothing) lol

This years deal was exceptional though, $750 reduction on phone price AND GC's. It's good enough to make a swap next year AND the following year possible. Usually only do this once every 2 years.

      • Hey ive just signed on to this plan on sat and i went to call in to swap over my numbers, but they are saying they had to cancel my service with the number i want to transfer to this contract. Did yo get the same? I thought it was a straight forward transfer. They did say 1 service was a contract and the the other was post paid. O told them that i better jot lose my number in the process but they confirmed they will save my number. It was some indian lady who really didnt know the process so she involved her team leader but im nervous as i dont want to lose my number.

        • You dont straight away lose your number. Its quarantined. Not sure for how long though.

          • @xoom: I just rang telstra again and spoke a local who confirmed that your number is held for a year as long as you fint port out. He confirmed that my swap over was completed now. App and online is down so i cant check but i got him to email a confirmation.

        • Well yeah, the one off contract will be cancelled. The number is held for 6 months (as per what the local Telstra rep in Perth told me). Change FNN on the newly registered plan.

          • @Kentrolla: did you get your FNN changed the day you signed up with the new plan or did you wait for a couple of days and made the call?

            • @going nowhere: Same day right after I got back. I usually time it just a day before my billing cycle, which in my case is the 10th, so I did everything on the 9th.

              • @Kentrolla: Thanks a lot. My next billing cycle starts in a week time. I will give them a call tmr to get it changed.

      • Could you please share the maths? I'm trying to work out how to get a negative too. Thanks.

        • Getting a negative depends on what phone you currently have to cycle. I usually do this every 2 years or sometimes after 1 year, just because it'll cost almost nothing or in this case a negative balance due to your 2nd hand phone value still being high. I've found that waiting longer then 2 years will end up in me spending more to top up for an upgrade.

          $1949 - $750 Telstra discount - $880 (S21U 512GB phone sale) - $250 GC - $90 store cash = -$21

Pre 12 month sign up Telstra post paid = $69/month

Post sign up after talking to the rep for a discount = $49/month for 12 months

Will be using the GC and store cash very soon, as wife is going to do exactly what I did and swap her old iphone ($700 value) to a S23P today at TGG.

  • So where is the cheapest place to get this phone?

I went into good guys and the s23+ came to $899 (not allowed to use gift card as the gift card is processed after the phone is paid in full) on the 12 month contract.

Is good guys the cheapest deal?

    • +1

the optus deal is slighty better

  • Can anyone please tell me if it is possible to add international calls add-on for $10/month in this deal with Telstra?

  • So im at goodguys signing up to this plan and porting my number over from Vodafone and goodguys is saying I won’t receive the $300 gift card from Telstra as that’s a seperate deal…??

    • +1

Yeah that's true, you get the $250 GG gift card and the $750 discount plus $90 GG store cash.

    • You get the 750 only instead of the 300.

    • +1

They have 2 promo's atm. One is a $300 GC and one for a $750 reduction on the phone. You have to choose 1, not both.

After finalising payment for whichever phone, you get a GC plus whatever the storecash amount it.

  • I don't understand how the optus deal isn't better than this deal? There's so many more votes. On this deal, but I see better value with the optus one, especially if cancelling.

    • Care to elaborate?

For me (if i've worked this out correctly)

      Harvey Norman S23U 512GB
If terminating the plan immediately $828 (ETC) + $599 upfront for the phone = $1,427

      Good Guys S23U 512GB
      Bonuses:
      Bonus $250 GC
      Bonus $750 off the phone
      Bonus $90 Store Cash

      Phone cost is $1,949 + $414 (ETC) - $750 = $1,613
$1,613 at Good Guys Vs Harvey at $1,427 BUT then there is $250GC and $90 Store Cash…
So $1,613-$250-$90 = $1,273 (granted you won't be able to use the GC to reduce the price of the phone but overall value is better?)

      • +2

The cancellation costs are far more then $414. Plus you're no longer entitled to the $750 when cancelling. You will be charged upon cancellation. You must have skipped listening to the full T's amd C's audio recording.

        • Great, back to the drawing board for me :(

    • @kimba88 the optus cancellation deal is $599 + 828 payout = $1427 total cost (less $250 if you count the HN GC making it $1177).

For people on Telstra already, this works out better as 1199 less 340 in GC's = $859. As I'd only be paying $20 more then the usual 49, which still works out cheaper then staying with a 49 Telstra plan and doing this Optus cancellation thing. ($1099 or so if you deduct the 240 extra for the year).

Optus deal only works out "better" if you don't want to be with Telstra and have a cheaper plan. Since you're effectively already paying $78 more then this GG deal. So if you do have a cheaper plan then a $49 Telstra plan, don't forget to factor in the additional $6.50/month for 12 months to make it comparable.

Keep in mind this is on the basis that I've "lost" $240 from the GC's since I'm paying $20 more per month (12 months). However in my case I got $20 off for 12 months from Telstra. So still on $49 AND a cheaper phone then through Optus cancellation.

The only way for any deal to be better, is if you're paying something like $20 odd per month and have the same Telstra coverage, which I don't believe is possible to obtain.

Also, keep in mind the vote count doesn't really mean a deal is better or worse. A lot of folks can't math lol. Always best to do your own calculations and assessments.

      • Yeah the rep said they were surprised at how much value this deal was when it was announced to them.

      • I don't think you get GC if u sign up with harvey norman? I think they only give the GC if u buy the phone outright.

Im also contemplating if I want to get telstra or optus deal. As at the moment i am paying $25/month with wollies mobile that is on telstra network.

      • @Kentrolla
My current plan with optus is $29/month (no lock in contract) at the moment I'm on 50gb. So $29x12 = $348 (if we were to compare against a 12month plan).
        $1949-$750 = $1199 (512gb ultra)
        $1199 (512gb ultra)+ $828 (TGG phone plan) = $2027
        $2027- $250 (voucher) - $90 (TGG instore credit) = $1687

        Optus offer
        $828 (phone plan cancelled) +$599 (512gb ultra) = $1427
        $1427 - $250 (voucher-if obtainable) = $1177
        $1177+348 (current phone plan) =$1525

I'm also contemplating moving to circles.life on a $20/month plan that gets 50gb. This will then further reduce my costs if I follow through.

So for me the optus offer is better? Have I worked that out correctly? Or is it better to buy outright and then use my plan? It's all so confusing and my brain is Fried with all the variations 😂

        • Yes. If you're on $20 something per month, then you should go with the optus way. I put that down above :)

Because if you went with TGG, you'll get the phone cheaper but end up paying more since you're paying $49 or 69 for 12 months with Telstra.

          • @Kentrolla: @Kentrolla

Thanks for that.. But if I managed to get $49/month, then it ends up cheaper than my current plan yeah?

            $59/month + 512gb ultra = $1567
            $49/month + 512gb ultra = $1447

Trying to figure out if it's worth the risk.. Not many people have managed to get the discounted $49/month have they?

Also, TGG gift card and store credit had to be spent in a certain time, correct?

            • @kimba88: Yes, correct (to all of the above).

For me I can't go with anyone else than Telstra, plus the 100GB. I also always recycle this 12 month Telstra thing annually or every 2 years. Since this plan is only 12 months, I'll do it Feb 2024 for another phone or a gift card, which ever offers the best value at the time.

It's not that hard getting the $20 new plan discount applied. Last year I did it through live chat. This year simultaneously when doing the cancel and FNN change. Just be polite and ask nicely.

              • @Kentrolla: @Kentrolla

                Thank you.

If one telstra rep says no to Port in credit, do you just decline then disconnect and try another telstra rep? Or do they have all of the last chat on file and go by that?

                • @kimba88: Not sure with live chat. I just called.

Might want to check up if you can get the HN GC or not if you're doing the optus cancel thing. The HN rep posted there saying there is no GC if you're subsidising the cost via telco sign up.

  • Just a short update. Picked up the phone today at GG, cream 512gb. (ordered on 9th)

    • +1

      Enjoy!👍🏼

    • Hey mate did you get the gift card after you picked up the phone straight away?
Ive picked mine up today (ordered sat 11 and arrived into store yesterday which was quick but i didnt answer because i thought it was spam lol) but have not received the gift card via email yet.

      • You need to redeem the gift card using your docket number and sales date. Look below for the link from @bluebluebird

Storecash will be appear on TGG wallet in a few days apparently.

I'm likely going to go back tomorrow and do this whole process again for an S23 Plus lol.

        • The storecash gets credited every 2nd Thurs so the next one will be on 23 Feb.

        • the store rep kept telling me they will email me the gift card links.
i just looked at that link below and it says had to claim it by 16 Feb?
but the phone was only available to pickup today and paid in full

          • @jizztin: I spoke the customer care. The agent said you are not eligible to get but then 30 min hassle, then she emailed me that yes, I am eligible but will receive it by the end of the week. I hope I will get it by 24th Feb. Bought on the 12th, (I paid 20% upfront and the rest on the 16th). Spoke to her on 20th Feb.

      • still waiting for my giftcard as well, picked up phone today
