    prices are pretty meh

  • Hi guys,
can some one recommend the size of ssd for me? atm I am using a 60GB SSD for windows 7 and had to move the "USERS" and installing all big software to a different drive.
I am guessing this is decreasing my performance.

will 120GB be sufficient for complete windows 7 or Windows 8 full installation along with all installed software? or should I be aiming for bigger drive?

    Thanks in advance.

    • I think you have done the right thing. Just keep win 7 and programs on the SSD and have all user files out on a HDD. I have done this on my highest performance machine (256GB) and it has a silly amount of free space. I have been considering doing this to my 'family' pc with a 60GB like you have.

The other advantage of user files on a separate drive is it will make the 6-12 month reinstalling of your microsoft os process simpler. It's just the OS and program files.

So really it depends then on how many programs you install.

      • how about on a laptop? i guess there is only slot for a internal hd, is it? the external hd is a bit too slow if i want to run something from it.

    • Only put your operating system on your ssd.

Read somewhere on here expect nice drops in price next month…think i will wait

    • and more drops the month after, and more drops the month after… Pick a price point you are happy with and then buy. Price will drop but i love my ssd at the price i paid and the use i have had.

      • oh i agree but will wait till next month anyway…cheers

        • yeah I waited about a month for the next drop, then grabbed it.

    Prices don't seem that cheap?

Looks pretty average actually. Quick Look on static ice shows cheaper elsewhere.

    Not so "awesome" prices…

    • Wow, the Vertex 4 units are $2 and $6 under Centrecom respectively. WOW !!! RUSH OUT!

Save even LESS on the Agility units ! BE QUICK !

Far better value would be to have had OCZ shares earlier in the week:
      http://www.techspot.com/news/49472-ocz-reportedly-in-acquisi…

"OCZ's shares rose 23% Thursday, adding about $69 million to its market value."

I'd stay away from OCZ Agility 3 as I had 2 faulty ones in their first few weeks of life.
Supplier also said they were considering not offering them due to so many returns.
