On my card and also supplementary card. Thanks OP.

  • I got Ampol, Spend $70 or more, get $10 back

  • I'm moving house and seen this offer this evening, but don't see how it is of any use if I'm not billed for a while. Can a credit be applied to your account in advance?

    • -2

Can a credit be applied to your account in advance?

      no

    • +6

Yes. You can go into their MyAccount dashboard, and select "Make a Payment". Don't forget to use a Referral link to sign up to Globird, you get a 50 and so too the referrer!

      • Is this something I can do before the account is transferred over ?

      • +1

I am just confirming that the above link is probably the best way to prepay $200 online - if you try to go a link from a bill it goes via billpoint (which is likely not eligilble spend). Using the MyAccount link showed the biller as "Globird Energy".

        • I've used the Billpoint link in the past to create a direct debit with Globird and it showed up correctly, but certainly true that safest would be to do it through their own MyAccount just in case things have changed.

          • +1

@bloomer: Yes, it is hard to know via billpoint. The terms of the amex offer seem to exclude 3rd party payment processors.

I got the tracking confirmation from Amex today - so the MyAccount method definitely works at least.

      • +1

It's a pity referral links for Globird aren't showing up at the top of this page (at least for me). You'd need to go to a previous bargain like this one to find a referrer. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/700439

        • I can refer you :)

  • +3

oh so we just need to use amex to pay its bill ? i thought something like new customer deal.
oh great i dont mind to park $200 in there.
for people who interested to join globird, dont forget the referral $50 for each! my experiences with them were good

  • Not available on any of my Platinum Edge cards

  • +2

Did not get it on my explorer card :(
feels like I haven't got any decent offer for so long.

  • I don't have it on my Discovery or Escape cards.

I am an existing customer that's used both cards with Globird currently/previously so it might be targeted.

  • Just signed up for their gas.how long does it take for the new connection to be activated hope its done before the offer expires on 28th Feb

    • Your current energy retailer will most likely do a final meter read at the end of your current billing cycle to finalise your account before switching to the new retailer.

      • Thanks seems my current bulling cycle ends on 10th March so does it mean that even if i sign up now it will not be activated till 10th March . Also if the account is not activated i dont think i will be able to even prepay

        • Unfortunately, unless you are already a Globird Energy customer, it is unlikely you will be able to take advantage of this AMEX offer because you will not be able to switch to this retailer in time, except for new connections.
You should not be able to prepay / preload prior to switching since you are technically not a customer of this retailer yet.

          • @purple1: I could be wrong, but I thought the transfer happened immediatelyish after the cooling off period, at least with smart meters?

            • @bloomer: If you have a smart meter - true in Vic for electricity - you can transfer in a few days.

There are no gas smart meters. When I transferred to Globird for gas a year ago they paid for a special read to get me faster than waiting for the next scheduled read.

I am finding Globird very competitive on gas in Vic

  • -2

Reminds me of the red energy AMEX deal in the past where would load up account with credit balance using each AMEX.

Not sure if it smart to do these days after the Deliveroo situation. If load up Globird account with credit balance e.g. 4x AMEX, would they keep the account credit balance if they go bust before I use it. Or if well performing company then unlikely this would happen anyway.

    • If they go bust, they're not going to give you any credit back because they would have already used it to go bust :)

  • Compared their super saver rates with my current provider lumo, only saving like $4 each month for electricity after the Amex offer discount, probably better to put money into offset account with interest rate keep raising

    • I am staying with Lumo for electricity, but Globird far cheaper than Lumo for gas in Vic

  • oh no i dont get on my cheap amex…. too bad ready to pay my globird bill next

  • i have the offer on many of my cards. how long would it take to change provider to Globird ? i think it would take longer then the end date of the amex offer. is there a way for new customers to get a Reference Number before 28 Feb so they can prepay their accounts in advance?

    • Well, ask them? We are not globird staff, but we can help with referral

    • Appreciate if you can please post an update here, if you've contacted them

  • paid~! im at $350 credit now. thanks to the solar panels (and couple referrals)

    • Were you able pay in advance as a new customer ?

      • +1

nah im already customer since 5 months ago
edit: and amex confirmation email congrat you have used this offer bla bla bla received

  • +1

Can confirm that I switched over to Globird (took less than 10 days) and then was able to prepay my account using the above method WITHOUT having received my first bill. $200 has been credited to my account and $50 back to amex. Cheers!

    • Thanks for the update. Were you able to pay as soon as you submitted the application ?

      • Well i guess as long you have the online account setup, then you can.. because the link to pay requires login…. why the rush? Just apply today don't forget the referral, then sit and wait…

        • +1

Just wanted to make the Amex transactions before 28/02

      • Had to wait for the online account access. I think I registered on the 16/1 and then was given online access on the 24/1.

  • +2

Signed up today, called them immediately and they have given me the account number which is required for online setup. Processed 2 X $200 payments successfully.

    Impressed!

    • Nice. i might signup with them tomorrow using your trick

    • +2

Paid $2000 in to my account(using multiple cards) and was unable to make any further payments. Called them now and was advised that they can't onboard due to issues with meter read blah blah and the credit on the account has to go back to the original cards. I'm sure Amex will revert the $50 credits.

      Not Impressed!

      • +1

lol, i got exactly the same, only got $1k in my account, and saying same meter issue BS, i knew it's made-up excuse to decline people using multiple amex offers

        • +1

Not sure what problem they have got when we are pre paying and am assuming Amex is giving the $50 and not Globird.

  • -1

Hi - do you make payment via this link to utilise this offer?

    https://www.bpoint.com.au/payments/GlobirdEnergy/?BillerCode…

    • +2

read from the top, i followed Vortex99 way

    • I did this, and have gotten the cashback.

      Goto:
      https://www.globirdenergy.com.au/

      then click on Quick Pay

You may ask: isn't this exactly the link you showed?

It is. I did this to satisfy their requirement of going to their website - as mentioned in the Amex deal. In case they look at the referrer URL when you pay at the bpoint.com.au link to check if it came from the Globird website (as per their terms). I doubt this in this case, but just to be sure.

  • +2

Be careful if you pay using multiple card to the same account. I was told by their CSR that they will reject the cashback despite this is clearly not mentioned in the Amex T&C and not how Amex works.

You need to be more caution on promotion from this company.

  • +2

They are doggy, maximum allowance is $200 payment, I said I have 5 amex card and would like to pay $1000 in total, they said not, any amount over than $200 will get refunded back to the original payment method

    • +2

If they want to limit per Globird account they should have stated that in T&C.

    • +1

They are dodgy. They are eager to refund the balance but I haven't received any written comms saying they are unable to onboard my property for electricity/gas.

  • +3

Refunds have started - checked my Amex accounts today and all but one has been refunded 😡🤬😡

    • +1

      Same here. Not happy.

  • Paid 3 lots of $200 and all got refunded, $50 credits reversed as well.

  • +2

Joined Globird in Feb, inquired if I could make payments in advance of the first bill and they said yes. Made a few payments. All refunded this weekend, credits gone too.

Globird (or AMEX) need to be specific on what is or is not permitted in the terms of the statement credit promo. If multiple payments can't be made, no problem at all, but Globird (or AMEX) need to clearly state it. They didn't.

Disappointing time-wasting experience. Sorry OP, have to neg this one.

Same here. Paid 2 x $200 and all got refunded including the $50 credits being reversed.

  • lucky i just did once.

  • anyone make a complaint for this?

  • +1

All of my credit has been refunded saying they can’t service my property at this stage due to issues with bill reader.

I received an email from current provider(AGL) with subject - “ Before you leave us, let's talk”

Logged in to globird online account and the current status is “ Your energy transfer to GloBird Energy has started”

So just to refund the credit on the account they’ve told some BS but in reality they were working in the backyard to get the accounts transferred. Dodgy!
