  • windows 11 compatible good

    • Compatible with windows 12?

    • You can make a win11 install without the checks and it works on most everything Ive tossed it at, just buy a key online and activate!

    • +1

that windows 11 compatible crap will not stand.

    • +1

The real selling point of this dell series console is they can perfectly run Hackintosh, hopping between Win & Mac with a budget price.

  • +3

I use this exact model daily at work (w/16gb ram), perfect for all your basic stuff, can run some big PowerBI setups but it will max out the CPU when loading. 100% recommend for older family who just need to browse internet and watch YT.

    • +1

An i5 9500 is still an epic processor. For sure would be excellent for basic stuff. I'm sure it probably benches faster than the 4500u Ryzen laptops people are buying.

  • +2

Does it really have wifi? If not in headline, just fine print, probably another error from slack copy-paste. And no BT either.

    • +1

      https://www.dell.com/ae/business/p/optiplex-7070-micro/pd

Support page says it has a m2 slot for a wifi card so it's probably populated

    • +1

Most micro desktop PCs come with Bluetooth and Wifi.

      • +1

Actually if you're looking at refurbished ones like this, there possibly a decent chance they don't come with bt or wifi.

The business that owned them prior might have had security policies that meant they prefer devices without them, just to reduce risk of intercepted data.

So worth making sure with the seller if its important - although its also not hard to add either.

    • +4

Usually it is easy to tell from the item photo if it has Wifi/Bluetooth because it will have an antenna clearly sticking out the back of it.

Looks like generic stock photos though, so no way to be sure for this listing.

Wish all sellers would take their own photos, especially for 2nd hand goods.

  • Is HDMI port installed?

    • +1

Probably not. The 3070 (same form factor, but lacks USB-C) has a HDMI port as standard though.

    • It doesn't matter because it has DisplayPort, so you just use an Active DisplayPort to HDMI convertor.

  • +1

Is this going to be too overkill for a plex server? Is it loud?

    • +5

      I wouldnt say it's overkill.

But I would probably go for a " T " model cpu ( 8500T ) etc to minimise power draw.

    • +1

I have a 7040. Not loud but the fan is at a higher pitch due to the size/speed of it.

    • +1

nope the 9th Gen CPU is great for Intel QuickSync hardware transcoding (you need a plexpass), but you will need to store your media elsewhere.

    • +1

No, but you could also look at a lower spec. There's this system with a 8100T also available.

I have the m700 tiny from a previous deal which has Plex on it.

  • Optional 3rd Video Port (VGA/DP/HDMI 2.0b/USB Type-C Alt Mode)

Can anyone confirm what port this is?

    • +1

I think its all random depending on the customistion from what the lease company selected

  • +1

Noob question sorry…..Do all these micro PCs now come without a HD for local storage?

Yes, probably installable, but that's an extra parts & labour expense as I have no skill whatsoever to open a PC and install anything.

    • This one comes with a 256GB SSD installed.

    • +1

It's not hard to open this micro PC at all. You don't even need a screw driver.
It has slots for one M.2 2280 SSD (SATA or PCIe 3 x4 NVME), and one 2.5 inch SATA HDD (SSD or mechanical).
      Here's the Service Manual

      • Thanks, still nervous though.

        • +2

I installed a 1TB nvme drive, was extremely easy to do. Plug and play.

          • @interfreak: Thanks, I would want a 1TB + drive for storage and keep the SSD free for running programs and short term holds.

  • Would this be able to run Path of Exile?

    • +1

No but it will run Elden Ring.

    • +3

Probably not, you want a discrete GPU for 3D games. The best iGPU is the 680m which would run PoE but it it's in AMD 6800 laptop cpus.

If you want the cheapest option to run PoE, get the larger refurb office machine that often get posted here and get a Low Profile 1650ti ($250) which would be about $500 all up.

Personally I would spend a bit more and get a prebuilt gaming pc around the $1k mark.

Edit: You could technically run it at 720p lowest settings at 30fps with dips here and there. So basically not really…

  • +1

    ooo tempting

  • +1

Where was this when the 22% code was still valid last week? Would have bought this instead of the 8th gen cpu one with minimal cost difference

    • I know, right!
      Same thing for me.

Luckily though the 9th gen has minimal performance improvements <5% over the 8th gen.

So it's not worth upgrading if you've already got an 8th gen.

Compare 8th Gen vs 9th Gen Intel CPU

      • P.S. The <5% improvement is when you compare apples with apples.

An x600 will always be better than an x500.

But an 9600 will only be slightly better than an 8600.

    • The last deal was still very good though, could get the 7060 with 16GB RAM for $284 all up, $68 cheaper than this deal.

      • The last deal was only 8500T but

        • +2

True, but unless you're gonna use the PC for heavy tasks, you'll notice little to no difference between an 8500t and 9600 in day to day use.

        • 8500T better for home automation/always on tasks

          • @bdl: why is 8500t better?

      • true, but if the 22% code is applied then the final price is $311.2 for this unit, so its only $27 difference, but I get it if they put both models up at the same time everyone will go for the 9th gen and they will stuck with 1000 units of the gen 8

  • Bit the bullet and bought one

1sec later theres a deal for the HP model. Which one is better?? what should i do?

    • HP 9600 > Dell 9500

      https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/3444vs3554/Intel-i5-950…

9600 gives you an extra 6% performance over the 9500.

Not a huge deal breaker, but if you want to squeeze the most bang for your buck, then get the 9600 at the same price.

You can try lodging an order cancellation request through eBay and/or contacting the seller to request order cancellation if it hasn't been posted yet.

      • I just cancelled my Dell Order but it says seller will contact me by 8th Feb, that's way too long

        • Usually you'll hear back from the seller by the following business day, but since it's the weekend it might take until Monday or so.

I assume the 8th of Feb is just an automatic deadline that eBay has set for the seller.

          • +2

@Noob Noob: I think both Dell and HP will be sold out by Monday

        • You are the party that changed their mind though.

It's not bad service.to not have an answer right away over a.weekend.

          • @Chiang: I never said it was bad service, I'm just worried that if I want till Monday both deals will be sold out

            • +1

              @Homr: buy both

then message them about cancelling which ever one you don't want

which one do you want btw?

              • @pinkybrain: HP is OOS so decision was made for them :)

    • +1

      Gotta catch em all

  • Just to confirm that this comes with the Win11 key embedded in the firmware?

    • Yup, embedded in bios.

    • Effectively. Its a bit more complicated than that, but yes you can easily install and activate Windows from scratch on a new SSD.

  • Any deals on Dell Optiplex 7060 SFF under 300 soon?

    • They seem to be ~$400 - $450 on ebay at the moment.

They're taking a long time to drop below that $300 mark that 7050s hit 3 or 4 years ago, i guess everyone wants 8th gen intel.

    • Almost…https://reebelo.com.au/products/dell-optiplex-7040-sff-i-7-6700-3-4-g-hz-256-gb-black-16-gb-ram-excellent-nqgds?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=18395886443&utm_content=&utm_term=&gclid=Cj0KCQiAofieBhDXARIsAHTTldoVuZ7ZcCDtWuwx2_cUM62XHy7rJQaR11p8IGAeLK-saLzSa-b6CowaAkILEALw_wcB&gclid=Cj0KCQiAofieBhDXARIsAHTTldoVuZ7ZcCDtWuwx2_cUM62XHy7rJQaR11p8IGAeLK-saLzSa-b6CowaAkILEALw_wcB

I've a very silly question (already post it on another similar destopk): I'm planning to build a home-server that will run an MVP web app that I'm currently working on. Any idea is this can do the job? Or any other recommendations? Thanks.

  • Can this support 3 4k monitors?

  • This item is out of stock.

  • Mine one came yesterday and both units were missing wifi antennas.
