Samsung ML-1865 Mono Laser Printer, $49 at Officeworks

130

Saw this deal on the Officeworks website today to replace my dead, two-month-out-of-warranty Brother laser printer. Seems to be tied cheapest according to Staticice, however the other stores are only located in Sydney. It can be delivered (not sure of delivery cost) or as I did, shipped to your nearest store and picked up from there free of charge.

Additionally, an extra two years of warranty on this unit is $5, which covers mechanical and electrical damage.

Edit: not wireless version. My mistake. Edited title

This is true, can't say I'll be buying another printer that is over $9!

      • I received a wireless Dell V525W because they had none of the original printers in stock!!!!

Now the box is sitting in the middle of my room and I don't know what to do with it. :)

        • Same here. I gave it to my Dad. He uses it as a scanner now.
          Can't complain for 9 dollars.

What is this $9 printer that you all speak of? My "missed out on a bargain"-sense is tingling!

          Dells most recent online mistake.

    • hahaha I think most of Ozb has a printer by now ;D

But it might be out of toner.

    • some of us might have two :) best bargain for 9 dollars, by one get on free

  • Thats cheaper than a toner cartridge itself .

  • Out of stock online and its online only

  • Says its not wifi

    • you're right. Thanks for pointing that out. Edited

  • Out of stock :(

  • Still shows as in stock for me, although it does state that 'Availability may vary from state to state'. So I can confirm that it is in stock for Queensland

  • the wireless version is selling at Umart for $65.

  • IMO i think this is a better buy: http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Pri… i've had one for a few months and it's been great

The Xerox P205B is $49 too, with better specs.

    ML1865 vs P205B
    speed: 18 vs 24ppm
    memory: 8mb vs 64mb
usb cable: not included vs included
starter page yield: 500 vs 600
    duty cycle: 5000 vs 20,000

I still prefer the brother 2130

    • I ended up buying the Xerox at OW about a month ago. It wasn't even on special compared to the brother printers. This is the best value budget printer out there IMO. small, fast, high starter yield and large memory. I fully recommend it.

Back in the old days (maybe five or six years ago), laser printers were going for upwards of $500 plus your first-born child. These prices are dropping fast, I think I'll wait for the $9 model.

Yeah, these days first born kids are not scared when you threaten to swap them for a laser printer. :)

I have the wireless version 1865W ("W" for Wireless") but it's an amazing cheap printer! Will highly vouch for this printer.

    • me too - got sick of buying colour ink cartridges for the kids - plonked one of these in - cheap + reliable B&W printing - which is generally all you need…

  • Moots … how much was your printer… Curious, might get wireless printer- Laserjet tho

    • Umart $65 someone said earlier - i think I paid $89 a year ago

      • Was $72.00 including courier post purchased on eBay with Tax Invoice for warranty. I brought it at 5:30PM it was at my door 8:00AM the next morning (Syd-Syd) but the fastest parcel by far ever ordered!

  • For anyone that's interested in a cheap wireless multi-function A3 printer with automatic feeder and duplex take a look at the Brother MFC-J6510DW. I picked one up today, definitely not a small machine (it is A3 so that is to be expected). DSE and OW have them for $199 at the moment, seems like a cheap price from a bricks and mortar.

I got the wifi version for $25 last month at HN

  • Ouch, did anyone notice that the starter cartridges are getting smaller and smaller?

I print a lot in my office, and we have to buy our own printers and paper… x_X!
