@Nedkellyinthebush: Yes, you have different amounts in each currency, like different pots of money.

But Wise recently stopped basically adding money to your ARS amount. you cannot convert AUD/EUR/USD to ARS anymore and also not add directly to the ARS pot from your account.

And today I also got the dreaded email. So far none of my cards seem to work anymore. Found also some UK discussion board about it.

              • @linkser: I was reading the hotukdeals forum and there’s people there that says Visa cards no longer work, but Mastercard still do work. My payment is due in 2 days so I’ll try both

Revolut can generate single use Mastercards so I’ll try that (seems to work in the uk)

                Source: https://www.hotukdeals.com/discussions/tidal-argentina-subsc…

If Mastercard works, then it could be due to this visa and PayPal loophole that has been closed https://www.hotukdeals.com/visit/comment/49477618/17365293 it allowed people to make money just by converting the peso (lol) so nothing to do with Tidal itself. I’ll find out in two days and will post the outcome here

                • @Nedkellyinthebush: EDIT: Actually looks like Revolut is not working for uk people. But the starling card (Mastercard) does. Too bad it’s for uk only and require a uk number to sign up

    • +1

when did this happen? think I paid for tidal mid Jan no issue on 28degrees

      • Yeah me too.. curious to know if this is across the board?

      • +1

$1.73 deducted from 28D two days ago for top-tier family plan. My favourite subscription service. I'll cry if it dies.

        • My Wise card had been working since a year or so but today I also got the email that they couldnt process the payment. And adding any of my cards gave only an error message.

They must have started cracking down on this veeeery recently.

Someone suggested it has to do with VISA, so Mastercards might work? but doubt it. 28degrees is a Mastercard I assume?

          • @linkser: Yes, 28 Degrees is a MasterCard.

I love these workarounds and hacks to get cheaper prices, but over the years more and more companies have changed their billing mechanismso Westerners cannot purchase at 3rd world prices using VPNs. Several years ago you could rip lossless quality music from Deezer with a free account :(

          • @linkser: It looks like the starling card (Mastercard) is working for people in the uk https://www.hotukdeals.com/discussions/tidal-argentina-subsc…

Might be worth trying out our aussie Mastercard cards, I’ll give Macquarie a go as my payment is due in the next couple days

            • @Nedkellyinthebush: Interesting. Somewhere else here a reddit post was linked, which also mentioned a Mastercard starting with 53 worked out…

Do have one EUR Mastercard, will also give it a shot later.

              • @linkser: I tried now newly setup Revolut and it accepted the one time use creditcard. Authorization was successful but let's see if the payment will go through in 1-2 days time.

Just wondering if now I have to add every month new payment method and update…

This is how I did it many years ago moving from an Australian account:
      1. cancel plan and let it expire
      2. connect to Netflix using VPN.
      3. login and resubscribe under PK plans

      • You need to enter PK phone number for verification. Most people will fail at this step.

        • +1

usually not if you already have an Aus number on the account

          • @Amaris: ^ this. SMS verification is only used for new accounts

          • @Amaris: Not if you are changing countries using existing account

can anyone write a mini guide for Pakistan? :/ the instructions are not clear at all. what does it mean by "Pay with new digital bank account."

    • +1

about 5.70 and 4.15 for standard

  • +2

1100 pkr = $5.70 AUD for 4k plan based on today's FX rates

    • +1

wow, that's /4 the price. what a deal

Just FYI, I have been using Netflix PK for the past few months or so. When I signed up, I needed a PK mobile phone number for verification. Luckily, I knew someone who lives there. I "borrowed" his number to sign up. I have been using Netflix PK without issues since then. I have been paying using my 28 degrees card.

    • I just subscribed Pak Netflix and it did not ask for the phone number at all. I am stuck at the payment page right now.

      • +1

Oh bugger, does it not accept AU credit cards?

        • Yeah same thing happend to me, I'm using Pak local bank debit card for this,

  • How much is Standard HD?

    Currently paying 5.33 via Turkey

    • +1

Netflix MobilePlan – Rs 250/ month.
Netflix Basic Plan – Rs 450/ month.
Netflix Standard HD Plan – Rs 800/ month. = 4.15
      Netflix Premium Plan – Rs 1100/ month. = 5.7

    • +1

      Apparently 4.15 according to above

Might be worth moving house again

    • Go for 4K as it has ATMOS also

      • Affirmative. Going to fly to Pakistan. Currently paying $7ish turkey for basic

        • they will increase the price in March to $10ish.. :-(

            • @R3XNebular: got it on my email.

Also looking for guidance on the 'digital bank account' part

    • Use Wise!

      • wise disposable? also did you need a local phone number??

  • +1

Do i need to have VPN to continue using Netflix after i have registered?

    • No except for India iirc

  • +35

Appreciate the post, but instructions not good enough imo

Reason I haven’t posted Pakistan and only Turkey is because all Australian bank cards decline (despite it not asking for local phone number) and there’s no Pakistan gift cards as backup. I did mention in my post that Pakistan is cheapest but hard to sign up to, given most of OzB users are unable to sign up to Pakistan due to our bank accounts located in Australia

    • I thought that the reason you need to cancel and expire your current account and sign up again in the new country via VPN using your existing account is so you can continue to use the associated payment method and not have to enter a new one.

      • +4

Yup, that's correct. However, Netflix PK ain't accepting the associated payment method, and any new ones entered are declined as well

    • What about Argentina?

    • for those with a wise account, able to apply for a pakistani bank account, are you able to provide the necessary instructions to migrate a turkish account to a pakistani one?

  • +1

Do you need to keep the VPN on to watch netflix? What about on TV?

    • +1

Only need VPN for signing up.

    • Went to 3 countries since the new year, netflix does not work. I contacted netflix, they mentioned that you can only use it in your home country…which is weird because im paying in Turkey but I can still use it in Australia. But does not work in Japan, Korea and Singapore.

      • I also had the same issue with my Turkey account. Works in Australia no problem, but when I travelled to Thailand and Singapore it didn't work.

        • I think it depends on the country. I use Netflix turkey with family in Italy no problem.

        • Yeah depends on the country unfortunately. Didn’t work for me in VN as well.

  • +1

Urban VPN is not connecting to Pakistan server?

    • Yeah, getting error and can't connect.

    • On Android? It wouldn't connect on my phone but worked on my PC.

    • I don't think they have Servers there

      • Same problem here.
VPN won't work on android but worked on PC.

Problem was payment with Aus card. Will keep trying.

        • which card you used?

  • +8

I’m tempted to move to Pakistan, but after the difficulties I faced when moving from Argentina to Türkiye, I’ll wait few months to suss out any new anti-sharing measures.

In reality, I’m closer to cancelling than relocating.

  • idk where Pakistan located but i'm in

      Near lakemba

*** be wary of using UrbanVPN as they seem to reroute some of your traffic to other peers for the sake of creating a free VPN service (p2p reliant VPN)

Being a Pakistani living in Australia I can feel proud finally :D

    • thats a sarcasm right?

      • +7

Why? Pakistan is a beautiful country with beautiful people. It has issues but then which country hasn't? On that note, all countries and all people are beautiful. Just don't fall for mainstream media propaganda.

        • -1

Do you need Netflix in a country for a cheaper price to feel proud of?
Sorry, if this is the statement someone’s supporting, clearly they are undermining a whole lot.
Now if you go back and look at that Sarcasm comment again, may have different meaning.

          • @PopCounty: No, I meant something else. Muneeb said he was "finally" proud, and I assume he said it on a lighter note, and given the fact that its usually negative news that come out of Pakistan. What I understood from slackerman's comment (and I may be wrong) is that he was commenting to the irony in the first part of the comment, i.e. someone having left their country for greener pastures and then feeling proud of it. What I said was to take Muneeb's comment in a broader context, i.e. irrespective of what a country is going through, it is still beautiful. I hope I have clarified my point. Have a nice day :)
