Reckon this would be good for an upcoming AM5 build? I'm reading everywhere that 6000MHz is the sweet spot but I'd assume I could OC those a little closer to 6000MHz if I relax the timings a bit and/or bump the voltage a bit.

Thoughts? Seems like a good price.

Because these are XMP, you do need to manually adjust the timings. The ryzen calculator does not current support ddr5 so you do need to pay a bit more effort into trial and error.

Quote from user cpeiqi: "I would suggest you to buy memory with EXPO profile. Technically, you can use xmp profile memory in AM5 MB. Some AM5 MB reads xmp profile. And some needs you to set the timing manually. "

Thanks. I don't mind getting hands on with the timings, I've spent hours tuning them in my old DDR3 build from 10 years ago.

Also I'm reading mixed opinions oj those dram calculators anyway (at least on Reddit)

EXPO model is a whopping $90 or more expensive so I don't think it's worth it

      • That's important information. Helps lots of people make right choices.

If these have micron dram chips they won’t clock close to 6000 no matter how much you relax the timings, if they’re Samsung you can probably oc to 6000 no problems, these are highly unlikely to be Hynix.

If you do a bit more reading you will find out that timings tend to have a bigger impact on AM5, despite what that AMD employee said about the 6000Mhz sweetspot. Also not just the CL timing but the other numbers too. So pushing CL will make the other numbers worse and you then actually loose performance.
I looked the other day and the sweet spot for price/close to ideal performance was sitting at 5600MHz/CL30-32 at the moment but it was still way more then what these cost.
But prices seem to keep falling so I would say wait longer unless you are building really soon.

      • That's fair. I'm waiting for the new x3d's to come out and my case won't arrive until March anyway. I guess I can wait a bit longer.

        Thanks.

  • Tempting… May have bought if they were EXPO. Aiming for 6000mhz too

  • Is ddr5 6000 the sweet spot equivalent of ddr4 3200?

    • For amd it is the current sweet point, for Intel the sweet point is as high as you can go :)

  • I'm gonna stick with am4 (5700xb gaming and 3700x VM server)with 3200 cl16 for now.

  • Thanks just bought one, price went down to $398 :)

  • If you havent had yours ship yet. Amazon AU have stock and its $396
