Per title. My own experience with these cards is that they're a bit of a hassle to set up, but they do work in most restaurants, so worth the hassle if you go to a lot of…restaurants.

These were a pain in the ass to setup. I had to play with so many puzzles.

    • +1

and if you forget your password, you had to play lots of more puzzles. I was ready to just forfeit my monies.

      • +2

I was ready to just forfeit my monies.

Probably part of their business plan

    • Yes, and more puzzles everytime we want to check balance through app. Very bad design

      • Same thing when you check through their website :(

    • dont forget the verification codes

  • bought 1, thanks.

  • +1

Any way to clear small balances? Soft serves at maccas is the only way I can think of 😂

    • +1

Why not just ask to do a partial payment?

    • Just ask to split pay at the restaurant if they don't mind.

      • +2

Some restaurants won’t allow split payment. Which is the ones I go to on a regular basis.

        • +1

Try a new restaurant next time. The world is your oyster (kilpatrick)!

    • +1

      I top up Subway credits

      • Min top-up is $10, so wont help get rid of the <$10 amounts

  • +2

Bought one but haven't received the card yet, usually instantly…

    • Same here

      • Did you receive by now?

    • Same

    • says it can take up to 2 days

    • Same

    • First time buying, luckily I used PayPal, and hope it went through

    • Sams here. This is weird… Last time, it was almost instant. Hope we get the giftcard soon.

      • +1

Got it 5 hours after order time

  • seems like hardly any options in brisbane?

    • This card can now be used at almost any restaurants, cafes, etc.

      • +1

What does 'almost' mean? Where can you NOT use it?

        • Someone couldn’t use it as bettys burger I remember.

          • @me1stt: Does that mean the restaurant has to opt in?

On that case shouldn't there be a comprehensive list of where you can/can't use it

            • @andresampras: There is list:

You can use your Restaurant Choice gift card at thousands of restaurants, bars, cafes & fast-food establishments that accept EFTPOS or Visa cards around Australia.

The Restaurant Choice Gift Card can be used at the following merchant category locations: Eating Places and Restaurants (5812), Hotels, Caterers (5811), Drinking Places (Alcoholic Beverages), Bars, Taverns, Cocktail lounges, Nightclubs and Discotheques (5813) Fast Food Restaurants (5814) Motels & Resorts, Central Merchant (7011), Amusement Parks, Circuses, Carnivals, and Fortune Tellers (7996), Membership Clubs (Sports, Recreation, Athletic), Country Clubs, and Private Golf Course (7997).

I’ve been using this card without any problems tho.

    • those are just promoted restaurants

you can pretty much use it anywhere that serves food

  • +1

What are the chances they do another 20% off?

  • +3

    These are great

I add them for my Eat Club payments for ultimate discount stacking and also pay for accommodation

    • +2

They work at hotels? Lol loophole

I am holding off for 20%

      • +2

        yeah hotel, motels and resorts

MCC can't tell if you are paying accommodation or food / drinks

        20% would be great

        • So is this direct at hotels or would it work for expedia agoda etc?

          • @Bullion78: won't work on online websites because they are not actually accommodation but online service

            • @Poor Ass: That would depend on how the merchant has been classified and whether the merchant type is in one of the allowed categories.

              • +1

@YesPleaseThankYou: correct but I know that already

sometimes even if they are a restaurant and their EFTPOS is not setup as a restaurant it also can get declined… especially if they are using those square payments and not traditional EFTPOS terminals issued by banks

    • Can you explain what that means please? Are you able to add the balances from these cards to an Eat Club account or do you simply pay at an Eat Club discounted restaurant when you turn up? I have never used/heard of Eat Club before. Thanks.

      • +1

you enter the card like a visa / master credit card on the eat club app as payment…

when you have locked in a deal with eat club, simply bring up the eat club virtual card on your phone wallet and pay… it will deduct the discounted amount off the restaurant choice card

so e.g. you saw a 20% dine in off offer and your total is $15.00, when you tap your eat club card on your wallet it will show $15.00 paid but it'll only take $12 from your Restaurant Choice card

        • and when your RC card has low balance do you just remove it and add another one?

          • @cloudy: yeah you can do that

you can actually add a couple of cards in the eat club app

it's pretty much a visa card

        • Thanks for the explanation. What happens when the balance runs low, like $2.3? Would Eat Club let you use it up and pay for the rest with a normal credit card? I hate wasting small change. Just doesn't sit well with me. The other day my $50 card got down to 25c because of a cashier error and I debated ages on what to do with the balance. Imagine asking the restaurant to split a bill and put 24c on a card…..

          • +1

@Jinster: if it is $2.3 and not enough the card will just decline and you probably can't pay using eat club unless you link it to another card that has enough money

no split bills on eat club

usually I split 20,30c at maccas or HJs…. buy an ice cream

    • Good tip to use with Eatclub offers!

  • Clarifying on whether it can be used at KFC or Meccas might earn you more votes.

    • +1

      They can be.

    • +1

      Meccas

Pretty sure you can only use it in Australia, not Saudi Arabia

      • lol, good one. sry for the typo.

  • It does.

  • Max limit is $300

    • +1

You can buy multiple of $300 though, let's say you bought 4 of $300, the total will be become $1080

  • Huge hassle to use. Many restaurants don't allow split bills. Some allow, but only by percentage, so you need to calculate what percentage of the bill is your balance on the card. And, if the restaurant charges a surcharge for card payment, there is no tell if that surcharge has already been added to the restaurant bill amount unless you pay attention, and if not, your carefully calculated percentage gets pushed over and your attempted payment is rejected because it exceed your balance by whatever the surcharge percentage is.

    • correction

many restaurants you go to don't allow split bills

so just know your balance and allow for surcharge before paying… if you got small amounts, use it up at fast food joints they are happen to split it up… I got digital and physical cards that have like 10c , 20c no issues

      • Where have you split out of interest? I am aware of Nandos, Sushihub, Subway, Grill'd and GYG

        • Maccas, HJs some local cafes and restaurants….

But only if they know how to do it

One of the subways I know swear they can't do card and card only card and cash.

          • @Poor Ass: This is what they just said at my local maccas. What did you say in response? Had a couple under $1 cards I wanted to use to buy soft serve but they said had to partly pay with cash.

            • @tajid: My experience with maccas and hj is everynow and then the system let's you do multiple cards and sometimes only card and cash

So for me if multiple cards work one time, you might not be able to be next time. But eventually you can. At first I thought they were just trying to get rid of me but they were telling the truth

    • And when the rejection happens, you don't know if it's because the restaurant doesn't accept this card to start with or if it's because of the 1.5% surcharge or because you selected Savings instead of something else, so you try and try again and keep failing…

      • Usually restaurant don't accept

You just use another card then

I've accidentally press cheque instead of savings on the physical card and put in pin still works. If you put in the wrong pin for savings it will tell you

  • bought but slow delivery….. they must be queuing up

  • +2

Annoying that this is offered the day after the Woolworths promotion ended.

I would have preferred the digital version. The physical cards are a pain as they require swipe, which some locations don't have.

  • I just bought and received GC pretty much straight away. Not a bad deal with V day coming up. Thanks OP!

  • Crypto.com card cashback not awarded on purchase of this FYI

  • Anyone has issue in adding the digital card in the apple wallet? This is my first time to buy/use it, I tried several times but unable to add it into the apple wallet

    • +1

I am having the same issue. Been trying to resolve it for the past hour. When I click on 'Add Card to Wallet' from the MyPrepaidCentre website, it asks me to enter my phone number. I get a link for an app which is PrePaidCentER (blackhawk is the developer).
When I open the app, the instructions are:
      1. Visit the website where you activated the virtual card, and select the Add to Wallet button to add to your digital wallet.
      2. Open digital wallet to access and spend your card.

Note, there are no buttons on this app at all.

When I go back to the website and click "Add Card to Wallet", I'm back to my previous step.

      Anyone know what I'm missing?

The customer service rep knows nothing.

      • Try get card info from website and manually enter the info into Apple pay.
        Hope it's helpful.

        • And make sure you keep your own balance records, to avoid using the site as much as possible.

        • +2

Thanks, I'm using google pay but it worked when I entered details manually

          • @excusemesir: Had the same issue. Absolute pain dealing with that app. Had to resort to adding it manually like you said to Google wallet.

  • How long does it take for the digital card to arrive?

    • Seconds
