I bought an I7 32GB ram with similar specs via eBay Plus and 17% Code at the end after discount for $522.07 delivered. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/185624072118

    • Latitude 7490 \ vs Latitue 7400.

      • Both look 8th Gen.

    • +1

Hmm i7-8650U and i5-8365U are both 4c8t but the i5 is much newer (20 months). They perform almost equally, with the i5 actually edging out in single core performance.

~$150 more for 24GB more ram and double the SSD + touchscreen seems worth it though?

  • +2

If anyone is interested it is 7390, then 7490 then came 7400 (obviously they can't go 7590 for some reason).

FYI, the first digit refers to 7xxx series. the second digit refers to screen size, i.e. 14" in this case, the third digit refers to generation, 9 introduced in 2018, 0 introducted in 2019, the fourth digit refers to CPU manufacturer, 0 refers to Intel, 5 refers to AMD.

      Here is Latitude 7530.

    • I needed min. internal Ram 32GB for my cybersecurity studies.

      • Your friend Google says 32gb max

      • Why so much?

        • Need it for my Cybersecurity 4 study. I will find out why is much soon… It was a requirement.

  • Any idea how long the unit runs on battery? Description says “targeting 24 hours battery life” whatever that means..

    • +4

When it was new and battery health is good, it'll last 15 hours according to PCmag
and 10 hours according to Notebookcheck with a web surfing simulation test at 100% display brightness.

You should be able to source a spare battery from eBay or aliexpress, Dell Latitude parts are relatively easy to find.

      • Thanks

  • I have a dell Precision M4400. I like to tinker around with it sometimes and i love the keyboard but i would not have it as my regular laptop. will this be similar experience. Also where do u guys get upgraded hardware( CPU, wifi card) and driver updates.

    • You won't be able to upgrade the CPU in the 7400 Dell, like 99% of laptops. You can add more memory as only one of the two SODIMM memory slots are populated in this model on offer. 8GB ram upgrades, which I will do to mine when I get it, are around $40.00, best do it now while the ram is available. The Wifi card that is in this 7400 dell will be fine for large file transfers, or viewing HD video. If you really want to upgrade the wifi card in the 7400 then get this - https://www.amazon.com.au/OKN-AX210NGW-Bluetooth-Wireless-Ul… . If you don't like your Precision M4400 then kick it down the road and get something you do like. Read many reviews of something that interests you, that will help you find the laptop you do like.

Driver updates can be downloaded from Dell or you could use https://www.snappy-driver-installer.org/ . Snappy is a solid way to install drivers, direct from Dell is the safest way to get the drivers from this link - https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-au/product-support/prod…

Here is a solid review and breakdown of the Dell 7400 - https://laptopmedia.com/review/dell-latitude-14-7400-review-…

      • Thanks for your detailed response. Its a shame that laptop cpu are ni longer upgradeable. My Dell Precision m4400 comes with a dual core and i have been on the lookout for a quad core cpu for decent price to upgrade. Also do u know if the wifi card you mentioned will work on my dell M4400? From what i can see my wifi card has 3 antenna thung where this one has 2.

Received mine today. The condition of the laptop is very clean and very much like new, someone not knowing would say it is a new item. Fast and snappy. Windows 11 has been set back to the out-of-the-box experience. Very solid deal with the eBay coupon. Shame they are OOS now. And a 1 Year warranty! Very nice.

The condition of this unit looks like it wasn't used.
