Anyone Else Got Declined Citi Prestige Credit Card?

Hi Bargainers,

Just wondering if anyone experienced the same declined from Citibank?
Full time, 800+ credit score, mortgage (partner contribute half) etc etc.

Thanks,

Full time, 800+ credit score, mortgage ( partner contribute half) etc etc.

    This tells us S.F.A.

I find it depends. I've been rejected once or twice for low end cards; but been easily approved on high end ones…

  • I have been rejected few times for Westpac, HSBC, ANZ but everytime I speak with the Customer service I have been able to get the card.
Its usually some minor details cos of which the system auto rejects. Probably if you are too keen speak with them on 13 24 84.

    • Thank you Ehty, all they said is rejected and because not meeting their guidelines and not really willing to help.

I missed to include that I called few times, till I landed on a helpful agent!

    Haha. Lucky you!

  • I am 0/2 with Citi (from a few years ago) so just gave up on their CC deals. Had no issues with any other cards incl a black card from just about every Big 4 bank.

  • Just cancelled mine last year. Benefits were reduced by a fair bit. Can't justify holding it. But there was a 240k bonus when i signed up so that was great.

    • For me it's been the best.
No fee for life so any benefit is extra.

      • You have the Prestige card with no fee for life? Or the Premier/Signature?

  • Username checks out.
    How bigs the mortgage,
    what's your income,
how many cards do you have
how many cards have you closed in the last year

Literally how long is a piece of string.
This is coming from someone who's never been rejected by Citi.

Recently applied for it and got approved. Already had a citi rewards card as well.

    Might have more luck here

    • I thought you were joking….

      • Heard an ad on the radio then read this post….

        • LOL you listen to the radio.

Anyways rapid rise in property prices has a few benefits for the government. More stamp duty, more land tax and making it more enticing for people to reverse mortgage.

On reverse mortgages people need to tell me why buy a home and pay P&I then having to reverse mortgage and end up with zero at the end. Explains why they don't want you to have lifetime like leases because the government will lose out on a lot of money.

          • @netjock:

LOL you listen to the radio.

I think they used to advertise solely in the newspaper classifieds.

… they paid me for copy right.

Lol I just got approved for 35k
Meanwhile St George knocked me back for 6k last year

    • I think this is pretty weird. I may contact AFCA and see what they are going to say.

      • I apologise. It was citi premier not prestige. I didn't know about the prestige deal, otherwise would've gotten that instead

        • Either one is good deal. I was considering Amex as well. Should go for the Amex.

      • I may contact AFCA and see what they are going to say

What do you expected AFCA to do/say? Each bank has their own risk appetite so they can approve or decline whoever they want provided they do so within responsible lending rules

    • If you don't mind me asking, what is your income level to get a 35k limit?

  • Prestige used to have $150K minimum income test but recently dropped it I think - its not clear. Could that be the trap here?

    • Don't think so but that is where is not clear about.

      • They clearly have. Try submitting the form with <150000. It won't let you submit.

        • Last deal wasn't specified income requirements when you chat with online staff and called in.
The income requirements just added back.

  • St GEORGE is the PIT … Useless I had $ 200 K on Fixed Term with them …NO MORE Ahahahaha

  • I've heard Citi is iffy with approvals, but I've been approved for 3 in the last year (including the Prestige last week).

  • Got Citi Prestige approved recenty (applied due to 300K bonus), this is my first Citi credit card. Yes the application process was a bit 'unpolished' and subsequent email messages , confirmations etc were not of great quality (when compared to Amex process). Received a call from Citi later to check the 'previous address' and then it was AOK, eventhough I had 2 recent (within 3 months) hard credit checks from Amex (Platinum)

  • I've had citi cards in the past and they told me it didn't matter and that I'd still get the sign on bonus.

Thought i'd get rejected as I have a pretty substantial mortgage (>$2M) and other cards ($40K in limits) but was auto approved without needing to do anything.

Asked for minimum limit of $20K.
    Applied Thursday approved Tuesday.

    • Do you know if this is still the case? trying to get a Citi Premier Qantas from my Citi Rewards.

  • Approved in an hour of application. I’ve been declined by AMEX 3 times in 5 years I don’t know why so I don’t bother applying anymore.

  • have just been declined via email for the prestige CC even before I ended the call with the customer service for the application…. mortgage ft job having another cc with 15k limit….
