  • Does this mean citi to velocity is likely to have a bonus soon too?

  • Is virgin airlines int. business as good as qantas?

Do they also offer classic rewards flights?

    • +2
      1. Virgin‘s international routes are currently limited to short to medium-haul and use the same 737 aircraft as domestic routes, so basically no, it’s not. However…
      2. …they do have good value reward redemptions with Singapore Airlines, United, Etihad and Qatar.
    • +1

VA International J is the same as Domestic J as they only run 737-800 (and the Max to japan) so a 2-2 config with decent food and drink. worth noting that internationally there are no lounges available (no lounge in DPS, HND as examples)

if i were you i'd use the VFF points for Business rewards with their partners (etihad, qatar, singapore for example) because it isn't bad value.

      • Many thanks!

Is the business rewards with their partners reasonably priced? always interested in trying out singapore business class.

        • AU capital city to Singapore is around $220 or so in taxes for business. I think Europe can be around $500 one way.

          • @Autonomic: Return ADL to SIN is under $200 for taxes in business.

I booked return business last year, ADL to EUROPE and it was under $200 in taxes each way I think! I think its gone up.

Scoot flys return from Melbourne for $700, 8 hours isnt too bad :|

            • @[Deactivated]: Taxes are now almost $450 for ADL-SIN return in business. It was less than $200 before October '22.

        • Taxes on Singapore Airlines reward flights are actually very reasonable and I've found availability out of Australia to be quite good as well.

    20% for Platinum Card Holders

    • Damm, I downgraded my card to avoid fees!

  • Waiting for a 25%. Last offer I can see in my inbox was from August last year.

  • Its 20% for platinum charge

  • Is this targeted?

  • I just noticed this yesterday, and I am torn.

I have over 200,000 AMEX points, and I either transfer to Velocity for 260,000 or I transfer to Krisflyer.

I have a spare 136k Krisflyer, but they expire at the end of the year.

I noticed alot of flights to Singapore with award seating later this year, thats make makes Krisflyer so appealing.

But it annoys me they expire, and 200,000 to Krisflyer isn't a great conversion.

I am planning a trip to the USA in 2 years, but not sure if its easier to use Krisflyer or QFF pts?

I wanna cancel my AMEX card, so gotta make a choice.

    • Isn't Amex 2:1 for VFF?

      • My mistake,I dont know the rate.

I think Krisflyer is 2:1 from what I can see, I thought Velocity would be better.

Just found First class Sydney to Europe later this year, 282k points one way! I dont know how to use Velocity, I would like to see how much more pts it is for the same flights on Singapore!

I cant see first class on the same days through Velocity, only Business class for around 230k Velocity one way.

        • You can check here:

          https://www.singaporeair.com/saar5/pdf/ppsclub_krisflyer/cha…

It should only by 203k VFF first to Europe via SQ. Are you looking at the base fare or the extra to cover the taxes/surcharges?

          • @Autonomic: I was looking at Singapore in OCT - SYDNEY to FRANK - 288k points.

When I booked Paris for May, there now as First class but now there is First class available on my flight but it's 225k miles(advanage) from Singapore to paris. I booked 136k ADL - Sing - Paris Business.

I would be tempted to upgrade for 100k pts, just to fly first class.

I am looking on Velocity now, and OCT is 230k pts for business one way.

Are you sure you can find 203k VFF first class? That sounds really cheap, considering my Business through Singapore was 136k, like 8 months ago.

The 288k first return in OCT is Advantage. I cant see any savers available.

Im not a high flyer on velocity, or qff so I assume platinum get all the first class or I cant see if available?

            • @[Deactivated]: That's according to their redemption table:

              https://experience.velocityfrequentflyer.com/flying-status/u…

edit: SQ First class redemptions may not be available as a reward seat on VA.

              • @Autonomic: Yeah, I couldn't see anything but def showing on Krisflyer.

I couldn't find a single First class Saver on Krisflyer either. The lowest I saw was 288k return.

VFF seems very high tho, 230k one way vs I paid 136k krisflyer 1 way!

I wish krisflyer didnt expire, im a bit stuck what to do with these amex pts.

                • @[Deactivated]: One way to Europe via Australia in business is only 139k VFF.

                  • @Autonomic: I checked Adel to Paris and was 230k

You aren't getting velocity for 139k, i booked last year before the price rise and it cost me 236k Krisflyer pts return as saver return.

Vff isn't less than freakin Krisflyer lol

                    • @[Deactivated]: One way is 139k VFF. It's black and white in the award table. Are you talking about return? Tell me what date you're looking at.

Sometimes VFF is less than KF. ADL-SIN for example is 57k VFF one way for business or 68.5k KF.

                      • @Autonomic: Try finding one! Lol

I looked on VFF and the only flight I saw was 230k in October.

Singaporean says first class is 200k one way, I only found 288k.

I even looked on the same dates that krisflyer has availability and there's no availability on velocity so I don't know how people even finding them cheaper when I can't even see any available to begin with

                        • @[Deactivated]: I don't know what to tell you. The reward table for both VA and SQ are linked above. I've never seen a flight that differed from that.

                          • @Autonomic: Find me one now, I looked and no chance at all!

I couldn't find a single velocity business class flights under 230k pts this year lol

I was looking at OCT 2nd Adelaide to Singapore and returning around 16-18th Oct

                            • @[Deactivated]: Find me one that says 230k. Qatar shares the same redemption table and flights are 139k in business ADL-FRA via MEL and DOH. You can see this on 1/11/23 searching ADL-FRA.

                              • @Autonomic: My mate booked with Qatar 9 months ahead and he paid 330k return to Europe.

These tables seem very low, we spent months looking way ahead just as they're released.

                        • @[Deactivated]: You need to be looking for reward seats, not just paying for the cash fare with points.

  • Have never transfer Amex points before … Is 2 Amex points to 1 velocity point a good deal? I thought normally it's a 1:1 transfer? Is SQ a 1:1 or 1 Amex to 0.5 krisflyer?

    • It's a really bad return, I just checked and amex to qff is 1:1
You're better off sending to Qantas.

Velocity is a garbage return on amex pts.

      KRISFLYER is 2:1 amex too.

      • I reckon that 1:1 ratio is for UK not Australia.

      • Not all AMEX cards allow for the respective AMEX reward points to be converted in the QFF points.

        • I use to have a Platinum Explore, but I downgraded to save fees.

          Now I have to check.

  • After speaking to someone at American express, absolutely correct unless you have a specific Qantas credit card you can't transfer to Qantas.

I'm actually surprised it's so horrific to transfer points to krisflyer or velocity, basically 50% is pretty ridiculously low.

I think if you're gonna sell the points, or book for someone else Krisflyer better option as you get 1.5 Cent a point versus velocity you get probably around the same as Qantas being at 1 cent a point.

I'm desperately trying to look through velocity reward flights to see if there's anything that resembles close to what the table shows and I'm yet to find anything for business class

    • KF points are only valid for 3 years, rendering them less useful if you don't earn that much AMEX reward points.

      • Yeah, exactly.
