Storage keeps falling…pity no stock in officeworks…

Awesome. I paid $400 for for crucial but never arrived, this is better.

  • This or Sandisk Extreme Pro version?

    • +1

The Sandisk Extreme Pro is excellent, with this you'll be getting the same transfer speed and much better value (at the moment). This is actually a great deal!

      • At 2000MB/s the Sandisk Extreme Pro is almost twice as fast as the T7 Shield at 1050 MB/s. But more expensive, of course.

        • That 2000 MB/s speed is a bit deceptive as it's only achievable if your device has a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 port. This 2x2 standard is actually not common.

This SSD will operate at around half the advertised speeds on devices without USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 support. e.g. Macbook Pro M2 Max

Great to extend the storage of the 256 S23 (Ultra) with the lack of micro SD…
1TB on iPhone would be minuscule vs much cheaper 4.25+ TB on S23 ;)
    I got 2TB for $209 & works very fast on S23 Ultra 512GB. 56gb data with all 223mb messages with encryption via USB-C 3.2 cable complete 20% in 5', 50% in 9', 100% in 11' (363 apps, 178 videos 16GB , 1146 audio, 3213 images (from my Note 10+ transfer excluding the mSD)

If the total price is similar, I prefer 2x 2TB for offsite alternating backups. You get 2x cables & business continuity strategy :)

    • You use for backing up the phone?

  • This or 4TB SSD in enclosure? I've already got 2x enclosures.

    • Depends on your needs. 2.5" enclosure or NVMe? Cheaper or faster, what do you need?

      • Storing video files. Preferably just large cheap storage. What benefits would this provide over an NVMe in enclosure? Seems to be more expensive and slower

        • +1

As in, you have an NVMe enclosure already? If so probably just look out for good NVMe deals.

Decent branded enclosures cost more. Cheap ones, yeah, they are cheap and sometimes you get subpar cable. A lot of them have no thermal pads.

To get faster speed than you, you will need:

          • USB 3.2 gen 2x2 enclosure or Thunderbolt 3 or 4 enclosure. Neither of those is cheap.
          • T7 Shield has a sustained write of close to 1GB/s. Good luck finding one that does that in the price range.

Obviously, if you don't care about sustained write, then DIY solution could be cheaper.

    • USB C enclosures? Then go for this.

    • Stick to NVME given that the price of normal ssd and nvme is same per TB, better to go with the NVME.

  • Is it possible to buy this using shopback or cashrewards?

    • I think it's 0% with both for computers / hard drives and the best is 2% giftcards with shopback. Am I correct?

  • Thanks, got one :)

  • Got mine today. Doing a clone of 2.5TB and it’s writing at 120MB/s not bad from a 4TB (suspecting rotational)
