I love getting new wines into the warehouse. It's like opening a Christmas present for me. We've got one of our Queensland distributors over for dinner this evening with a butterflied leg of lamb on the weber charcoal bbq, served with a tomato salad and olive tapenade. This wine will nail that dish!

  • Can anyone recommend/vouch for?

I haven't had this particular variant, but I can vouch for the general quality of the wines from Bec Hardy. Yes - there are some we prefer over others, but we've been really happy with every bottle we've received to date, and there are another 18 bottles waiting for me to collect from the cellar door on Saturday :)

Thanks @psmedley - even I prefer some more than others! RD :-))

      Hi @mrwak - been posting for a while - you'll find commentary on previous offers -> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/212774/nodes
There's also lots of media/third party commentary on our website. Family been in the business 170 years, Bec for 20, me for 12, our principal brand for 40 years.

      Bec Hardy make great wines.

@DrRalph humbled given your knowledge and drinking. Thank you. Richard :-)

    • Yes, I can. I don't know about this current vintage, but I've had the 2019 Lakeside Cab Sauv (same label as pictured) and it is good. Their wines are generally in the range of good to very good. With these deals, the value is silly good, and you can't really go wrong.

      • Thanks @lbreav for the endorsement - cheers! RD :-)

      • @lbreav - sorry just realised wrong bottle image was uploaded - updated now - but wine released under the Bec Hardy 'Garden Series' label.

  • Are these wines any different from your normal Cab Sav?

    • +1

Yep absolutely. New vineyard, new vintage. Brand new release. Cheers! RD :-)

      @President Bartlett

      • Find the Lakeside Cab Sav on the lighter side for body, but very drinkable as a weekday quaffer.

How does this one compare to the Lakeside - lighter or heavier?

        • +1

@opposablethumbs Most certainly more fuller bodied than the Lakeside Cab Sav 2019 to which I think you are referring.
          Cheers!

  • Hi RD

Dad buys a few of your Cab Savs after i bought him a case for his birthday last year.

Feedback is good but he would love you to consider a different courier company for deliveries… He found his last case down by the road on top of his wheely bin…

    Cheers

    • I have never had a bad wine from Bec Hardy via Richard on this platform. All the wines I have drunk punch well above their weight and are bargains to enjoy.

However, I agree with Matt P, the courier company is dangerous, the driver left my case on the nature strip next to my next door children at play.

Hi @Madbro - if you have a preferred carrier always feel welcome to let us know at checkout and we'll ship with them. As with any large organisation, couriers and Australia Post are only as good as the weakest member of the team. CHeers! RD :-)

        • Hey Richard, how did the dinner go and more importantly, how was this wine?

          • @Madbro: This and the Langhorne Creek Shiraz are looking great. The latter reminded me I do that dark chocolate’Old Jamaica’. The Cabernet is terrific.
I love Cabernet- always have but I’m thrilled with what our (not so) new winemaker, Bec Swincer, is doing with our Shiraz lines. She’s good. Very good 👍
Hope you’re drinking well this weekend 😀
            RD :-)

            • @RD ADL: I tried to buy these wines but the link took me to another cab sav. That was not the problem, when I went to check out via PayPal (discount applied) it charged for postage. What can I do, Richard? I will have to double the metered fare methinks!

            • @RD ADL: I tried again and all is well.
              Cheers, Taxi

              • @Madbro: @Madbro Hi mate. good to hear you got it working. Don’t forget too, any preference on carrier, please do let us know! Cheers! RD :-)

                • @RD ADL: As long as they leave it outside my door, you can use the Pony Express! Not a lot to ask.

                  • @Madbro: And have you specified that on the order?

    • Hi @Matt P - we use three couriers from McLaren Vale - if your Dad has a preference he can feel very welcome to request his preferred carrier at checkout. Cheers! RD :-)

      • Thanks RD - good to know. He must have just lucked out getting the same one on the last 2 deliveries.

        • Mostly franchised so it’ll be his franchisee.
As I say, any preference, please let us know. Cheers! RD :-)
