Cheers, was starting to wonder what I was staying up at 2am for

    • Did you get the email saying "your order is under review"?

      • Just checked the status of mine, says ready to ship

        • +1

Lucky you. Mine got rejected due to mismatch name. Apparently the name on the order must match the name on the cc.

  • Good deal and thanks for sharing. But personally I won't buy it when they change the name to Lunar new year for some "unknown" reason. If they really care about multi-culture in Asian, they can easily know that white is the more used colour in Korea for the new year and cat is the animal of the year in Vietnam. These sets are using pure Chinese new year elements, such as Chinese character and rabbit, but just named Lunar new year.

That’s fair enough, but I wouldn’t take it too seriously. It’s a toy; cultural and historical accuracy have never been first and foremost. For instance Lego have been happy to portray their own Viking ancestry in Denmark with the stereotypical inaccuracies (horned helmets).
That said, I’m sure Lego will look at any changes in demand.

Yes, that's why I said it's a good deal at the beginning and upvote it first. Just little upset when they change the name by some "unknown" reason, which make you feel like something is stolen when only the name is changed. Thanks for the example and good for learn a new thing :)

Instead of downvote your post, may be let me try to explain. The multicultural means the majority so
      - for Lunar New Year name, as many countries celebrate the new year so it’s better call LNY instead of CNY
      - for the white colour, I believe only Korean love that but not with Chinese, Vietnamese or Cambodian, so the majorities win
      - for the Cat is the year in Vietnam, thank you as I am Viet too but i am fine in which they called the rabbit year as China and Korea used it as majority

Hope you understand my point and the way the world celebrates it

Thanks for not down vote first:)

Actually I'm not fully agree with your point, and my points are:
        1. the origin of most cultures in Asian is China, and each has different development, like colour, ways of celebration, animal of the year and so on, when you call it Lunar new year, but all your celebration are all Chinese elements, it will make people outside Asian easy to ignore other cultures' difference.
        2. From my point of view, multicultural is respect all culture, no matter how many people left from that culture or still following the custom from it.

    • tried so hard to upvote your post but guess people didn't think it is rational. I did a bit of research on my own, the Chinese New Year, and so-called Lunar New Year now, is following the Chinese Lunar Calendar, which some Asian countries use as a guide for their Lunar New Year celebration. I am not sure why this Lunar New Year term came up so frequently in the past 4-5 years, but it greatly influenced the public.

Thanks a lot for the upvote. It's just some political things, which is most some kind of de-sinicization. Actually I was fine with the change at the beginning, which is just a name change, but in the recent 1-2 years, when you found it's not just a change of name but some kind of de-sinicization, I feel upset and so I will, personally, insist to use Chinese New Year.

Hong Kong officially called it Lunar New Year. You can check the HK government public holiday website. And in cantonese community, people only called it “Lunar” NY in cantonese since the very beginning. So for us, its changing to “Chinese new year” only happens in recent years while China becoming “strong” and there are more and more immigrant coming from mainland china. Personally I dont think its a big of a deal. People should just use whichever term they used to when the grow up. And for company, its just marketing.

@nonoannie: So blame the British rule for watering down Chinese New Year? And more immigrants from the country which had it's territory taken over by invaders is now leading towards a wider use of the original term Chinese New Year. Sounds like a good thing. But geez didn't know things were such a touchy subject. I've never once heard a Chinese person (HK, Singaporean, Malaysian, etc.) Ever call it Lunar New Year. Sounds like a western world thing to me.

    • Thanks a loft for all the up vote and replies. When I post the comment I can see the vote will below 0, but I'm very glad that a lot of people also up vote my comment. As the deal is already out of stock, just let me finish the comment, and wish all have a nice day.

The Lunar New Year was introduced by a German missionary named Johann Adam Schall von Bell during the Qing dynasty and gradually spread to other Asian countries over time.

The celebration of Lunar New Year is one of "the Four Olds," which were prohibited during the Cultural Revolution in China. Because of this, people in China refer to the holiday as the Spring Festival.

In the past, the English translations of certain words were mainly based on Cantonese, possibly due to Hong Kong's influence. Examples include Dim Sum, Bok Choi, Wok, and Kung Hei Fat Choi. Therefore, the Hong Kong people translated the holiday as Lunar New Year, and it became widely known as such.

To my knowledge, British officials always use Lunar New Year instead of Chinese New Year, while private organizations tend to use Chinese New Year more often.

    • it's celebrating the lunar calendar, no?

      • +1

No, its not. CNY is based on lunisolar calendar.

        • -2

And the lunisolar calendar is based on the Solar and what calendar?
