Good speakers. I have the BTS version of this and they sound great. Does anyone know if you could get two sets and sync them up to all play together from the one Bluetooth source?

    • +8

Does the BTS version sound smooth like butter - like a criminal undercover?

      • Yes that's exactly how I'd describe it.

    • I have the blackpink version

  • +10

Really like my pair, and I'm fussy with audio. No they aren't really high end of course, but they sound a lot better than they should for this price

$5 flat rate is a good deal for shipping something so heavy. Also beats Amazon's flat rate of $5.99.

  • Any suggestions for attaching a subwoofer to these speakers?
    What's a good option?
    How would we connect one?

    • +1

There's different versions that have sub output.

    • +1

For PC? A 3.5mm Y-splitter did the trick for my setup. I'm no expert audiophile but I'm happy with the result.

    • These are more but have more options. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07B8VFBLN

  • This or audiengine a2

I listenend to a YouTube clip from this channel comparing them on my much larger tower speakers in the living room (had to listen to two different clips, no clip comparing them directly IIRC).

I much preferred the bigger, bassier sound out of the Edifiers, and have been very happy with them, but good idea to listen on some bigger speakers (or good headphones) to draw your own conclusions if you can. Both had strengths and weaknesses

    • +1

I had this speaker but sold them to get a pair of a2+.
The a2+ sounds much brighter than the Edifier but not as bassy.

  • Thank you. Its very good Bluetooth Studio Speakers.

  • Good computer speakers?

    • +1

That's what I use mine for, can't be beat if you can spare the room on your desk

I have 1855DB which, as far as I can tell, are practically identical functionally (has a few extra bells and whistles)
Mine are PC gaming speakers, music while WFH, and very occasionally movie watching speakers.
      I'm very happy with them

    • got this exact item from centrecom. I love them.

Cheers op! Was waiting for these to go back on sale :) Copped the brown wood finish

    $5 delivery to most areas

    Excluding metro Perth

NOTE: This remote postcode does not qualify for shipping discounts.

  • I have the BTS version. My only complaint is the top of the speaker is sloped so I can't sit things on top of my speakers. Even the remote just sides off.

    • I have a plush toy moose on top of my left one, stays there okay with the front hooves ever so sightly hanging over :P

On the flip side, other companies want to charge you for extra bits to angle the speakers at your ears. They are perfect for computer desk use, not as good for bookshelf/speaker stand

who else is still rocking their logitech speakers from 15 years ago?

    • +1

Or Boston Acoustics from 20? :oD

    • +1

This is a worthy upgrade but most likely won't last even close to that timeframe. Those old Logitech speakers were rock solid.

    • +1

      I'm still rocking my Z906 5.1 Logitech

    • +1

me too! Still using Z680 from circa 2003!! bought used like almost 10 years ago! lol

    • +2

      Hell Yeah! Logitech z5500

Altec Lansing from about 20 yrs ago

  • Are these any good for audio mixing, ie can you get a flat response?

    • I'd pay more and go for a decent studio monitor. They can usually be found pretty cheap second-hand (although not usually $120/pair!)

  • +2

These are good speakers but for some stupid reason (probably planned obsolescence) they don't have a fuse for the power supply. This means when the power goes on them they are dead. I have had one set of these (previous version) die on me this way and it was a real shame.

  • Good to pair with TV?

    • Also interested

    • Not as good as desk because they are angled up by default, but probably still a lot better than a similarly priced soundbar

  • can these connect to my desktop via cable? i dont think my pc has bluetooth

    • Yes, from memory they come with a 3.5mm jack to 2 RCA output cable

  • How's the Bluetooth latency on these?

  • +1

currently only $73.5 + shipping (free with onepass) at catch https://www.catch.com.au/product/edifier-r1700bt-bluetooth-b…
