    These American units are annoying.

40km/h typical range, About 99kg Weight load

I've got this scooter and happy to answer any Q's

    • What's the weight of this beast?

      • Google says 17kg. I haven't had any real issues carrying it around when folded, however I don't do this often (rarely)

    • How does it handle hills ?

      • +1

I'd say relatively well. I'm on the heavier side, about 90ish kg, and ride this with my backpack (which contains my bike lock) and it goes fine.

In saying that, I do ride hills (and everywhere) on Sport mode. I do notice it struggles more (and gets worse) as battery % drops but overall, I'd give it an 8/10 on hills.

        • That sounds good enough for me! Thanks!!!

      • +1

"ok" for smaller hills, if you have major hills to climb you will always want a dual motor as even the big single motor scooters struggle. Ironically the Gen 1 motor is slightly better on hills, but negligible.

They get worse as the battery is used up and the voltage drops.

    • Thanks for the offer :)
What is your use case and how happy are you with the scooter meeting that?

      • +2

I use it to get to work and back (and also when I need to run errands nearby home) and it works well.

Prior to this, I had the Segway Ninebot KickScooter F65 and I ended up selling that for this one. The main reason was due to the F65 having tubed tyres.

The F65 can carry a heavier load, however I had a friend who also had this model and when he got a flat tyre, changing the tubes was quite annoying. He ended up going to a bike store and getting them to do it for him. This happened on 2-3 occasions.

Anyway, the G30LP does not have tubed tyres.

The gel-filled tyres are great on these. I have clocked up almost 7000km on my G30LP and have never had a puncture (touch wood). A mate has one of the Aldi scooters and seems to get a flat almost every ride.

        • Probably had his PSI too low. Green slime helps and Armor Dilloz works best.

    • Im assuming this is the intl version, so does it come with an AU plug?

Also (to the wider audience) would it be better to buy the AU version and increase the speed limit, or simply get the intl version and be done with it?

The LP model is basically always 30kmh even from official places here in Oz, there might be some exceptions but I have never seen one.

Do keep in mind the LP is shorter, smaller and less range than the regular version.

There have been issues unlocking the very latest variation of controllers, I am not sure if that has been resolved yet.

As for buying AU we have two Segway Max and 1 of them had to be replaced twice, both times within 1-2 weeks, before we got a fully working one. Both well over 1000km now without issues. Pot luck really.

I got mine from HN during one of their sales. At least from my point of view, I'd rather get it from a physical store that I can return/exchange if there were any issues. In saying that, I've never dealt with HN exchanges, so who knows, but as per Pobman below, it's pot luck.

        • +1

Yeah ours were JB Hifi and they just exchanged them in store.

          • @Pobman: Did HN/JB sell the G30L (AU) or G30LP (global) version?

What cruise speed are you getting on flats and whats the minimum range when pushing it?

            • +1

@hyper4ctive: JB sold the none L version, HN only sold the L I believe. At 185cm the L version was just too small for me.

I don't record it anymore but my average range on the none L was 43.1km, worst I had was 36km… I was a good 110kg back then and range is very much dependent on your mass. Daughter gets over 80km on the none L.

The L version has a smaller battery so range will be less.

              • @Pobman: How far would you say is reasonably comfortable to go in one ride? Does the bumps etc just get annoying after a while?

                • +1

@zbys: Had no issues riding 40km at once personally. Bumps never bothered me on the Max, but they do many people. You can upgrade with suspension but I’d recommend just buying a scooter with suspension in the first place if that’s the case, as your probably end up with a better all round deal then.

        • How is the headlight at night? Doest it point down for walking speed or more straight for cruising? Would you feel safe riding without an additional light?

          • @hyper4ctive: Unfortunately, I haven't ridden it much at night to comment on the headlights, but the few times I have, the light has been pretty good. I'd say it points more straight rather than down; however, the light is pretty decent in terms of illuminating overall.

I felt safe the few times I used it BUT I also didn't go too fast

          • @hyper4ctive: headlight Average, it does not cast very far… I have O-Lights on all my scooters which are much better.

If it is ban in NSW … then how it is allowed to sell in NSW ? 😓

    • +2

It's not banned altogether. It's allowed on private property so it can be sold for use on private property.

    • Not illegal to own one. Its just illegal to ride in public (not enforced too much either). You can ride it legally on Private Property.

  • Is this the one that was supposed to be the International version of the Max G30?

    • Not really its just the Lite version, a little smaller in physical size and battery.

  • "Personal e-scooters remain illegal on NSW roads and road-related areas, including footpaths, shared paths and bicycle lanes. They can only be used on private property"

    • Yup

    • That's just silly. Nanny state.

    • I'm glad to see you're finally saying NSW and not the whole country. 👏👏

it is a shame they haven't still updated the laws. what more important problems could they possibly have to discuss and resolve?
