  • Can I book the hotels in Vietnam?

  • Thanks OP!

  • +3

Just a further note, must be PAY NOW, not pay later or reserve

    • +1

      Where does it say that?

  • @gotyourback quick question please?

presume multiple separate, clicked back thru SB, count for both the increased and Westpac cashback? And cheers for the deal, keeps me away from Cheddar for longer! :)

    • +1

That's correct mate, capped per transaction as opposed to per account. Glad you're enjoying!

      • Are you saying the Westpac is capped at $100 per transaction and we can do multiples to gain $100 each time?

eg $1000 to get $135+$100 westpac, then another $1000 to get $135+$100 Westpac.

Surely not? Your keeping me away from Amex and Qantas hotels if thats the case :)

        • +1

Believe it! Just make sure you're closing ShopBack and rinse and repeat the clickthrough between your bookings, but you can definitely redeem multiple times today :)

  • Question is .. how quickly can one obtain a Westpac card!!!

    • 5-7 days maybe, you can create your account quick but they have to make the card and post it to you.

      • U can see the card number in the app right away, if it's approved online (there might be case, it raised a flag for them and you need to do ID check at the branch)

        • Can you also see cvv no.?

          • @noodlefan: Yes. In fact for some sites, u have to check the dynamic CVV on the app, not sure why

            • @hanofee: Thanks, I'm gonna open one as well never bank with Westpac before.

  • so, the cashback is excluding GST, if I pay $550 for a hotel, there is 13.5% on $550/1.1 = $67.50. Bonus 10% for paying with Westpac card is 10% of $550/1.1 as well, so $50. Total cashback $117.5 on $550 spend, roughly 21.4%. Is this the way it's calculated?

    • That sounds about right to me, but just be sure to take a look at the booking when placing it to be aware of any fees that might be part of the booking, as it may not consider these part of the booking price.

even better than the cheddar deal.

Yeah SB keep it coming !. Cheddar support is already crap anyway

  • Does Westpac cashback apply to 0% category e.g. rail?

    • Unfortunately not, it'll only apply if the original Cashback tracks at more than $0, that's across all brands I'm afraid!

      • Thanks

Made a few booking through SB app this morning at 8am and using pay now option, still haven't been tracked.

    • +1

      Same here

    • Says up to 4 days for detection for Expedia…

  • Expedia are offering me a 10% Members discount for my reservation. Will this negate a Shopback Cashback?

    • It didn’t with mine, it’s just the coupons that negate cash back. Not standard discounts.

  • Hi OP. I made a booking this morning however hasnt received anything through Shopback to confirm? Cash rewards usually sends a confirmation immediately. (First time ive used shopback) is this normal?

    • Hey mate, yeah so tracking can take a short while to come through, Expedia say up to 4 days but in my experience it's taken roughly a day for mine to com through previously. If you're getting concerned, feel free to shoot me a DM and I can look into it come next week.

I was going to use this but Expedia's price is 12% higher than Booking.com plus you allegedly have to pay now rather than at the hotel. So Cheddar's Booking.com deal was actually better.

    • +1

I booked 7 different hotels yesterday through Expedia.
      I usually use booking.com
5 were the same price and 2 were cheaper by a few $

  • +1

found a hotel i was interested in and was ready to book. clicked through to expedia using the shopback link and the price of the property went up by $700. had the same experience on some of the hotels through booking.com the other day. this type of thing should be illegal.

  • Just want to put my experience out there. My first booking via Expedia today, they were the same or cheaper price than some other operators. Ended up with a 20% discount and the 23.5% on top of that. About $80 saved.

These deals are great, they don’t take too much extra work, and you can save $. About 12 bookings in the last few months, 8/12 were thru the reward operators. Just be mindful and do your homework.

  • Thanks op
Saved $520 on my accommodation for an upcoming trip to the USA.
All transactions tracking have shown up in shop back overnight.

  • -1

    Amazing deal thanks OP

  • Also received one email with all the tracking! Thanks OP

  • Not sure what's going on but I used a linked Westpac card and the amounts were lower than expected

Purchase price of $146.11 only had a rebate of $19.39

Purchase price of $618 only had a rebate of $79.38

Is the Westpac bonus added separately or is it meant to be in the above?

    • +1

Yes it tracked separately. Mine has 2 components, 1 showing as Westpac bonus

      • Did they all show up at the same time?

        • For this one yes. For the Amazon last week, shopback one tracked the next day while westpac bonus showing up just yesterday. So, I’d say keep an eye on it, maybe it’d update later

  • @gotyourback I paid for my reservation using Westpac card via Paypal. Will that void the bonus cashback?

    • Hey Yobi, unfortunately it looks like it might I'm afraid, from the Westpac Lounge T's and C's:

Purchases made using online payment methods such as PayPal, where ShopBack is not able to identify whether an eligible card was used at the merchant checkout, will not qualify for Westpac bonus Cashback (even where an eligible card is linked e.g. to the PayPal account).

      Sorry to disappoint mate!

  • @gotyourback
Hi, the normal 13.5% cashback is tracked successfully, however the 10% Westpac bonus is NOT tracked.
I also sent you a DM, please have a look.

    • +1

My 10% Westpac cashback also still isn't tracked FYI.

    • Did you get an update?

      • +1

        @arcticmonkey
        No luck 😔.
However, I have sent a DM to GYB, hopefully he could sort out for me.

  • +1

Hi @gotyourback. I have sent you a PM. I still haven’t got those 2 Expedia cashback transactions confirmed, which should have been confirmed in early January. I have sent all the proof of my stay, and have been waiting for the customer service to investigate for over a month. It seems that Expedia was having issues with ShopBack as I had another stay which was a week later but booked via Cashrewards has been confirmed in January. And I can see other people complaining about the same issue on Ozbargain, especially when the cashback is upsized. Even we have all the possible evidence to prove the payment and the stay, and actually the payment was deducted by Expedia itself. Is there any deadline for the Expedia cashback to be confirmed? Thanks!

    • Hey there, got your DM and about to take a look into this for you mate.

    • +1

My 10% upsize is not confirmed yet either but GYB said he would investigate. Seems like there's a common issue with Expedia tracking on SB for some users.

My Expedia orders through Cheddar processed with no issues.

      • +1

Yes, it is a common issue with Expedia for ShopBack. As I have been waiting for the cachback to be confirmed, I have searched on Ozbargain and found out that the same issue has been there for a long time. Again, all my Expedia cashback transactions via Cashrewards have been confirmed with no issue, including those upsized ones. I think that ShopBack should do something to fix this, or at least to display a warning message on the website. I don't know why ShopBack keeps having those Expedia upsized cashback promotions, which it knows are going to have issues with confirming and cause problems for its customers.
