Bunnings Price Beat: Now Includes Online Stores & Items Not Available for Same-Day Delivery/Collection @ Bunnings Warehouse

2970

Noticed that Bunnings had modified their 10% price beat policy to now include items that are not available for same-day delivery or collection, so the policy will now apply to many online stores. YMMV, but there is also no explicit wording against matching grey imports and overseas sellers.

Old Policy

Our lowest prices policy means that if you find a competitor's lower price (including GST and delivery charges) on the same in-stock item that's available for same-day delivery or collection, we'll beat it by 10%. This excludes trade quotes, stock liquidations, commercial quantities and Marketplace products.
Our Price Policy also applies online to products sold by Bunnings. Please contact Customer Support at [email protected] to process the price guarantee and place your order.

New Policy

Our lowest prices policy means that if you find a competitor's lower price (including GST and delivery charges) on the same in-stock item, we'll beat it by 10%. This excludes trade quotes, stock liquidations, commercial quantities, and items sold by other Bunnings Group businesses and Bunnings Marketplace products.
Our Price Policy also applies online to products sold by Bunnings. Please contact Customer Support at [email protected] to process the price guarantee and place your order.

Anyone see any cheap DJI Mavic 2 Zoom?

    • +11

You should become an intern @ bunnings and organise this deal for us.

      • +8

We should have one @Muzeeb in every major retailer.

    • +2

I remember this sweet deal… $250 printed from thin air.

    • +1

I remember feeling bad I missed out on this one. I still am so impressed that Bunnings honoured some of the orders. How excellent of them to do so :)

      • Back then I had OzB app but never used it, now you addicted lol

        • Lol I've been using OzB every day since back then. 2019 was around the time I started my OzB addiction though ahahah

  • +4

You should include this in your post

Our Price Policy also applies online to products sold by Bunnings. Please contact Customer Support at [email protected] to process the price guarantee and place your order.

If they actually respond is another matter

      • +18

This. Tried to price beat via their customer service 'recently', sent them 3 emails over a week. Of course the price beat wasn't available for long and I emailed after 2 weeks to say thanks for not responding. They emailed me back after a month apologising and said they'd still offer the price beat, told me to fill in my details and it's been another 2 weeks since. Waste of time.

        • Same. Been waiting for a reply for 2 weeks.

    • +2

Who negged? Literally this info wasn't on the post. And I think it's important info that needed to be in the post.

  • Is this a deal? See this

    Sure is! well noticed.

  • +30

Looking forward to my local Bunnings finding every excuse under the sun to refuse my request :’)

    • +5

Bunnings Price policy doesn't have a lot of detail, not as much as the Officeworks price policy. Maybe that way the left too many windows open to say " But" "Unfortunately" "Sorry we can't"

    • +3

The same at my local Officeworks stores.

  • +48

Not related to the deal, but Bunnings really, really need to improve their website and especially search engine. It's genuinely an early 2000s experience and that isn't a compliment.

    • +11

They changed it a while ago.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse than the original one, they proved me wrong.

      • Lol I think it got a bit faster after the change. But it's still slow AF

        • +4

Can’t even use gift cards online… it’s ancient tech

        • +1

I try to use their website when in the store and it's so slow. One time I was trying to find something and was trying to show the guy what I was after. Tried to load the website and it just wouldn't load at all. Bunnings guy tried to blame the wifi and wouldn't admit that their site just sucks.

    • Retro!

    • +2

Bunning's website should be classed as a deliberately structured form of mental and emotional torture like thumb screws and waterboarding.
It's impossible to believe it was created accidentally as anyone from Bunnings who uses their own site would be able to see how frustrating it is to use.

      • +1

Agree! I can only think the plan is to force you into the store so you wander aimlessly, buying various things you didn't go there for. And in my experience, the one thing you did go there for is out of stock, despite being in stock on the website…

        • +1

Funny enough, the "Bunnings out of Stock" problem worked in my favour. One day I looked at "Bun's" website for a cordless whipper-snipper which stated it was there at my local. I arrived and it wasn't. Got home very p*ssed-off. I then rang and asked to speak to the manager so as to explain a problem "Buns" had. Spoke to her and she sent me the most expensive model with a 5Ah battery delivered for free.
NB I was supposed to be charged the same price as the cheapest but since the delivery couldn't be sent without a receipt I got it for free. (They couldn't get hold of me to use my credit details. So receipt was made out as zero price)

    • What are these problems you speak of. Sorry we hit a snag comes up real quick every time for me.

    • Just use google to search Bunnings. Their own search has always been a joke.

  • +16

Had nothing but grief trying to claim this in store. Even when I have all my ducks in a row and all the documentation to prove it. Most of the staff are not actually educated on the policy at all, so they will argue black and blue even when in the wrong.

    • +2

Exactly my experience. Tried to prove my point, bought at their RRP, went home emailed screens of competitor pricing to head office, gotten a response saying I should be able to get a price beat, went back to the store, tried to get difference and the store refused saying it's now no longer at that price on competitor website. Officeworks is no exception.

      • Did exactly the same to me. In store they gave me some bullshit line about "not price matching stores from other states" (no mention of that AT ALL in the policy, straight up concocted on the spot). Stalled until Bunnings price matched in their internal system. Ticket on shelf AND the price on the website were still higher.

    • +2

I actually enjoy the "discussions" I've had with staff about price matches. For a while a local supplier was $2 cheaper than Bunnies on a $800 air con which we were buying 3 of. They tried everything to back out incl trade quantities but I held firm while politely quoting their policy back to them and had a win.
Then 2 weeks later repeated the process with same result for a friend. Was surprised they hadn't adjusted the price in the interim.
One funny moment was when they said I should use my powerpass to save 3% I think rather than the 10% pricebeat!

      • i've had the same experience with AC unit price beats. they always resist, but eventually i snooker them and they give the discount haha

  • Aren’t all Bunnings products overseas grey imports ?

    • +4

Yeah I thought most items are their own brand or specially designed for Bunnings..
everything is inferior.. most of my purchases end up becoming returns after a few months..

  • +2

i think the "same in-stock item that's available for same-day delivery or collection" makes sfa difference, but they explicitly exclude price-matching themselves now

sounds like a downgrade to me

  • +19

Yeah nah Bunnings, you have different product codes for the same product so you don't have to match.

  • +1

Does bunnings have IT team? Or they outsourced for others? Their search engine looked like quite outdated.

    • They have a hugeee technology team ! Lookup on itnews and LinkedIn

  • +9

Its monopoly now with Bunnings .. no more Masters and Mitre10 / small hardware stores getting closed, literally they charge skyrocketed high prices..

    • -6

Just keep returning once you have used tools a couple of times

      • +9

Why are some Aussies so selfish? Doing this effectively means they put prices up for the entire population to compensate

        • +1

Not to mention the sheer waste of time.

  • +2

I don't know if it's the policy or the rep wasn't having it, this was like 1 year ago. I tried to price beat a set of screws from Mitre10 (in-stock), same brand, model, size etc….. At the time it was like $30 from mitre 10 and bunnings was like 31 I think and I am like, they will bring it down to $27 or so…. The rep said something like "nope, can't do it, needs to be the same" and I disputed it is the same. But still said no.

Was I in the wrong? I thought it was a simple price beat

  • +5

    Press X for doubt

  • +15

This has become a bit of a rant sesh. Nothing beats my google home price match refusal. Same model number, same state, same everything except the stock photo on Bunnings website didn't have great lighting. Bunnings staff refused price match on the grounds that it was a different colour item, even though google only made it in one colour at the time….

  • +2

If only they'd price beat their own stores, from one store with to the other. Or at least price match?

  • +6

Ive found price beat works but you may have to spend half a day visiting 4 or 5 stores especially with power tools. Most tool shop .anager will take great delight in telling you why they wont beat the price. When you win however you usually win big. Eg dewalt flexvolt batteries 260 down to 140 with price beat. You then buy 4 and you have a huge win.

    • +1

And I thought I did well getting the price match on a can of wd40 that was on sale at repco 😂

    • The last price beat I think I had was on a Google Nest Hub which went pretty smoothly. I remember they'd already adjusted the price of the charcoal one to match competitors but not the chalk so asked for that, showed em the other price (officeworks I think) and they beat it as you'd expect it should go.

Guess price beats against Officeworks aren't going to work any more with the new "items sold by other Bunnings Group businesses" clause.

      • +1

I wouldn't consider officeworks part of bunnings group.

But tool kit depot and beaumont tiles are, at least as far as I can tell from the wesfarmers annual report.

        • Hopefully they don't either.. here's the full list
I guess according to that, not Bunnings group. I just assumed they meant all Wesfarmers businesses.

          • +1

@bamzero: From what I heard Bunnings considers other wesfarmes businesses such as Officeworks, Kmart, and Target as competitors.

  • +1

thumbnail looks like she's robbing the store with a gun

  • +1

Dealing with the zombies in bunnings isn't really worth the trouble… I've fine it a few times but they mostly don't want to do it.

  • Does this include products from Amazon US sold via Amazon AU?

  • +1

What group is Bunnings part of?

Wesfarmers group of businesses include Coles, Bunnings, discount department stores Kmart and Target, Officeworks.

So i guess if the staff are knowledgeable enough, then you cannot price match these stores.

    • +1

I think bunnings group is currently bunnings, tool kit depot and beamont tiles. In their annual report that is what the bunnings group director seems to be accountable for.

  • +1

I tried to price match an A/C yesterday. They said they couldn't do it because the A/C was a 'special order' at Bunnings.

It also seems to me that the new policy is a downgrade? It now excludes "collection". So if you try to price match a product that doesn't have free shipping, but does have free collection, it won't work anymore.

    • -1

Where does it state it now excludes collection. I don't see that states anywhere in the policy wording.

And the old policy clearly states price beat on stocked items so special orders don't apply.

It seams to me you don't understand how to read and interpret the policy.

      • No need to get rude :)

        1. Since the word 'collection' is removed in the new policy, that's how I read it. But I see now that you can interpret it differently as well. It would be great if the policy was a bit more detailed.

        2. I interpreted it as the item has to be in stock at the competitor, not at Bunnings. I might be wrong, again it would be great to have more detail. The Bunnings manager framed it as "a special order is basically a trade quote and those are excluded from the policy"

  • +2

Somewhat outside the scope of the topic but has anyone noticed that Bunnings has far less staff with experience and instead they seem to be employing 18 year old, pretty girls who haven’t got the slightest clue about tools or any DIY projects?

    • -4

there's a reason for going to Bunnings - do they wear those red tops - 'Lady in Red' ?

if I recall a previous time a helpful female with muticoloured hair was probably batting for the other team - but hey Bunnings also attracts DIY 'sisters doin' it for themselves' - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5mcaq9FaxQ

  • +1

I use the Bunnings price beat almost every time I shop at bunnings. I do a quick web check before I head to the counter, find the lowest price and go straight to the returns counter and ask for the Brice beat. I get questioned every time, when questioned I showed them there own policy wording and tell them the can't legal refuse. Only once was questioned further and on this occasion asked for the manager, had the manager read the policy and granted the price beat. This new policy wording will only increase the savings I make at bunnings. Thanks Child, you're a good man for spotting this.

    • +1

You said policy and legal in the same sentence

      • Thanks for nit picking King Steuart, it was obviously meant to be legally.

      • Not so sharp-eyed. You missed their use of "there" in the same sentence, and "the" instead of "they". ;)

        • Wasn't looking to nitpick grammar

  • +1

hang where in this policy does it state that it will match online retailers?

  • +1

Good luck in finding the same size in anything with weight or volume. My experience in trying to beat a price on a fertiliser bottle was so unpleasant that I don't get bothered anymore

  • huh - Bunnings does delivery ? How much does that cost ?

NVM - found it - $10 for this to me - https://www.bunnings.com.au/osram-15w-mini-warm-white-cfl-de… - making $20 become $30 - meh, yeah nah from me

  • so anyone think it'll work with eBay stores

    • price beat policies usually only claim to beat bricks and mortar stores - not online only Amazon/Weibo Chinese free shipping providers

  • Would this work on a swap and go bottle of gas?

  • Has anyone tried a price beat against Amazon Au?

    • +1

in person yes. they were resistant, but I showed them that the item had free delivery even for non-prime members and they eventually caved. the key is perseverence

  • +1

Other thing to watch out with Bunnings is for many things like power tools Bunnings have their own part numbers as they are such a large retailer. So when trying to price match they will just compare part numbers and tell you that they are different.
I managed to get over a 50 percent discount on a Makita saw skin once when Bunnings accidentally advertised it with the normal Makita part number rather than their own custom makita part number …

    • yes, they use that to try and avoid honouring the price beat

    • yeah that's a constant scapegoat for them. but the item i tried and eventually succeeded in matching had an extra /L at the end but they didn't seem to mind.

the staff i spoke to said they were aware recently their internal memo on how to apply the price policy changed to allow tools and equipment with slightly different model numbers where the items themselves are identical. would be curious to see how others go

  • +5

    Hey team, just reflecting and sharing my experience testing the waters with this updated policy;

Many staff and, I dont doubt, many stores are still not across the change.
It was a huge uphill battle with the staff at my local Bunnings. When I got denied because the cheaper store didn't have same day collection, I had to keep gently probing 'where on your website' it said this and had to explain to them I was aware that the policy recently changed. The staff had to check for themselves their own internal guide that 'available for same day collection' was now removed from their terms. The 3-4 staff that assisted me were more fixated on their 'memory and experience' than anything else, but I got there.

The staff then found a bit in their internal memo (updated 01/03/2023) that talked about 'direct delivery' then used this to interpret that this meant the same thing as 'same day delivery'. I furrowed my eyebrow and gently probed a little further before they consulted their manager and agreed to do the price beat.

This is a huge change no matter what way you look at it, I hope it lasts. I can say for sure the item I bought Bunnings didn't make much retailer markup profit on.
It truly widens the available stores to compare from maybe 4-5 to almost limitless.

  • As someone else mentioned - special order items (most of the bigger Aircon units) won't be price beat.

I asked the manager and he said he can price match, but can't do the extra 10% off.
I ended up getting the 10% off when a different staff member processed the sale but that was just luck and not approved by the manager.

    • I have not found that to be the case. I have done it twice with MHI air cons. one was a 7.1kW reverse cycle

      • That’s awesome. I guess it’s up to the manager. I tried two shops and both had no idea and called around and eventually said no.

Definitely worth asking even if they say no.

Hope you got your MHI cashbacks too ;)

        • +1

I did get the cashbacks. note that the price beat was requested through email and there was a bit of back and forth, they like to make you work for it though, often challenging SKU codes and such

  • How does work with delivery fees?

For example I found item XYZ for $2000 at competitor who charges $79 delivery.

Bunnings have said they will take 10% off the $2079 but they then add their delivery fee of $150.(large item).

If they're matching like for like, shouldn't they be either including their delivery fee in the price beat, or beating the competitor price of $2000 without delivery fee?

  • Does the price beat apply to more than one item? Struggling with online "support" too, so frustrating
