I would like to install this on my lounge room window.

  • Who wouldn't love the idea of being able to create an instant party atmosphere in any room? I don't get why anyone would wonder about this….

    Thats the normal price.
I asked the lady she said its been that price as long as she remembers.
Even the white price tag says $10

    • Price tag I saw when at Rhodes was yellow and said 'Clearance $19'
      Definitely not the normal price.

Review from a client (see below):
Also FYI, these may be smaller than what you are expecting

  • One of the $10 ring lights is arguably more useful. And was surprised to find out when I got mine that it has a gimmicky rotating colour mode with multiple colours rotating around in a chasing sequence. Kinda cool but pointless.

rotating colour mode with multiple colours rotating around in a chasing sequence. Kinda cool but pointless

Well it is a Multicoloured LED Fireworks Light. So its kinda the point.

One of the $10 ring lights is arguably more useful.

Clearly that is what you are after. A ring light. Which this. Is not it.

      • +1

        wat

        • i think they meant to end with "Which this is not." or something along those lines lol

          • @ULT: But the whole comment is comedically flawed, quoted out of order and misunderstood, they're telling them to get the thing they already have and are talking about

        • TL;DR Julz was after a ring light. Decided to rubbish this thing because its not a ring light.

          • +1

@xoom: Julz has a ring light, gimmicky rotating colour mode is talking about the ring light

    Some feedback from Cheapies

Purchased one of these when they were $40. I liked it and thought it was pretty cool, so purchased another 2 when it went on clearance for $30. I think the price is worth it at the original price tag so this deal is great! Pretty cool effects. I highly recommend them if you are into lighting. Also FYI, these may be smaller than what you are expecting.

By the three contacts (+ data -) and individual addressability, it looks like something along the lines of WS2812. Would be a steal just to strip down to it's components.

Has anyone found that the doublesided on these is totally useless and just falls off despite cleaning the wall with isopropyl first? I will probably have to get some 3M VHB to hold it up.

For anyone wanting to wire this to an ESP32 or ESP8266 and program via ESPHOME this post is for you.
Note: The first 36 leds are the lead in, then all the fire works explosion LEDs are strings of 14 LEDs in parallel. (Without significant rewiring) you can not individually address each LED in the explosion, just each LED from the centre on each string.

The pinout starting from the arrow is:
    +5VDC
    Data
    0VDC

    ESPHOME Config:
    light:
    - platform: neopixelbus
    type: GRB
    variant: SK6812
    method: ESP8266_DMA
    pin: GPIO3
    num_leds: 50
    name: "TestStrip"
    id: lamp5
    effects:
    - addressable_rainbow:
    name: Rainbow
    speed: 6
    width: 50
    - strobe:
    - flicker:
    - addressable_color_wipe:
    - addressable_scan:
    - addressable_random_twinkle:
    - random

Please let me know how you go.

Edit: (Still the last post) Be careful with max brightness levels depending on your PSU. I haven't done the Math yet to work out the limit, but the Wemos D1 Mini with a 5V 3A PSU ran out of power when I put all the LEDs on full brightness.

  • Plenty of stock in Toowong. Picked one up today. Thanks!
