What is Reward Gateway?

Reward Gateway is an employee program that gives you access to discounted eGift cards and cashback across a large range of retailers.

How do I access Reward Gateway?

Your employer needs to be subscribed to this program before you can apply to access the program. Once you are given access, you can log into Reward Gateway through:

  • The dedicated website for your company, or
  • The SmartSpending app on iOS/Android.

What is the transaction fee?

Transaction fees will vary depending on the type of card used to complete the transaction. The feedback I have been given by their support team is as follows:

  • MasterCard or Visa debit card: 0%
  • Standard MasterCard or Visa credit card: 0%
  • Premium / Platinum MasterCard or Visa credit card: 0.5%
  • Standard AMEX card: 1.5%
  • Premium AMEX card: 3%

Can I use prepaid gift cards (e.g. Vanilla Visa gift cards, Coles Mastercard gift cards, OnlyONE Visa gift cards) as a payment method?

Generally, no.

Reward Gateway requires all debit, credit and prepaid cards to support 3D Secure. Prepaid gift cards do not support 3D Secure, so they should be blocked by the payment processor.

  • Damn! I've been on the hunt for discounted BCF or Macpac GC however doesn't look like I am able to join up.
If anyone could help, please let me know!

An OP for a recent Reward Gateway deal said this:

API Lifestyle & Leisure offer casual memberships for $10 per month, and is available to anyone.

That could be an option for you? Keep in mind I have not verifed myself whether this membership can access Reward Gateway, but I'm sure someone else can vouch for this.

Btw, Reward Gateway does not sell Macpac gift cards.

Alternatively, is the TCN HIM gift card of much interest to you? Those are 10% off at Woolworths at the moment and they feature both BCF and Macpac.

      • +2

I'm an API member - just looking now - yep temp 5% off Woolworths, 6% BigW, 15% off BCF, 10% off Kogan, 15% SCA

        • Is the extra discount also applicable for the Rebel gift cards? Thanks!

          • @bleemo: oh right so it looks like when you click through API, it takes you to the Reward Gateway website anyway

          • +1

@bleemo: On API Rebel is currently 15% (for 2 more days it says) - normally 10%

          • +1

@bleemo: Pretty sure the gift cards are interchangeable across the Super Retail Group so any gift card from BCF, SCA, Rebel or Macpac will work.

(I haven't actually purchased but tested by applying credit from a Rebel card to an SCA order once)

        Just to confirm,

I sign up to API for a month, and that gains me access to Reward Gateway? Does it do this on the same day?

        Is that right?

        • +1

Your question is probably better directed to the commenter above, as I do not access Reward Gateway through API.

        • Also interested in knowing this :)

          • +1

@spook290: I've applied for API, but I think they say up to 48hrs to get it approved. Seems like a manual process on their end. I applied maybe 3 hours ago and I have heard nothing since, so I assume I will be waiting…

Once you sign up for API, I believe you'll get some logon details or you can set it up. You then click through the API website (LOGIN button) which takes you to the reward gateway website.

So at the end of the day you're going through Reward Gateway and API is sort of like your "employer" if that makes sense.

      • I bought 2xTCN HIM for rebel. Now kicking myself for missing out 10% T_T

If you have a bank account with Macquarie they have 5% BCF discount cards available to members.

      • Just checked mine, from April 22'

        Expires in April 2121…😂

  • nice!! trime to stock up!

My employer has partnered up with RG and it's really beneficial for almost all retail outlets/brands of daily shopping!
The monthly gross benefit is effective given the current interest rates situation tbh.

    • +2

current interest rate situation is great. getting more interest income for my savings.

      • +1

that's another way to look at it. haha

        • +1

i understand peoples frustration. i work in the area but what i dont understand is:
          1. interest rates are just returning to their normal/average rate. a cash rate of 0% was unheard of. (see exhibit A https://www.rba.gov.au/statistics/cash-rate/)
          2. when you double money supply in a 2 year period (and QE for 10+ years), you will have inflation/possible hyperinflation (see exhibit B https://tradingeconomics.com/australia/money-supply-m1 - please click on 5 year period, and then 25year period to give you a nice indication of fiat money working best)
          3. only 35% of people in Australia have a mortgage on their property (and even slightly less have an actual loan on their property). higher interest rates are actually helping MORE people than hurting. (the media just doing what they are doing)

          • @cumova: 30% of houses were also reported as rented according to that consensus, with no additional data to state if they were owned outright or if they were under a mortgage which their went would be going towards

    • Yep my employer uses this too. Absolutely love it.

  • How to know my employer is subscribed for this?

    • +3

      Ask your employer

    • You can also check your employer's reward/employee perks intranet page to see if you have access.

  • Can someone tell me what value Rebel gift cards you can get are? Looking at getting a bike, and there's a max of 3 gift cards per order.

  • Employee appreciation day? Don’t tell me that those suckers are now even more expensive…

  • Woolies is usually at 4%, now 5%. meaning invest $200 into it only yield another $2 discount on top…

    • +1

Don't worry, they've increased prices at least 25% to cover that extra 1% discount.

  • Very good

  • Just bought $500 woolies card this week at 4%..guess I'll buy another one! Thx op

    • Physical or egift?

  • They recently started to add surcharge. Though unfortunate, the discounts are still good in the long run.

    • +1

MasterCard or Visa debit card: 0%
Standard MasterCard or Visa credit card: 0%

I think debit cards would be exempted from payment surcharge, but yes a little annoying.

      • Oh cool. Thanks for sharing that. Let me try with a debit card next time.

    • I got charged no visa credit card fee.

      • Don’t worry, your nothing will be refunded
