SRAM RED Etap AXS 2X HRD Centerlock Upgrade Kit $3,236 Shipped @ Pushys

90

Posting out of pure jealousy as I cannot afford to upgrade to this groupset myself. A good deal if you have deep pockets. Looks like there is a good discount across a few of the SRAM range including Red and NX.

Electronic shifting has nothing to do with assisted pedalling.

      • Assisted shifting?

  • Think will have to make do with my $2400 canondale synapse with 105 hydraulics.

Don't be jealous, there are plenty of other groupsets which offer very similar experience.
I don't want to start a holywar, but I personally think that mechanical 1x is great. IMHO there are only two benefits of electronic and that's no need to run wires (when it is wireless), and the automatic switching of the front derailleur (with 2x).
The price, weight and the need to charge yet another gadget… Don't think it is justified.
Maybe, it will be the same as disc brakes and electronic shifters will improve and mechanical slowly become the thing of the past. But right now - it's not that hard to flick the switch with a little bit more force.

    • I generally agree with the sentiment that electronic groupsets aren't worth the price.

I have the AXS Force eTap 2x groupset on my 3T Exploro gravel bike. The gear progression shifting is nice as you don't need to think about front/rear sprocket shifting, and it also eliminates cross-chaining.

However, that's not worth the premium price you are paying.

Midrange mechanical groupsets are more than good enough.

I also want to note that the battery thing isn't really that bothersome since I'm used to charging lights anyway - the one time the rear battery died, I just swapped the front and carried on (the rear shifting occurs more frequently hence the rear battery dies sooner).

  • The price difference between the X01 Eagle and XX1 Eagle is $1200?

That seems like a mistake but $500 ish for a full 1x12 X01 seems like a cracking deal… Sold out though
