While it’s a great game, it’s absolutely ridiculous that a game that came out in 2017, is still $60

      2014

      • +4

Mario Kart released for the SNES in 1992.

        • +7

This is pretty much the wii u version that came out in 2014.

        • Go-karts were invented in 1956

    • +1

Yeah, Nintendo is taking the piss.

      • -2

the grumpy people on this sub downvote f*ng anything, that aside - that's Nintendo for ya : /

It's a for-profit company after all and if they know they can get away with charging $X amount, damn right they will continue to do that, even if the game has been out for close to a decade (counting Wii U release)

      • And look how eagerly people drink it. I've only ever seen Skyrim make this much bank year after year, Nintendo doing it with multiple core titles is crazy efficient

    • -1

Mario Kart has been one of Nintendo's best-selling games ever since the console launched, and people keep buying it so they're not gonna discount it anytime soon

    • +2

Always pick physical digital! you don’t own the game with digital, only a “license to play” the game

      • +2

Same with physical all you are buying is a cartridge with a license on it

        • +3

Getting that way with newer generation consoles.

Especially since the full game isn't always on the cart anymore and there's lots of bugs on release.

    • Not sure how you see it, but I am seeing $79.95 on eShop

  • +1

I bought mine second hand for $50 2 years ago.

In fact im watching the missus battle in luigis mansion right now.

  • A lot of money for an incomplete game still, even for a 1st party Nintendo game

  • +4

Although I do love Nintendo games, it is rediculous that this hella old game costs $80 + $37.50 in 2023. They could have at least made the DLC free to justify its continued expensive price.

  • -7

Why do Nintendo get away without negs on such deals. If this was pretty much any other company flogging off old games for these prices, it would be a sea of red.

    • -1

Because it's a game that still sells to this day and it's not their fault for making games that aren't sh*t and have long shelf lives… I wish it was cheaper for someone (us) who had the Wii U version but my kids still play it…. Same reason after finishing BOTW they go back and try different things…

  • Still the greatest multiplayer racing game ever made. Especially with all the new tracks.

  • It’s been at this price for months.

I think noteworthy is Kirby and the Forgotten Kingdom is on sale too for $59:
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Kirby-and-the-Forgotten-Land/dp/B0…

This should be the first semi-decent discount since its release. Great if you have kids with the coop.

    • It is a decent price. Has been at this price for weeks though.

  • Bugsnax Currently lowest on Amazon $39.59. Not sure if good never played it.

  • Back in stock now. Seems to be the cheapest around and only a couple dollars more than the cheapest scuffed preowned one on eBay. Discounts on a lot of Mario Switch games actually, like Odyssey for $64 https://www.amazon.com.au/Nintendo-Super-Mario-Odyssey/dp/B0…
