    Wow

This is a 2 year old TV. And if I remember correctly it's been in a similar price on 2022 July sale.

    "Introducing Sony’s best-ever OLED TV"
    Past & Future

  • Great TV, I have the 65 inch!

  • This or the X95k?

    • +10

If you can afford the OLED, get this. You will never look back.

I have the x90 while its good, you do get the minor light around white text etc. This OLED will be black as black and white as white.

Why get a subpar tv when you can get the king standard that will last you for 5 -10+ years.

      • +1

Maybe because this king will be dethroned in a few months time? You pay additional $1k or $2k to get the minor bleed removed.. but if you have the $ to spend, why not? It's still the current king.

      • Is the x90 only full array and not mini led? Wonder if those extra LEDs help eliminate that bleed. Good point tho, those black blacks sounds juicy af

        • Once you go black you dont go back

      • +1

Unless you're using it in a bright living room. Then the glossy screen produces a lot of reflection.

    • +6

      Depends tbh.

The x95k is brighter. This oled gets about 720 nits peak brightness, the x95k gets almost 1400.

As a reference HDR+ needs over 1000 nits to be true.

If that's relevant to you, hope that helps.

      • My rooms not crazy bright but it's no cinema either

  • They have the C2 65" for cheaper than the recent 20% off deals, but it's $150 freight…you may be able to get HN/JB etc to beat.

  • I wanna buy one of these and start an outdoor cinema.

Waiting for QD in 83 inch under 5k Aus.

    2 years to go :(

    • +1

We'll be lucky if we get the A95L77 given they didn't add it to the upcoming models https://www.sony.com.au/bravia/gallery

      • Is that the new 77 2023 QD?

surely they wouldn't skip us on it?

      • It's listed there when you click on the A95L series, just not on the gallery page

  • +3

Got one of these with the other JB deal which was cheaper, but overall spend was higher as I did have to get the soundbar which I needed for another room anyway for the deal.

It's Amazing, TV such a huge upgrade off my old TV. Anyone considering should do it, it's been brilliant.
I put off a new TV for so long waiting for the next best thing or the one that hopefully fixes whatever minor issues people had with the current best etc.

  • +1

Seems like a decent price for a 83 OLED

  • +1

At what screen size do you just buy a projector? Seems like 75” has to be about the threshold

    • +2

From what I've read , if 100" is big enough you'd buy something like the TCL C735 over a projector and possibly you'd chose it over the sony83"….

Feels like the old theirs no replacement for displacement (if your room is big enough).

      https://youtu.be/oK-faI0eys8

Could be paid shilling from TCL….

I'm holding out HOPING the next gen TCL QM8 which is a full mini led at 98" is a reasonable price, I'm inclined to go that way over an 83" OLED but will have to wait and see how prices settle out when the new models are released.

      • when is the next gen TCL QM7 coming out ?
i presently have a sony 75" in a bright room, but interested im maybe going larger…98"

If anyone could afford, get this tv before the stock is cleared. I bought this brand new during black friday sale in november 2022 for $6k( that time most were selling it for $7999) and i love it. Pq in imax enhanced setting while watching movies in amazon prime excellent. New sony series oled are using samsung panels and i wonder how good those are.

    Good luck guys

Is this the same model ? https://www.videopro.com.au/product/sony-83-xr83a90j-4k-brav…
    Slightly cheaper price 5,590.

    • +1

Same model but if you are in sydney the delivery fee is $144

  • I would prefer LG OLED 2022 model rather this Sony 2021 OLED.

  • I wonder what's going to happen in few years time when these big TVs become old and people want to change/upgrade. It's not like they can simply sell it off on gumtree and buy a new one. Also wonder if people just sell the wall mounted large screens as part of home fixtures when they sell their real estate?

    • +1

So why exactly can't people simply sell them on gumtree? The process of removal may be different, but the commerce doesn't change much. TVs are not the only large items that change hands.

    • +1

Simply borrow or hire a vehicle that's large enough. Or unreasonably harass the seller about getting it delivered to you.

  • +3
