Wow amazing price for a phenomenal game

  • +11

Not a bad price, but it frequently drops to this price all the time on Steam.

$25.52 AUD off Green Man Gaming (Epic DRM)

Can be had for $20-$22 off Gamivo and sites like those (not Steam DRM though, Rockstar and Epic).

    • -4

Yeah, OP you are wrong that Steam is the cheapest place to get it. Need to check sites like https://isthereanydeal.com and https://gg.deals

Cheapest price to get it on steam as in this is the cheapest price to have it on your steam account

Waiting for this to be free from Epic!

    • +3

      Could be waiting a while.

This is one game that’s worth paying for.

      • I can wait 5-10 years till I've finished going through my library (and other games along the way)

    • I'm still loving Death Stranding. I didn't expect a Conan O'brien cameo! Man did they give him awful jokes. The last joke was perfect.

I can wait for Red Dead Redemption become free. I haven't even played the first one.

      • You don't need to have played the first RDR, RDR2 is actually a prequel. Wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the RDR2 player base haven't touched RDR1 either (like me).

  • +4

Buying it directly from Steam is the only way to get it via Steam, a few dollars extra are worth it.

      whys it better on steam?

So all your mates can see how many hours of your life you wasted on video games.

Related, I regret cheaping out and getting this on Epic as now I can't easily play it on my SteamDeck…

            • @Thiefsie: Mine is nearly 7k but I am assuming they are using the full retail price to calculate the account value since a ton of my library is from cheap bundles / humble monthly subscription.

              • +1

@Agret: My read is that it's actually the cheapest value on the SteamDB data for that bunch of games. If you scroll down you see the current value - for me its close to $18k. Yikes.

Steam Pony: A cretin who downvotes another for extending the courtesy of pointing out a cheaper deal elsewhere. On a bargain website.

Great game but controls and some movement characteristics drive me mad, it’s very obviously made for consoles and ported to PC as an afterthought.

Unfortunately it is how most games are now.

    • +2

Aiming with mouse is a lot easier than with joystick on a gamepad.

      • -1

Uh yeah, so? Doesn’t rectify that the rest of the controls are obviously meant for consoles and movement/actions is clunky.

Not sure if you understand my complaint. I think people who played both PC and console games from late 1990’s and early 2000s understand what I mean. It use to be that they were designed for kb and mouse finesse.

Like laying the fuse for the bomb on RDR2 is an example I remember. You press and ** hold ** X button. And it just moves on a pre-determined path and takes sometime. I think if this was designed for PC it would either be that you lay it yourself while moving yourself, or trace an illuminated path or it would just go straight into a cut scene. Holding X is basically their way of keeping the player feel ‘engaged and in control’ while basically really just playing a cut screen.

I will agree, you kinda do need a whole keyboard to play the game lol, thousand different mappings that result in me accidentally lassoing someone or kicking my horse.

Control scheme is a lot more confusing than it should be IMO

        • I agree on a few cut scenes like riding your horse through a pre-determined path, the game wants you to press and hold W to move your horse forward. It does feel redundant and the player shouldn't need to ask to do that.

But that has nothing to do with difference with controls between PC and consoles. A lot of these games (e.g. Tomb Raider, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc) have the same issue, but aiming with mouse is still a lot faster and accurate than with gamepad. And that is one BIG advantage.

        cries in elden ring

The controls on Xbox are maddening also.
Contextual button changes, inconsistent short press vs long press, tabbing through menus etc, etc. The story is great and the graphics are phenomenal, but I just can't will myself to play with those controls.

    • The whole thing controlled like arse.

Bad controls and systems coupled with an infuriatingly long and pointless intro killed this game for me.

    • Not wrong - that is what is wrong with gaming these days. They are making games for inferior console systems and then porting them to PCs without optimising them. Then you have powerful systems struggling to play games that they should just destroy. If anything they need to go back to doing it the other way.

  • +4

Really didn't like this game, cut scenes are too long and the story drags

    • +2

Especially once you figure out what’s going on after some story is revealed, like I, as the player if I could make choices, just walk away lol. But no, you gotta take the same bullshit 5-10 more missions and dig yourself deeper lol.

  • +1

I want to play this but I don't have a graphics card so I can't, is that right?

    • +4

You need a dedicated Graphics Card, unless you have a fairly new AMD APU.

    • +3

Correct, u need a decent graphics card

      Is #1 "Play the game"?

      Terrible game

  • -4

    OzRRP for this game really

  • +1

Note that this isn't cross-platform, so don't waste your money if you wanted to play with someone who has it on Xbox or something.

    • +4

Surely it's a minority that are buying it for Red Dead Online anyway?

  • i am wondering how the next instalment (if any) of rdr is going to be.

  • FYI I haven't been able to launch the game from Steam for months apparently it's got something to do with the Rockstar launcher and Rockstar support isn't really helpful.

  • is ultimate edition worth the extra for someone whose been meaning to get the game for a while, and will probably be doing single player most of the time?

  • are there many mods like in GTA that make PC version worth it over console?
