Are these the ones with the infamous mapping issues?

    • Mapping issues? Never had an issue with mine and mapping the house.

    • That was the older model. No idea if it's carried over to this unit

    • +2

I have the t8 and it is horrible resets weekly

      • I have this one. Never reset itself. Though had one time I thought it reset but it was there after a few hours.

      • I have the T8 as well. To resolve mapping issues, make sure your Wifi signal from router to the vacuum is strong. It uses it to determine where it is.

      • Sounds like my Dream D9 Max. Randomly does a scheduled clean and decides that when it's finished it will just delete the map and not show any clean in the history. Needs a full reset to be able to create a map again.

      • Did you save and name the map?

    • +1

I got the ecovacs deebot from the last Aldi sale.

It resets the map probably every fifth run.

      • I have the deebot from the last Aldi sale as well. No issues with map resets etc. What I found was useful, is that anything I need to move it (to empty cartridge or take it upstairs), I switch the deebot off.

    • +1

I’ve got an N8 Pro. It doesn’t reset the map, but forgets its location when picked up. So, after every run, I clean the brushes etc. and have to this lift it off the base unit. Next run, it forgets the location, starts to remap but within a few minutes, it picks up the last map and starts running properly.
Have sought help from Ecovacs, but there is no solution.

  • This is basically the same as the Midea one that was selling 2 weeks ago.

    • Different brand, different software?

    • I reckon that was a price mistake.

  • +1

Keen to know if anyone owns this exact one and thoughts on it

    • +1

Yes also keen for this info - wanting to buy a mid-range vac, lots of options.

    • +1

I have the same one and it works well for it's intended function. We use it daily for our living room/dining area. I can't be bothered cleaning the whole house with it as we have pets and with pet toys etc. things get tangled into the brushes. App is good enough and it shows what areas have been cleaned during the cleaning cycle. I have never used the mop function and have no intention of using it.

Don't expect it to replace a full sized vacuum and then you won't be disappointed.

    • Got one and works well. You need to clean up floor of toys and mats before setting it to run. Often tries to climb surfaces 1 cm high ( say a weighing scale) and can get confused if you move furnitures. Keep dock in one place and bit away from clutter and it will do mapping and job well.

    • +1

I have one. It works well and I operate it daily. I don’t use the mopping feature as I have laminate flooring. The vacuum power increases when it detects a rug or carpet. Easy to empty and it tells you when you need to do maintenance on it (empty bin, clean sensors and wheels etc).

I was skeptical at first as only had a dumb robot vacuum before which I promptly returned. It has replaced my Dyson stick v10 vacuum.

      • May I please ask. Why does it not work for you on laminate flooring? Maybe it does not have the dry function? Ta

        • Laminate flooring isn't waterproof so you don't want to get water on it, unless you have the hybrid laminate flooring

    • We have this exact one from ALDI along with the older 920 and love them both - got one upstairs and one downstairs.

      Like:
      - Works well when on a schedule + zones, ours run overnight 3x a week, and comes into our bedroom in the morning as it misses that at night
      - Auto switches to a higher vacuum when on carpet or a rug
      - Performs pretty well, not sure where it finds all the dust from the carpet but we have to empty it regularly
      - Seems pretty good value at this price, at least back when we got ours

      Don't like:
      - Zone editor is pretty finicky, not a fan but good thing is that you mostly set and forget (unless map messes up)
      - We found saved maps can mess up sometimes when manually moving the vacuum around, something we don't do anymore as we got one for upstairs + downstairs
      - Mop seems more like gimmick than anything, just drops water on the ground and drags a cloth over it lol

  • Knowing ALDI, they probably have allocated 1 per store.

    • +4

Untrue. That’s a generalised blanket false statement you’ve made.

Last time they had heaps, I actually forgot about it and it sold out at some stores near me, went to the store 15 minutes away a few days after sae started and they still had 8+ so not always true with only having 1 in stock.

      • +1

Yep same here, when we got ours I reckon there were still 15+ left

  • +2

Honest question, how much do these retail for "normally"?

  • +3

"Bought this from Aldi couple of months ago. For the first two weeks it worked so well and we were thrilled with it. Then I changed internet companies, and the only way it could adjust to new wifi settings was to remap the house. We've had nothing but issues since. It's constantly getting lost and starting a new cleaning environment map; it thinks the charging base has relocated to other rooms and changes the map when nothing has been moved; if it picks up something we missed and we pause to scoop it out and place it back in the exact same spot, it can't relocate and starts a new map again. Over the last 4 weeks I've had to remap 13 times. It has now lost the location again after I attempted a mop clean for the first time and no matter how many times I put it back on the base and reset app, it cannot locate and I now need to remap the house AGAIN. The product itself works well when it wants to work, but the constant remapping is a nightmare and I'm ready to bin it. Tried calling helpline too, got nowhere with it."

    • I don’t have this exact one but the Deebot 950. It doesn’t stuff up the map often but when it does there is no way to roll it back. The app is trash. Just have to re-map again, set up all your cleaning zones, boundaries etc.
Ecovacs support’s advice was to pick up the robot mid-clean and place it on the charger, this would restore the previous map. But this only works if you notice the problem straight away and not after it has finished cleaning.
      I don’t recommend them

    • I have the n8+ with auto emptying function, no real issues, if it malfunctions and you place it back on the charger it will reset the map, I did have a few issues when I first used the vacuum (had the n8+ for around 8 months and an ECOVACS 920 before that for around a year) I have rooms saved and virtual boundaries set up and after it has finished and successfully docked back into the charger the original map will show up again, I don’t believe you can save a default map as such as it kind of remembers the last map and constantly updates it on the next run, I have a bathroom next to my dining room that the vac cannot get into but the laser guidance will read that room but not completely map it out, the map constantly updates and I believe that is an advantage but disadvantage at the same time, the more expensive models eg T8+ have better avoidance navigation to identify cables/ clothing etc, I have found with my model to create a virtual boundary in areas that are problems (cables usually behind my pc, or my bedside tables that it gets suck under) and identify rooms after it has successfully mapped and I’ve had no issues since. Try resetting the vacuum so it as new condition, starting an auto clean with nothing on the floor that would likely to get stuck and after it has successfully docked and finished identify the rooms and create a boundary around furniture in each room such as a tv cabinet that it cannot get under anyway and see if this helps remembers the map and helps with the issues 🙂

    • Also try this; If your map screws up by ghosting or any other reason or it starts to try creating a new map, do the following: With the vacuum in the dock, power off your vacuum, wait around 15 seconds, then power it back on, if all goes well it should reset to your original map.

    • Once you have a map saved, create a copy and save on the app. When lost, you can ask the robot to use this map instead. May work.

  • I have one - from Aldi the last time they sold them…..18 months ago? It broke about 5 months ago - the laser distance sensor (issue most people with complaints seem to have). Ecovacs customer service is terrible. I need to pay $300 to get it fixed. Not happening. I would not recommend.

    • +2

It should have a two year warranty (I purchased mine from Amazon and a different model tho) so I’d just return it to Aldi, on the bottom of the Aldi receipt it should have the item and warranty period in months.

      • Took it to my local Aldi - 12 month warranty. They won't replace.

  • +1

    This is essentially an N8.

Personally, I'd go with a T8 as a minimum just for the ability to use the mechanised Ozmo Pro mopping attachment.

  • +3

Don’t bother with Ecovacs they are sh*te

    • Can you give more details

      • Don't last very long and customer service is terrible

  • I have a 920 and very happy with it. I'll likely get this special for a family member.
After reading comments about re-mapping and Ecovacs support, I can offer this advice.

Mine can randomly say it will re-map. I found that if I change or move furniture near the charger dock compared to the first time it takes the map, it can think it is in a different location. So just be mindful that the state of the room/place where the charger dock is from the first map, keep it exactly the same.

A few months after my 1yr warranty ran out, it stopped working because of a drop sensor issue. There are about 6 sensors underneath the vac to detect if it is about to encounter stairs or a drop in floor level. Ecovacs support wanted for me to send the vac in at my expense so that it can be assessed and a quote given. Without knowing how much it was going to cost me, plus it being unfair that an expensive device would fail after 1 year, I pulled the 'ACCC' card around consumer law, and it was fixed for free.

We have this exact one.. This doesnt do a very good job.. Doesnt vaccum all corner areas and also sides. Mopping function is not even worth having. Loses its maps as well, so we need to redo mapping from time to time. In total, not a great buy. But for 400 maybe you can live with it but still questionable.

  • horrible customer service, my last model dies on 13 months and they wanted $80 just to inspect it. rubbish company

  • Picked one up this morning from Aldi Fremantle. 8 on the shelf when the store opened, 4 left by the time I left 10 mins later. After all the bad reviews on here I hope I got one of the good ones…… :-/

  • Grabbed one this morning from Loganholme QLD store which looked to have at least 20 units at open. Initial setup and run through was simple enough and it did a good job overall. Will see how it performs in terms of keeping maps and future cleans. I have no and likely will not use mop function only vacuum

  • picked one up this morning from Aldi forest lakes (WA). 15 left on the shelf ..i believe it will runout within today.

  • Anyone know of this can be controlled by Alexa?

  • How this compare to cheaper option below
