  • How does this compare to the Toshibas which were on sale a week ago?

    • This depends on what you want.

There is a Toshiba on sale for $533 delivered. Here is the post from when it was $488 - even at $533 still a great deal.

      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/75491

Just follow the link and you see it!

      • Well I'm after bang for bucks. I guess I want to know since the Sharp is more $$$, what sets it apart? IQ? both are LED edgelit/3d/net capable…sooo

        • +1

The Sharp has better energy efficiency and also has a recording and timeshift function via USB. Also slightly better customer reviews.
If you are looking for value for money I would probably get the Toshiba unless the recording function is important to you.
Both are LED, have HbbTV, have triple tuner while the Toshiba has one HDMI port more.
The Toshiba description says it is a smart TV while the Sharp can be connected via Wifi (with receiver stick needed) and via DLNA.
Seriously, use Chrome to translate the pages, then see what fits your requirements best.
Personally, I do not need the recording function so I would get the Toshiba. Also, I am a Toshiba fan rather than a Sharp fan but I have friends who buy nothing but Sharp because of their great experience with the products.
I cannot tell you more than that as that is all I know. Neither TV is 3D - the Sony Bravia I posted on Friday was for $790 but the price has gone up sharply now.

I second this. I own a Sharp LED and it's awesome - rich colour, smooth rednering and detailed pictures.

While Sharp has a relatively low profile internationally, Aquos is a respected and sought after product/brand in Japan.

        • I thought the Toshiba is a 3D tv? Just that it does not come with glasses?

        • Hmm, I think you are right. The post says it is 3D - and so does Amazon. Yes, definitely three 3D TV.

        • I correct myself - the Toshiba is a 3D TV - so if you are into that go for that one!

  • So this will work in australia with no problems? Would I just have to change power cable?

  • In my experience the TVs from Germany work as they have same voltage, same PAL system etc. if you want to do a bit of research just read the posts as the end of my post from Friday or the Toshiba post:

  • I just purchased this -
    Grundig(32 inch) LCD TV,(Full HD, 100Hz)
    http://www.amazon.de/Grundig-LCD-Fernseher-Energieeffizienzk…
    $330ish delivered,bargain.

    • I will post this if you do not mind.

      • All yours bro.

  • Thanks again for the posts Gallifrey. Question - I know you use Camel x3 to find these deals, but how do you establish which tv's can be sent to oz and which cant. I have been searching on amazon.de, finding the deals that are directly sold by amazon, and adding them to my cart and trying to dispatch to my address - is there a better way? Thanks

    • I don't use Camel - I use my eyes and observation skills when going through sales. Much better than any website. :-)
I try it out - I put each item in my basket, go through the process, and when I pick my OZ address it will tell me whether or not it can be sent here - just like you do. Simple, yet so effective.

Hint: Often the restrictions are by brand - for example, I have never found a LG product which could be shipped here while all the Sony ones I picked could.

  • Any good deals on a sharp 32"er?

  • Look under Shipping: if it says;

"Shipping: This item, when it is sold by Amazon and shipped submitted only in the following countries: Germany, Austria"

It usually can't be sent to Aus.

If it doesn't say that you should be ok.

  • Correct me if im wrong but isnt the Toshiba in the previous deal now about AU$630 shipped?

    • Well, the deal I looked at it was priced $533 - maybe the price has gone up since.

Still the same price - I just checked.

  • So did i, 492+40 shipping for the toshiba is au$630 isnt it…
    Its in euro remember…

    • VAT removed!

  • Any 42'' screens or bigger?

  • I am not sure about these sharp models but thinking about TVs that have "smarts" like abc iview etc - how does that work out for imported TVs, wouldnt they all have icons for their local shows (german online tv). hope I have explained it.

    • It's all about the signal the TV gets. Do you really think a machine cares about language? It does what the signal tells it to do.
