related to this, anyone have favourite places in sydney for catcher machines?

    • I had a bit of luck a few weeks back at Macquarie Park.

Chatswood doesn't have much range with the machines.

      Haymarket is incredibly rigged.

      • +1

        Haymarket Timezone, or Haymarket Capitol?

I've won a llama plushie at the Timezone before in Market City so it's do-able and the staff were pretty helpful with moving things around. Total spend that day was <$10.

I find TImezone Chatswood the hardest though - won one thing but took a lot of tries so definitely not a great ROI. I found the staff there don't really move things much if you ask them and if you stuff everything together so it's tightly pressed, it's not really winnable IMO.

That being said, my favourite place is Timezone Top Ryde. Maybe it's my luck or the weather but I always win something within a few tries there and the staff are always very helpful with repositioning things to make it possible.

The above is all just an anecdotal experience though.

          Haymarket Timezone.

          Struggle everytime I go there.

I usually clean up at Macquarie Park. Last time I was there, I won 5 prizes and pissed off all the parents with their kids standing nearby.

          Chatswood is bad.

    • Haymarket is the place to go, easy cheesy piece of cake ;)

  • May I ask how much is it per game ? There isn't much to do at night in Brisbane so going to Timezone could be fun but just not sure how many games I can play if I only want to spend $30 max per night. :)

    • +1

For $30 you can get two games of bowling, 20 minutes arcade credit, 200 points and a 600ml drink at garden city Qld venue
I don’t think you can combine this with the offer posted here though

    • i cant remember off top my head also depends on the tier

    • Timezones are different, some games the duration is shorter per venues.

My favorite is Sunshine Coast followed by Garden City (busy).

    • +1

games price vary but I see that it's $2.4 with VIP discount (if you charge over $50 you get blue membership and you can play at the discounted price) instead of $2.6 standard price. some game are extremely short while some others like PUMP (Korean version of DDR) gives 3 songs (potentially 4 songs if you pass 3 games with S grade) that will last somewhere 10 minutes for $2.4.
Mini Bowling is $6 approx, I take turn with kids and take about 10 minutes of play, VR game I've played 2 of them pricing is little different (Rabbit one for $4.5, Kingkong $6 approx ) and this last about 5 minutes of play, all pricings are based on my memory and can be slightly different. I'm holding gold membership, benefit listed there on the app, I get 1 game per each day but this also have specific games I can play which I only knew recently,

      • +1

i must be old af. i remember that i spent 20-30mins on fighter games with a single coin… not that i'm good, but everyone else didn't want to waste their coins so we all 'queued'.

bullet hell games are another one

        • -2

          Old (profanity)

        • +1

I feel like I’m saying goodbye to a loved one forever. Consoles were the best & worst thing to happen, it seems. Just like streaming/home theatre has ‘kinda’ brought cinemas to the home.

Gaming and arcades were a huge part of my life, growing-up. But that was 20cents at a time. Went to one on a bucks night a few months back. Priceless. And introduced macho tradies to StarWars VR. Melted their brains. Mint!

$100 at Timezone is one great session, but money better spent on permanent stuff at home.

Maybe I’ll drop $100 for each of my kids, and just say my goodbyes to arcades.

  • +8

Each game is pretty much minimum $2.50
4 games for $10 and you might get 30 tickets.
In saying that, it's great fun with kiddies but the money runs out VERY quickly.

I find the best value/fun is the water pistol game with the kids

    • +2

Definitely not money/ticket efficient with kids or playing casually, but if you go into it on your own and not with fun in mind, certain machines are skill based (no RNG, no rigging) and allow you to win the 400/500 ticket jackpot every time.

If you minmax enough with discounted gift cards and double dollars redemption, you can eek out a profit by redeeming your tickets for TVs and selling them on FB Marketplace

      • oh nice! which games are skill based?

        • +2

The Vault is probably the easiest one to master, and the most consistent: https://primetimeamusements.com/product/the-vault/

There are also tricks with claw machines that have a "second chance wheel" on the back wall where you can win tickets if you didn't get a prize - the claw machine part is rigged of course, but the wheel is skill based and while it only gives 1 chance per fail, it stacks the number of collected chances until they are consumed or the machine is switched off and back on. Since everyone just sees it as a claw machine with "flashy lights", most of the time the second chance wheel is ignored and you can come along, tap once, fail once and then get a pretty easy 100 tickets per banked up second chance attempt. The best I've ever gotten in one session was around 1500 tickets from a single "tap" on the claw machine. Only downside is you can't see how many banked up chances there are, only that there is at least one.

  • I have some kingpin cards. Can I use them @ timezone??

    • Yup, we tested our Kingpin cards on some of the machines at Zone Bowling and they worked

  • Haven't been since the last top up lol

  • +4

Sweet $120 worth of Taiko no Tatsujin!

    • are you one of those who have custom sticks?

there's another one where i see people wear gloves and swipe a big circular screen…. too pro.

      • No, but now you've got me curious about it…

      • +2

That game is Maimai. For those interested, check out this interview.

(We need more machines in Aus. It’s gotten super crowded lately…)

  • +1

I believe the credit only lasts a year so gotta use it within that period of time

    • +4

WILL MY TIMEZONE GAME CREDIT AND POWERTICKETS EXPIRE?
Powercards will expire 12 months from the last in-venue use date, at which time any unused balance and Powertickets will be forfeited. App reloads do not count towards extending your Powercard expiry.

    • +1

Just poke a claw machine once every few months and you're set

    • from my experience, i have trouble getting the credit last during a session than the credit lasting in the card lol.

put in $200…. annnnnd it's gone.

    • @greenlantern
No it doesnt, the card expires if not used for 12 consecutive months, so if you use it today, your 12 months start from today and then say if you go again in 6 months, 12 month count will start again.

  • Does anyone know which timezone/kingpin in Melbourne that has time crisis or house of the dead, whichever number it is?

    • +2

Kingpin Crown has House of the Dead Scarlett Dawn (The latest version)

      • Nice, might check it out sometime!

    • Ringwood Eastland have time crisis one of recent version

I just searched and I think it's Time Crisis 5,

I played once and it look very similar. Game machine is pretty new and came to the Timezone Ringwood less than year ago

      • Dang, at least one hour of commuting from CBD to get there, pretty far but thanks regardless

  • If you already have timezone app ..then can you still use this..i.e not for new registrations?

    • Correct. As long as you've registered your card in the app you can top up through it.

  • I wanna try the rayman rabbits vr ride at my local, so I will grab some credits

    • I am pretty sure it works with timed play cards. Maybe bring a friend and he can use the card on other games while you play.

      • Sure maybe can bribe a 10 year old at a bday party to tap me on.

  • Is this deal also available at Kingpin?

    • Yes, my local Kingpin was advertising the double credit during the Valentines Day promo

Edit: Noticed you’re in ACT, the Canberra Civic Kingpin was advertising it during the last promo. The Kingpin card should also work at the Zone Bowling in Belco since the Timezone system is cross shared

  • +1

im guessing so, give them a ring when u get a chance

  • +13

Currently in a case with them where they have stolen few thousand AUD of arcade credit and Powertickets from me. They added the term "App reloads do not count towards extending your Powercard expiry." in December without notice (terms of Powercards do not say they can change without notice), applied it retroactively and zeroed my account.

Had half a million Powertickets and few thousand $ credit.

May not matter if you are just playing for fun and loading only $50-100 but this business is dodgy. Just be careful if you are loading big amounts..

    • Wow… Just wow. Good luck!

Please let us know how it goes.

    • Thats insane hope it works out for you

    • So how do you find out your credit and power ticket expiry? I’ve got about 250k tickets I don’t want to lose.

      • +2

Walk in to any Timezone and scan any game once every 12months.

This person had the scenario where they reloaded thousands and didn't enter a Timezone for 12months? The terms are:

"Powercards will expire 12 months from the last in-venue use date, at which time any unused balance and Powertickets will be forfeited. App reloads do not count towards extending your Powercard expiry."

Otherwise if that wasn't their scenario, they're still within the terms and should continue to fight it.

        • +3

Yes, the exact part you bolded (as well as the app reload part) was just recently changed without notice when they retroactively zeroed my card. The "in-venue" was not there at the times I reloaded. They have gone out of their way to suddenly change T&C without any notice at the end of last year and applied this to past customers.

It would be like if you suddenly without notice expired all velocity points by adding a condition that online top-ups don't extend expiry then apply that in the past to anyone who has bought online top-ups.

          • -1

            @takutox: That’s outrageous.

            Have you sued them?

          • +1

@takutox: The change in terms makes sense tbh but the execution definitely is very very bad.

How hard would it have been to notify customers to scan once as the terms were changing? This does look like a set up to expunge some too large accounts. Doubt it's worth fighting in court but hopefully you can find some avenues of justice.

            • @eagerfisherman: Yeah, I would say the execution was purposeful and malicious. You can see the only change they have made was done multiple times on multiple pages on multiple dates to "patch" this specific thing in particular and screw certain customers (I would not be surprised if I was manually zeroed and targeted)

      • +3

Just have to physically go into a store and scan your card once at least every 12 months.

Though in my case I had mine removed after this "in-venue" term was randomly added without notice at the end of last year.

        • im gutted to hear they stole so much… did you contact corporate to try sort some compensation out? was there a resolution?

          • @quac: Unfortunately, no response from corporate aside from brushing it off and saying they don't see any transactions in 2022 (even though I have receipts from 2022), so have to Fair Trading / Tribunal path

        • Horrible story mate but why did you have all that credit and tickets on there?

Surely you must be one of their top tier customers and they'd have your details and want your business.

          • +1

@King Steuart: For the bigger amounts, I loaded up big during discounts and double dollars so there is incentive to do big loads together if you visit often as you maximize value. You can redeem bigger amount for laptops / phones.

And nope, looks like they are happy and actually went out of their way to wipe out $4k and don't value whatsoever, since I already spent the money with them.

      • what can you do with hundreds k of tickets

        • +1

Can redeem for laptops / phones / game consoles and other tech gadgets

Or was supposed to be able to redeem, I guess lol

          • @takutox: Out of curiosity do you know how much a PS5 is? I have a bit over 100k tickets and can get an XBOX Series S 512gb, but in WA there are prize limit values and the prize value needs to be under $600, so I have been saving my tickets for when I head over east to pick up a PS5 but I don't know what they cost.

  • Has anyone used the powercard at Kingpin Norwood in SA?

    • +2

Hey, powercards will work at Norwood

      • Hey do you know how often the list of major prizes gets updated?

        • +1

Hey, not as often as we'd like. We're unfortunately at the mercy of what our existing suppliers can provide in high qty, in quick turn around.

  • +1

Hi, can this credit to buy $28 60 mins time play package? thanks

    • Nope.

      • Is the Timeplay package better value, particularly for once-off visits? (seems like it)

        • +1

Depends what you're aiming to do.

Can't earn tickets or play claw machines, "skill" games etc on package deals.

Depends when you go, where you go and what machines you're looking to play. Difficult to judge, you'd have to just test it out in your area.

For example, Minecraft Dungeons, single play is like $2.50? You get a good 10mins out of that (after some skill gain). You can play there for an hour on $15. 60mins is $28. Not so good, probably still 5mins, pretty generous game, so you'd just break even.

So yeah, really depends :) Factor in wait times etc, who knows. I like the flexibility of pure credit, these promos help.

Remember when Timezone had all the video games that couldn’t be faithfully replicated at home? It was a long time before “arcade perfect” conversions were achieved.

  • Does anyone know if COSTCO sell $100 gift cards or only the $50 gift card since the minimum for the Timezone double up is $60 now.

    • +1

They can do split payment :)

  • Any way to load 2x $30 Ultimate teens, without going to the venue?

    • Must do it in person.

  • I downloaded the timezone app but is there a way to add a power card online ..or so at to buy the bonus without going to am actual timezone

    • Just downloaded it here, but seems you need to pick up a plastic card in-store

      • Yeh so seems like need to go in person then

  • +1

Even at half price still expensive.

Loaded up $60 and kids blew through the $120 in 30 mins…

    • Seems like the kids are problem to me.

    • Looks like playing 4 hours equal to 1 PS5 console 😂

  • Can top up money be used on other days?

    • Yes, i always did that

  • Which is the best Timezone in Melbourne? Knox was pretty sad haha
