      Quick maths

      • +2

$16+$16 was $32 when I went school. Oh, kids these days with their new facts….

        • +9

He said quick maths - didn't say accurate maths

        • Inflation mate… Everything these days gone up 😞

            • @nutcracker007: case? or 6 pack?

*Nevermind - Still a 6 pack, and still $22 each for 2 or more in SA.

        • +2

In this instance, the 44 identifies as less than 32

          • +3

@kararmaster: Feelings over facts these days 🤣

          • +2

@kararmaster: Just to clarify for everyone.

            1 x 6 pack = $16 each

            2 x 6 packs = $22 each

              • @nutcracker007: Still not fixed in SA. I spoke to Coles Online at 9pm..apparently working on it..maybe… Hopeless

        • +1

That's how Coles advertised it. Oh, boomers these days don't know what quick maths mean.

          • @Yoo: Yeah…FirstChoice are also doing a 4 x 6 packs of Tinnies for $60… or $52 per 24 carton. Hmmmm

    • I would say 2 for $44 is an instore promo too, and its usually around $26ea in store

  • Both Guinness and Kilkenny coming up as temporarily unavailable for me

    • In SA the Coles Online alcohol orders come from the shop next door to the store (either Liquorland or Vintage Cellars). Try changing to a different location and stock may become available.

  • +2

You could also consider 24 Guinness at First Choice - $59 ($72-$13cashback). The trap with a $16 six pack is you'll have to add one pack to the basket and buy other stuff to get over the $50 barrier..

      • Thanks for the update. I did end up getting a 'case' - that is , 24 cans for $51.20. Diddly dee potato

  • After adding to the cart it bump up the price to $22

    Lovely beer love it

  • +1

    shows $16 for me

    • Same here

      • I guess 20% discount at the checkout (from the previous post) to bring it down to $12.8

  • IPA drinker here - need some love

    • +12

      Drink Guinness instead, problem solved

    • +4

Given pretty much every "craft beer" on the market at the moment claims to be some form of IPA I'm surprised you can walk after all that loving

  • Not working for me either.

  • +1

I don't get these discounts. Guinness Draught Can 440mL 6x Pack shows me this:
    1 for $16
    2 for $44
    3 for $66

All these Guinness and Baileys posts remind me that St Paddy's day is coming up soon. Note to self: Book liver transplant on the day after 18/3.

  • Which one is better? I never tried Kilkenny.

    • Guinness

    • +3

Kilkenny by far. Guiness tastes like arse.

      • +1

Caffreys - Kilkenny - Guinness - Boddingtons - John Smith's - Tetley's - Newky Brown. Finding Caffreys in Aus is rare as rocking horse poo!

        • +1

I just noticed Caffreys is on sale at Aldi for $10.99 / 4-pack

          https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-liquor/…

And you can check stock levels on this page
          https://stockcheck.aldi.com.au/

I have stock near me but I find 3.8% is just a little too weak for what I'm used to. Guinness is on the edge at 4.2% .. I think I've had too many IPAs that are 6%+

Have you tried Little Creatures Ancient Traveller? Beautiful flavour stout but not creamy like the irish brews. Was only $15 at Dans for a long time

          • +1

@psychicEgg: By this measure, your chances have sky rocketed of discovering some rockinghorse poop @Solrak.

          • @psychicEgg: Sweet! I always used to think Caffreys was a higher percentage than 3.8%???

        • +1

I hope that list is in reverse order of preference!
A bit of a random assortment of styles too: Irish Ale, Irish Cream Ale, Irish Stout, Bitter (from Salford), Bitter (from North Yorkshire), Bitter (from West Yorkshire), Brown Ale (from Newcastle).

No love for fellow Irish Stouts: Beamish or Murphy's?
          Smithwick's Irish Red Ale?

          • @sam buster: Never had Smithwick's Irish ale. Had Beamish and Murphy's back in the day. Boddingtons had the best ads…. remember the ones with Melanie Sykes in? Do you want a flake in that, luv?

            • @Solrak: Got to confess I've also never had Smithwick's, but my friend from Derry swears it's the best drink from Ireland.
And yes, I do remember those Boddies ads - I also worked at the Strangeways Brewery. Pretty bland beer though, tbh. It's not brewed in Manchester anymore.

      • @tonydav Kilkenny tastes like contents of arse 😅

    • +3

Same brewery with the same nitrogen tech that gives the beautiful head. But Kilkenny isn't as 'rich' as a Guinness, and I find it lacks flavour in comparison

But if you don't like the burnt caramel flavour of Guinness (I hated it in my 20s, love it in my 40s), then Kilkenny is probably the better option

    • Kilkenny tastes bland af, like thickened water. Guinness by far.

  • Price beating Aldi.

This works for delivery, got a 6-pack of Guinness for $12.80, which is awesome!

But you can only order one 6-pack at a time .. add any more to your cart and it will jump up to $42

The 'two 6-packs for $42' promotion has been running for a long time (works out to be $16.80 for a 6-pack with the 20% off liquor discount, which is still good. Have consumed many of these :)

I just tried to order another 6-pack of Guinness for C&C but they have the $50 minimum on that as well, so had to cancel out

    • +2

      Stupid Qld rules

      • +2

yeah WTF comeon Anna sort it out

        • It just seems Qld has different rules etc to the rest of the country -

          No Daylight Savings
KFC is run and owned different in Qld
No beer in Coles, Woolies or Aldi!!!

I’m guessing there would be more too

Sorry, we couldn't find the page you're looking for
The page may have moved or you might have typed an incorrect URL

    • I'm getting this also once logged in. I don't get this messaged when I'm not logged in though.

    • I had to change location as not all stores sell alcohol.

  • For sure a pricing error, good luck!

    • +2

Yes, a mysterious pricing error that turns up at multiple retailers just in time for St Patrick's Day every year /s

      • If you can keep a six pack in the fridge until the 17th you're a far stronger monkey than me!

  • Anyhing you can add to the cart (to get to $50 for click n collect), then return on collection?

No food specials at Coles this week.

Might just chuck in a slab I will change my mind on.. Basically what Coles Online normally does when you rock up to collect.

  • Already ordered a slab of Matilda Bay, also a good discounted price.
I'm new to Coles Online, was easy to modify the order and add a 6 pack of Guinness for variety, cheers!

  • how much for MB?

  • $50 minimum order though for click and collect

  • Can try price match with Dan Murphy, $15 for 6 can of Guinness in melb CBD today.

  • Not working for me. Tried to get one 6-pack of each and it just overrides to $21 each. Getting the total shop to over $50 with other groceries didn't change the price in my cart.

    • Yeah, that's normal as far as I can tell. Groceries & alcohol have to be seperate orders. Doesn't make sense to me, but that's how I did it.

If you're keen, just order a slab of one @$2/can. Might need to spend a few dollars on another cheap drink to reach $50

      • How do you order by can? Cant see the option or as a catalogue item

        • A slab, 24 cans for $48 (after 20% discount). Original poster has a link to it at the top.

          • @alxjpow: weird, I'm seeing it as $75 for a slab

            • @OZcheepsk8: Must've been changed since the original post. $2.43/can after 20% discount. Still a reasonable price I guess.

  • What is the expiry date on these? I am doing 75 hard now but can drink them in 2 and 1/2 months.

    • My cans from Coles have a BB of June 2023.

  • +1

    Has anyone successfully bought it?

The last time I tried on a similar alcohol deal (most likely due to pricing error), Coles just bluntly said the item is not available, and refunded, a waste of time.

    • Yep. Just picked them up.

  • It's not even available!

  • Doesn't appear to be available in the NW Coast of Tasmania….

  • Weren't cans 500mL?

  • +1

Got mine for $12.80. No sign of the discount until the final screen before payment.

    • Order placed, but zero supplied. FFS.

  • Order placed, but zero supplied (SA).
Waste of time. Currently on phone cancelling the rest of the 'filler' items I no longer want.

And the 20% didnt apply correctly (actual invoice is only 16%)

    And…

The coles online woman is giving me massive attitude!!

    WTF

  • Price matched at DM via chat. 24 cans of Kilkenny $59.80

    • Coles is $51.20 (4 x $12.80)

  • Coles was messing me around with my order so I've price matched 3 packs at Dan's for $12.30 a pack so saved a further $1.50. Order ready to pick up 5 minutes after ordering. Impressive.

    • How did you do that? Chat/ call…im done with Coles.

      • Chatted online they set it up and gave me a call to do the payment over the phone. Really easy.

  • Love this deal doubled with the 20% off cart, Missus wanted a bottle of Kahlua so was a good reason to get 2 6 packs to hit that $50 threshold for Click and Collect.

    • Did you actually get it though? I ordered ..wasnt there on collection.

  • Maybe mark the post as excluding Queensland, where we can't buy grog at Coles, and can't even drink in public legally.

  • The '2 for $44' issue not fixed in SA!
Tried adding 3, but keeps adding $22 for each 6 pack after the first 2.
At this stage, can only order 1 six pack at a time and cant spend $50 each time I want to get a six pack.

  • Now this has become bad! Coles has cancelled by itself my orders from yesterday to be picked up this noon.

I am in Canberra, by the way.

  • Mine was cancelled an hour before I was off to pick it up, 3 * 6 packs each of guinness and kilkenny for around $75
