Google Nest Cam Wireless Camera (Outdoor or Indoor, Battery) 3-Pack $558 + Delivery ($0 to Metro/ C&C/ in-Store) @ Officeworks

240

Was eyeing this for the last few months and was about to pull the plug on Amazon.
A quick search showed Officeworks selling it for substantially cheaper. (Yesterday it was at $627 to price beat JB Hi-Fi deal)
Just bought a pack.
Not sure if pricing error though.

  • Does it require a hub ?

    This or a nosy neighbour?

  • Does this require subscription service to access your recordings?

    • Yes it does, unless you don't mind only 3 hours of recording

      • +1

Just note, this is 3hrs of "event recording" when the video camera detects something and stores as a highlight.

It's not the previous 3hrs only of recording….as far as I read when I just bought the doorbell last week.

To have 24 hrs and continuous recording, then the subscription is needed.

    • 1st month free then $7.50pm if pay annually for main features. For me it's worth it for convenience and reliability with no fuss.
Much cheaper options around if can live with extra setup and keeping HDD running etc.
Don't need electrician to install and battery goes 2 to 4 months on 1 charge

      • I'm guessing there's a higher subscription fee for more cameras ,?

        • No. Unlimited cameras per "house":

Cover all the Google Nest cameras, displays and speakers in your home for just $9/month

        • There is a 2nd tier sub that gives 60 days history of event recording vs 30 days, plus 10 day history of 24/7 recording which wouldn't do or need if running of battery anyway

Great deal, I managed to get it price matched at the Google Store and used my $300 credit from my Pixel 7 purchase.

Were you about to pull the plug or the trigger?

    • +1

      Definitely pull the trigger

These are battery, so no need for the plug :)

  • I have these but am unsatisfied with how sensitive they are to start recording. I'm looking for a better (likely wired) option. And yes, I've turned all the sensitivites and any other settings up to max, :(

    • +1

But these can be wired too.

    • battery life is not great max 1 month for me

    • FYI - Just my experience. I had mine for a month. Did a lot of troubleshooting with Google directly and they couldn't figure out why a fully charged battery drains within 3-4 weeks, regardless of sensitivity. Then lowering sensitivity misses most of activities despite having specific activity zone. I don't live in front of a street as well so not much activities other than when I enter/exit home. Also, connecting or even staying connected to the google app while watching the cam is such a pain - disconnects frequently. Returned it to JB Hi-Fi and the staff assisted me said he gets a lot of people returning this product.

      • Mine became much more reliable overall with the hardwire AC adaptor

  • They can be set to continuous recording of weird and if you have best aware plus. To expensive subscription though they should just make it so you can use your Google one storage

      $558/3= $186ea

Edit: I misread your comment and thought you said better deal, not decent - my bad

Thanks OP. Price matched with Google store for 10% credit.

    • Any idea if you get 10% of the $899 price, or the price matched price, given they refund you the difference once it ships?

  • My wireless nests are terrible, software intergration is just bad, you cant use it with the nest app(which has the better software) 2 of my 3 nest cams battery drains within 3-4 weeks, and out of the 2, 1 is now completely dead, wont even charge even when i factory reset it. I only had it for less than a year. Dont bother with this

  • Damn. Back to $627.
