How did you pick which word to bold this time?

      ;p

  • +2

25% cashback that is 25% cashback!

  • Tracked in 13 mins, was starting to get worried it hadn't tracked…

  • +3

BWS always takes sooooo long to pay out

Ordered and tracked last cash back on 9th Feb….might see the cashback money on 30th May.

Liquorland pays out much much sooner

    • 90 day payout bit much really

      • 120+ days ;)

  • -2

Just saying, Shopback has 25% cashback on First Choice, Liquorland and BWS. Find it's normally cheaper shopping at the other two.

    • Shopbacks's 25% is only on selected items (Jameson).

    • +2

Read the terms. Thats only for Jameson products for green day.

      • Oh nvm I just saw it on my watchlist at 3am and thought it'd actually be the whole store..

    • FC, LL are only 22.5% cashback as GST is not included.

      • That's the norm isn't it? From CR:

You may not earn Cashback on GST, freight, delivery fees and taxes.

It makes sense as GST wasn't ever really the company's profit/money to begin with, just a legal requirement to tack on to sale price, hence the reason why they don't reimburse.

        • Yes it's the norm, but this offer is 25% cashback from the whole amount (post-GST)

          • @dangerdanger: Weird as that was exactly the phrase I got from exactly this post on BWS and none of my purchases from BWS have included GST. This makes sense because this money is being collected on behalf of the government, not BWS or CR to give to the consumer.

        • +1

          No, there is no 'norm'.

          BWS's 25% is 25%.

Same as as Supercheap auto or any store you visit with a sale. 25% off Is 25% off.

liquourland/ FC take off the GST. So only give you 22.5% cashback. Imagine if a large chain store did this. They would be done for bait/ false advertising in a heart beat

How they can advertise this to be the same is beyond me!

Just advertise the cashback % honestly.. Thats all im asking.

          • @tunzafun001: 25% immediately off the price of sale, at the point of sale and 25% delayed reimbursement on full price of sale are two completely different things.

GST is not needed to be charged on small businesses with under $75k GST turnover (unless laws have changed), they can if they choose. GST is a before sales tax and exemptions to GST apply. Hence a flat rate with GST deducted is actually worse for the consumer.

There would be no false advertising as a reasonable attempt has been made by the party to deliver transparent information, it's on the buyer to know the terms of the transaction they are agreeing to.

Your comment sounds a lot like a Karen whinge with no real backing to it, if you could add some it would be greatly appreciated.

            • @pennypincher98: So your claim is the Coles group has <$75k turnover??

              And, or

There is no issue between BWS advertising 25% cashback (and actually giving 25% cashback)

              Vs

Liquourland advertising the exact same 25% cashback, but only giving ~22.5%.

              • @tunzafun001: Okay maybe it was a bit much trying to get you to add any backing to your comment when you can't even read mine properly. My apologies, I forget 50% of people are stupider than the average person.

Government taxes do not need to be reimbursed by the company the government collects them on behalf of as it's not the company's money. They can choose to do this, just like those with <75k GST turnover can choose to collect GST. It's like a company can choose to pay their employees more lol. To suggest everywhere needs to because one place does is incredibly entitled.

                • @pennypincher98: Ok, sure ..go the personal attack route.

I just think the integrity of a business appearing exactly the same as another, but actually paying less is wrong.

Lets keep it simple… If I cant get $25 casback on a $100 spend..then dont advertise it that way. Dont care if GST, stamp duty or any other tax is applicable.

Imagine if GST was different for each product. It would be a nightmare. Say like fuel excise and a petrol station. You see a sign with an offer of 50% cashback on fuel. But only give you 3% as 47% of it is excise. Its RUBBISH.

Just advertise the 'actual cashback'. That's all im asking.

Again..BWS are giving 25% and LL are not (both dealing with the same GST that you seem focused on).

                  • @tunzafun001: It's not advertised that way though, it's in the terms. Besides, all they would need to put is Up to 25% cashback. I'm sure you could buy a bottle of water and it would be GST exempt. Therefore, it is possible to get 25% cashback as there was no GST involved in the purchase.

Now you know how messy giving different rates are to things and simplified business models work. Putting a GST rate and a non-GST rate would lead to more confusion as people tend not to know which items do and don't have GST.

Asymmetric information is everywhere. Even on Ozbargain with strict formatting guidelines it falls short. Companies are not required to, so they won't and even if they were there's workarounds like the above.

If your whole point is "this is bad" well this is legal and business isn't honest. This is starting to feel a bit cyclical..

  • Thanks op. Cafe patron down to $80 👍

  • Laphroaig 10
    Talisker 10
Both $75. Get that up ya

    • Sounds messy. Get it in ya!

    • Been 1.5 hours for me and nothing.

      • Had to cancel and place a new one. Tracking came through on new one within 10 mins. Now I need to get a refund on the untracked order (as I've already picked it up)

        • Was it an online order or through the app?

          • +1

@werdplaya58: went through the app on my second try. Online failed me.

            • @freekay: Cheers. Seems to be the pattern - just about every failed cashback I see posted on here is due to the browser.

              • @werdplaya58: I always bought using the app and once it didn’t track automatically for BWS. After 90 days wait they reject the manual ticket raised by Cashrewards.
If it doesn’t track automatically cancel the order.

            • @freekay: By the app, you mean the cashrewards app right, not the BWS app?

              • +1

@sk0tty: I don't think there is actually any way to use the BWS app in conjunction with Cashrewards or SB, since both automatically open the BWS website within their respective apps.

              • +1

@sk0tty: Correct. BWS app will definitely not track.

  • Is there a way to get this to work together with BWS gift cards?

    • I very much doubt it… BWS never pays up if you use codes or any other possible discount or advantage…

  • $90 spend today, tracked for $22.50 reasonably quickly…..

Won't expect to see that $22.50 until 13th July though….
